  1. What's your experience with waxing and polishing? How often do you want to wax?
  2. Wow that's not very much at all. Decent power for the mods on it. I'm assuming there was also a tune?
  3. I was in a similar boat when I got my car. I was looking at a Golf R, 370Z, 335i Having come from a WRX and Skyline (the latter I still own) the R was just plain boring a nice car but just so dam dull for what it was. This was before you get into VW seervicing costs and their current patchy reliability. I decided to keep my Nissan for shots and giggles so that ruled out the 370. The 335 was just too expensive and whilst I am a BMW fan at heart none of their current line up excites me. A BMW needs to be an NA straight six that screams off its head or nothing. Coming from a type R honda you'll find the Lexus wanting on turn in, it really is a back half of a corner type car. As for the STI take one for a drive. The interior, including the much improved MY15 (the new one just released) one still isn't a patch on the lexus. I wouldn't get the new STI. The current wrx has gone the FA20 motor however the sti still has the old EJ257 motor so when Subaru changes it over the resale on the new sti will be horrid. The new STI is finally priced very well though
  4. This is correct. You can usually get the same deal at any time, if anything end of the month could be a good time in case they haven't made their monthly targetsAs for the dealerships they are okay to haggle with. On the two occasions I managed to get the cars I wanted for the price I wanted; the RX did take a lot of looking and patience though depends on the demand of the car on the used market i know the RX sells like a hotcake on the used market hard to get a good deal on a RX they know if you walk away they are going to sell it to the next person that comes even on the private used market first person to come and see my rx bought it pretty much 1K off the asking price Was after an ex-demo current shape RX350 with a budget of 65k; was difficult to get near it. After a lot of searching managed to find one for that price. The reason was that the interior was saddle tan (we wanted a dark interior) and that isn't a popular choice. Personally I think it looks better than black because it adds colour to the car. Cream looks awesome but it is too high maintenance.
  5. Welcome Your queries have been well answered in the above responses

  7. You have to do you homework on aftermarket exhausts because more often that not from the diff back (the part that makes the noise) is just mindless drone. I have read good things about the Lexus F exhaust though. Do you do a lot of long trips? The drone on the exhaust (depending on how loud you go) can be irritating. For my track car - I HATE doing long trips in it because the exhaust is so monotonous when driving at 2000-3000 constantly - above 4000 it comes alive! What sort of power are you chasing? Chances are an exhaust will give you bugger all jump in power (from both a real figure and the seat of your pants feeling); it will improve sound though. CAI increases induction noise so you can hear the engine do its thing when your pushing on. The above is the reason why I went CAI because it only makes a noise when you want it to (ie upper end of revs). PS if you want proper power - 2JZ conversion!
  8. Louder under full throttle from mid to high end revs. Rest of it is slim to no aural difference. Dont know about econmoy; probably slim to mo differnece either. What are you after for your car? Power?
  9. Value for money was the big thing for me. There was a lot included with lexus but more than that I just really cannot stand the extensive list of options provided by the other three. Give me my car and I don't want to think about what else I can do to it; a few things here and there but that's it. A lot of this comes down to me agreeing wi lexus' approach in priciple ie buy a car and not adding an additional 20-30% to the rrp with the options list. Personally I've always been a fan of BMW and merc. I loved Marc's build quality of old (ie the w124/w140 era and before) however that level of over engineering went in the mid 90's. BMW I LOVE their NA inline 6's. If they still built a 230kW+ naturally aspirated inline 6 that is fun to drive I'd be going there. However I think over the past 5-10 years BMW have moved away from their ethos and what made me a fan of theirs. As for Audi - save for the original Quattro's the less said the better; especially the ones from the last 10 years
  10. If the car is in great condition and you're just going to be getting another LS400 anyway I'd repair the existing car
  11. I installed a Lexus CAI on my 350 - induction note is so much nicer and it is more responsive on throttle. I don't feel any performance gain though
  12. Those gains aren't very much; personally I wouldn't bother to be honest. I looked at the graph and it seems okay because it still manages to keep the torque curve however for what you are spending I would want more power and/or a better torque spread
  13. ^^^ Do you people have documented evidence of what has been happening? If you feel you are getting the run around I'd recommend you put your complaints in writing and also ask the dealers in question to put their response in writing. Even if you don't get a desired outcome they will scrutinize the car before putting their opinion in writing as there is a lot more liability that comes with written opinions.
  14. Lexus of Chatswood are amazing. I bought my car from Sutherland beacuse that was the only place that had a 2IS 350 F Sport in black left; the others were all gone. My parents bought an RX350 from Chatswood a few months ago and my god was the service better. Sutherland was good but Chatswood was another league away. Chatswood gave them a degustation dinner voucher; I got an umbrella from Sutherland. If I buy another Lexus I know where it will be from.
  15. Nice, what WRX/STI's did you have and what have you had done to them? I'm a former WRX owner myself; I didn't mod it. Were you in the wrx club or on Rexnet? Funny I think the interior of my car (2IS) is dated but I much prefer the seats in mine to the new one; so much more side and thigh bolstering. I do wish I had vented seats though. What you said about not going a 335 is why I went Lexus as well - save a lot and everything is there from factory.
  16. It vibrates in both motion and at idle but I personally think the vibration while driving is at acceptable level that comes from the contact with ground not from the car itself. By the way the car drives very smooth...maybe too smooth to feel the sportiness of the car. :) I was hoping it could be something simple like a dodgy wheel balance but if it does it at both times then it won't be. I re-read your initial post and given that it only happens when the car is in gear I'm thinking it could be a drive train issue. Does it happen in reverse? As mentioned though the car is still new and requires to be broken in but it still is something to be weary about; hope you get it sorted
  17. Go off the build date - post September 2012 comes with this as well as upgraded GPS (ie hard-drive based); pre-September you got a CD stacker. Mine has the upgraded system
