  1. Nothing but 98 since brand new, so yeah... very little gumming up the works. I'm having your dilemma about doing a gearbox flush. Car drives perfectly fine at 160,000km, but oils really aren't "for life" but I don't want to regret the decision either way.
  2. Did it around the 100k mark. Made lots of smoke, didn't notice any other difference.
  3. https://www.towbarsaustralia.com.au/products/towbar-kit-is250-sedan-1?variant=41012975501492 I'd imagine this should be IS350 compatible.
  4. I didn't have to change my rear pads until after 100,000km. Fronts were around 60,000km from memory. Surprised you machined the front discs. There is only 2mm of wear available on those before they need replacing (28mm new, 26mm due for replacement). Those only last me around 20,000km.
  5. I wouldn't think it's the tyres. To be honest I just got some PS5s installed, and they feel slightly harsher than the PS4s although they are quieter.
  6. There have been 2 recalls on the IS250 due to leaky fuel delivery pipes/sensors. Contact a dealer with your VIN to see if the work has been done or if you can get it done ASAP. Leaky fuel in the engine bay is a fire waiting to happen. https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/recalls/rec-003347 https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/recalls/rec-003047
  7. I love my APEXi Smart Accel controller. Testing it with an OBD reader when I first installed it showed that it outputs a higher voltage at maximum throttle than when the unit is turned off, so acceleration can be slightly greater than stock. It does change the throttle response curve (you can see the 7 or so on their website) and from testing it does behave how they advertise. I have zero regrets installing one into my IS250. It can make the driving experience feel more spirited, but won't gain you any additional power. I use mine with PWR mode on and it definitely makes it feel quicker than standard PWR mode as it feeds the ECU maximum voltage after only 1/3 of the throttle is down.
  8. I'd prefer Mazda has no input on the engine, and we pass it on to Yamaha like the JZ engines were 😆
  9. Would have been nice to include the video so people knew what you were talking about: I would never do this though. Just what you need on a rainy day... a boot full of water.
  10. Extremely... I don't want a SUV of any sort, so getting rid of nearly the entire sedan/coupe range is ridiculous. I guess I have to keep saving for an LS, as there is no GS any more either 😞
  11. Slightly off topic, but can the auto headlight sensitivity be changed with Techstream? I find mine to be slightly off and won't turn on until it's nearly pitch black outside.
  12. Nearly every news article calls it 4th generation, hence my use of that wording for the title, but yes apparently the IS line could either end completely in 2024 or may be a shared platform with possibly Mazda.
  13. I hope the rumours of an IS500 are true. My IS250 is almost 12 years old and needs a refresh.
  14. MAF sensor is built into the airbox lid so doesn't get touched. Smoother pipe should give a less interrupted airflow. Not sure about added noise. I think that usually comes from a bigger hole in the airbox (like the F-Sport one).
  15. Mine runs 4.5% too fast as measured by several GPS units. When I used to run 20" wheels on the car (285/30/20 on the rear) the speedo would read exactly correct.
  16. Pipe between the airbox and inlet manifold. Change the flex/plastic pipe for something solid and straight.
  17. Yep, PS4 are excellent... last two sets of tyres on mine have been PS3 and now PS4 From your list, I wouldn't buy anything less than the Hankooks. I have an odd distrust for those cheap/random brands.
  18. https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/driver-safety/mobile-phones-and-driving As long as the phone is in a cradle, a fully licenced driver is allowed to use the phone to control music.
  19. This was the easiest solution I found a while back: https://www.tp-link.com/au/home-networking/entertainment-device/ha100/ Cheap, not permanent, sound quality is decent. Still have to control music from your phone though. No biggie if you have it in a holder already.
  20. I'm about to hit 120,000 in mine and will get Danny (ilv1004s) on here to change it pretty soon.
