  2. The Lexus IS F is quite a rare car, so there aren't many of them on the roads. In New South Wales, there are probably a small number of these cars. It's difficult to give an exact number, as it can change over time due to sales, purchases, and cars going out of service. You could try contacting local car clubs or forums; someone there might have more information about the number of IS F's in your area.

  6. Thanks sounds like a good idea, I also like that its still in a way oem. As these cars are pretty rare, any ideas on where to source some good second hand stuff? Also is there anything I need to be aware of (extra parts required) when putting 12+ suspension into an 08. When it comes time perhaps I should be swapping other components in the suspension so its more like a 12+ handing wise ?
  7. My 1999 LS400 ECU will not communicate with diagnostic readers. I have replaced all ECU capacitors and a couple of resistors without any success. Four different auto electricians have connected various devices both to the engine bay port and the under dash OBD2 port without a result. One theory is that Toyota used a modified code for non US Lexus sedans around 1999 which only allows Toyota readers of that period to talk to it. Apparently in 2000 they reverted to standard OBD2 protocol again. Anyone else having the same problem or found a work around? Gabriel O.

  12. Video My mechanic says it's normal in a chain driven engine but I'm not convinced. It's just annoying more than anything. I recently changed the engine belt as well but it doesn't seem to help either
  13. LOL so basicly you found your own answer (regardless of it being right or wrong) then why did u even make this post?
  14. We plan to tow a caravan long distance & are having trouble sourcing a subsidiary tank to add to the standard 80litre tank. Has anyone achieved this? The Landcruiser 300 floor pan is very similar and you can get an 87litre extra tank for that, but manufacturers are not forthcoming in helping the Lexus owners. Any advice?

  18. Upgrading the maps data is quite expensive, as it has to be genuine Lexus only, and may not fix the problem if it is the head unit (either the audio unit which reads the SD card, or the screen itself). Either of these will be VERY expensive. I decided not to upgrade the SD card in my 2017 NX due to the cost (close to $500), so I did some research and discovered that I could replace the screen with a complete new standalone one running on Android which was larger, had much higher resolution, and was much faster with inbuilt maps for Australia which are regularly updated for free, for not much more than the cost of 2 updates for the SD card. The screen integrates perfectly with the NX dashboard, comes with all necessary wiring and fitting instructions, and looks like factory when installed. I fitted mine myself, or any competent car audio fitter could do it for you. It integrates perfectly with the car's standard systems, 360deg. camera and Mark Levinson system (if you have either), and is totally worth the upgrade. If it is indeed the screen in your car that is faulty, I have a perfectly good original screen for sale if that helps. I am in Brisbane. John.

  20. Since the above, I had to reboot a number of times. The last few, before reboots, I did the following distances. 400km, 300km, 56km, now I'm 2500km since last reboot and she's behaving beautifully. I didn't do anything else, so I have no idea what changed. Great mileage, clean exhaust pipes, beautifully smooth gear changes. I was about to have the ECU computer checked over by an expert here in New Zealand, but it was holidays so it couldn't be done at the time, but that's when it came right! I wait in trepidation to see what happens!
  21. Thanks for your response. my issue is that I can do 250 km more when the fuel light first goes on. The fuel gauge is not accurate by a long way, Iā€™m asking if anyone else is experiencing this in the latest RX models. cheers
  22. Goiter, did you get one of these? I'm thinking about installing one on my 2010 RX 450h.
  23. Nothing but 98 since brand new, so yeah... very little gumming up the works. I'm having your dilemma about doing a gearbox flush. Car drives perfectly fine at 160,000km, but oils really aren't "for life" but I don't want to regret the decision either way.
