  1. Has anyone purchased a dash cam for their Lexus? If it's a recent purchase, which model is it, and would you recommend it? if it's not all that recent, what brand was it, and would your recommend people to buy that brand, or avoid it?
  2. I don't remember v18 maps having that problem, so it's the firmware. You can contact a Lexus dealer to see whether they'lol update the firmware. Who knows, it might be free even if you're out of warranty and don't want to get your car serviced there.

  4. Spec and Teddinator gave the most important pointers. How many km has your car travelled, in total, and how old is it? If you bought the car brand new, then the first service at 12 months/15,000 km is free. If your car is used, and the car has low km, but it's up for a relatively expensive service (e.g. 5 year service), talk it over with your Lexus dealer. They may recommend you get a basic service, including an oil and oil filter change - and defer the more expensive replacements until later - such as the fuel filter under the rear seat. Best of all, they'll still stamp your logbook.

  9. Ah, here's the photos and our write-up ... On pricing ... It's hard to pick a starting point for setting the price. My usual rule of thumb is to have a look at the Audi equivalent (base model, without all the optional items that Lexus throw in as standard), then take away a few thousand. But there isn't an Audi equivalent for this. The media are pointing to the BMW 6-series as the competitor. But it's hard to tell how Lexus sets its prices against BMWs. What's the direct competitor to the GS F? The GS F is priced significantly lower than the M5 and, in fact, its driveaway price is less than the BMW 550i M Sport before on-roads. Let's assume the 550i is the logical competitor to the GS F; if we apply the same pricing strategy to the LC 500, then the LC 500 would be a compelling buy against the 650i even if it is priced at $230K driveaway (650i is $231,900 before on-roads). But a $230K price tag would make it similar in price to the flagship LS 600h F Sport! In conclusion, my guess won't be any better than anyone else's, and my gut feel is to agree with others' predictions of between $180K and $200K, driveaway.

  11. Complaints here on the ML system seem to fall into two categories: Sound quality and interface look and feel. I don't deny that the ML system lacks bass: Other posts on the forums note the change of sub between MY08 and MY09 IS 250s, and the loss of bass in the model. Subwoofer output hasn't improved since. But one should really try playing music from CD first, before complaining of sound quality from streaming audio. This is to isolate the problem between the playback device (Mark Levinson system) from the audio source itself. Spotify's free service from mobile samples music at just 30% of the sampling rate used for its paid service used on a desktop computer, and that would make a noticeable difference to sound quality. On user interface: I'd rather a smartphone-vendor-independent interface than to be wedded to either Apple CarPlay or Google Android Auto. To that end, Toyota has announced its use of the open source platform known as SmartDeviceLink, and will feature on all future models worldwide by 2019. What does this mean to the existing Lexus infotainment system and its Enform apps? My guess is that either very few enhancements will appear on the current platform, or that some enhancements will appear in order to justify charging for Enform after three years of free use. One final note: I don't mind Lexus' so-called Windows 3.1 look, feel and point-and-click interface (which would date back to the '90's, not the '80's). The alternative is to use the dial interface of the Germans, which really has its roots in the jog-and-shuttle interface on VCR's from the '80s. If it really was any good, we'd still see it on non-auto electronic devices today.

But, with the tyre track teaser, are we really expecting just a LC 500 and LC 500h? LC F perhaps? Or is it another concept (note the URL)?

  14. Some forum members have already test driven the GS F, so the official release isn't too far away. That said, no press release has been made on specifications or pricing. Details on specs and pricing, however, can already been found on the Lexus Australia Website. Prices for the GS F start from just under $160,000 driveaway in NSW (a little over $160K in Victoria). There are three options, which can be obtained in any combination: - Carbon fibre ornamentation - Forged 19" polished alloy wheels - Semi-aniline leather accented interior (in black, Moonstone or Flare Red) with ventilated front seats The top of the range, with all three options, costs $168,281 (NSW).
