  1. Hi All, I recently bought an LS430 with 185,000 ks on the clock. During cold starts the engine makes a kind of squeak/tappet noise which goes away after the engine warms up about 3-4 minutes later. If I start the car 8 hours later it doesn't make the sound, so I'd need to leave it with a mechanic over night to get an understanding of what it could be. If anyone here with experience would care to listen to the audio file I've attached to dropbox in the link below, I'd appreciate that very much. I've also attached a picture and circled the area where the sound appears to be coming from. My best guess so far is hydraulic lifters, or a squeaking belt or worse an engine bearing of some sort. As you can tell I'm not overly savy when it comes to engines, especially one as complicated as this, but I'm a keen learner I guess. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wz0am4kv8ov78ej/AADJuzISTQ_dZGaj0pYrbWcoa?dl=0 Cheers.
  2. Hi All, I recently bought a LS 430 with 188,00 k's on the clock. It has no record of having the timing belt replaced so this is the first piece of work I'd like to have done along with a list of other things that I'll do later until I'm happy that it's in a safe and reliable condition. Would like your thoughts on a quote for $1590.00 from Toyota to have the timing belt, water pump and other pulley belts replaced. Price includes labour. Is there any other work you'd recommend have done along with a timing belt? Thanks for any comments and feedback.
  3. Hi Everyone, It's great to have a community like the Lexus Owners Club. I'm looking forward to reading through all the topics and comments. I've previously owned a Lexus LS400 and now own a LS430. I'm also a motorcycle fan and attend track days from time to time. I also own two Toyota vehicles! Needless to say I've had a good run with Toyota and Lexus. I've always been impressed with their build quality, reliability and values. My LS430 has 188,000 kms on the clock, she isn't perfect but has sure stood the test of time. Being 30 years of age I'm sarcastically labelled a grand dad for driving a car like this, but to be honest I couldn't care less. The LS430 is a great place to be and relax while driving. What it offers for a second hand car within my budget is more than I could have hoped for, that is if it can remain reliable. We will see! Hence the reason I need lots of smart folk like you all to help with my problems and in return perhaps I can help you but given my experience I think I'll be more of a listener than a talker. Looking forward to the convo. Paul
