I want to lower my is200's ride height and i dont know what's cheaper, coilovers or springs

anyone have any ideas on what setup i should choose and what brands are good ? preferably under $800 for everything?

You won't get coilovers for under $800 new. Even used isn't going to be much under that, and chances are they'll need to be rebuilt.

Springs - about $300 new, half that used (I sold mine on eBay last week for about $130).

Coilovers are adjustable to suit your driving style / condition of roads / etc. Springs will give you a reasonable drop (about 30mm from stock) at the expense of a slightly bouncier ride.

If you want a good job that will improve the overall ride quality, i would go for the coil over option. If you just want to drop the car on its ass then go for the spring option
