Spacers On Stock 08/09 Wheels - Question

So on the weekend i was about to go and install my spacers onto the car.

Jacked up the rear and went to put the spacer on.

I then saw that the existing wheel studs poked through the spacer about 1.5cm or so out through the holes in the spacer.

From then i just gave up thinking that the wheel wouldn't mount flat.

Do i have to shave these studs off? Or is there space at the back of the wheel to accommodate for the existing wheel stud!

Cheers

bolt on - i just saw the existing wheel studs poke through and thought 'ah crap the wheel won't sit flush' but then i realised the back of the wheel probably isn't flat and may have space for the studs

How did you go with this?

The USA guys tend to go with 15mm spacers with extended studs, looks perfect size IMO.

Hows your Swift springs going? The Yanks love those too. :)

Rears are rolled - 0 scrub

Fronts however, scrub on reverse (the tread catches the plastic liner) on the drivers side only. Makes a pretty bad sounds! Probably going to dremel the part that makes contact or heat gun it and bend it back.

Yeah only fix is to raise the car

Or tap the guard liner under the wheel arch

or last option is to get a heat gun and bend it in

But the heat gun is a temp fix

Mines been doing that for 10 months now

Nothing ripped or broken yet

Where did you end up getting your spacers? Locally or eBay?

I'm waiting for my Swift springs to turn up at the moment, and was going to go 15mm spacers with extended studs.

bought them locally on eBay

No worries man.

I just ordered 2 sets of H&R DRS 15mm spacers with extended studs from USA. They were US$100 a set. Got me a HPS silicone intake tube as well! :)

I thought I'd update this thread.

Here is my IS-F lowered on Swift springs, and with the 15mm H&R spacers. Loving it!

I've got 245/275 sized Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, no rubbing or guard mods needed.

That looks great Raven. How are you liking the Swift springs? Height, handling & comfortwise? Anymore pics of the front rim to guard gap? Looks to be about a 2 finger gap? Updated suspension?

Sorry for the Q's, just tossimg up between springs or coilovers. Not after a massive drop, about 1 finger gap up front without killing the ride quality or going backwards in handling.

Nah, would be less than 2 finger gap height wise. Just looks that way from the angle combined with 15mm spacers. 20mm spacers look more flush, but you get rubbing problems in the front. I've got 245/275 tyres though that really square up the sidewalls though.

I'm very happy with the Swift springs. Very nice drop that looks even all round. It feels just a tad firmer than stock, hard to tell. Perfect drop IMO, still legal and practical with plenty of room underneath the car.

I love the set up, I'd only personally get coilovers if I had the harsh 2008-2009 IS-F.

Thanks, much appreciated. Exactly what I wanted to know. Think I may follow suit & once the shocks start to die (which they eventually will given it's a wear item), get KW V3's.
