Hi gang,

I had my vehicle in for its 90,000 service yesterday. Car has come out the back door of the dealership as good as new. I'm very happy. A notable change in performance and handling (won't bore you with details but I got them to do a few other things as well), but the chassis and suspension tightening is really noticeable. What bowled me over is what the Service Manager told me their new retail price is for their 90,000km service. I paid the old price, but let's just say it was a $700 difference!!!

So a heads-up to you with vehicles close to the 90,000km service to either shop around, get in early or put your foot down and demand the 'old' price. I'm not sure whether this price change was a dealer specific decision, or a directive from Lexus Australia.

The vehicle pricing at Lexus over the last 12 months has been getting very competitive, so I guess they're trying to make up for it in the workshops. My guess at the reasoning.

@BigDenis - it was just some drivers seat tightening, as well as adjustment to the auto transmission and a fuel injection system service - so these items plus the 'book service', and my 6 1/2 year old car now drives like the 6 month old loan car I had for the day. As I mentioned, the benefits from the chassis and suspension tightening (as prescribed in the scheduled 90k service) are really noticeable. Car feels much tighter.

guys,

Ive got mine booked in for 90K service and the three dealerships in Melb have quote from $1280 - $1370, which astounded me.

Yep - that is the OLD price range, so as I said if what my dealership told me, get in quick if you're close to 90k because those numbers on that price range is about to get a whole lot bigger!.

Pro Tip: Source your own spark plugs or get stung with their ridiculous pricing of $70/per plug.

I got told around the $1300 mark also.I asked them what if I did the plugs myself and they told me they couldn't stamp the book. Toyota will charge me $150 for a basic service and will stamp the book.

Give them the plugs and tell them to install and stamp the book.

Thought about that. Ebay has them for $90 delivered.I cant see how they can charge that massive price for an oil change, plugs and do the checks. At the end of the day I'm sure Toyota is still a good option for the service.

Toyota to me sounds like a good choice it's cheaper than Lexus cus mines way out of warranty (2006). Is it possible anyway??

Curious to know who here services at Toyota.

Edit: Just noticed our sponsor sells 90,000km spark plugs

Mine is out of warranty also. I just spoke to a local toyota dealership and got that price.

I'm about to get my IS350 done - Lexus are $1,150. I tried a few Toyota service centres but some wouldn't quote, however one did and it was $1,200!

Anyone know mechanics who specialise in IS, in Sydney (pref inner to outer west)?

These prices are a joke i bought a Aurion with the 100000 km,s service just done at Toyota (i asked for the print out ) $670 this is a major sevice the Lexus is350 is virtually the same motor . How much would Lexus charge for a ISF major service.??

Got my 90k service for my ISF about 3 months ago.  Lexus Parramatta quoted me approx $1300, so i kindly declined lol

I always buy me own stuff (OEM parts where possible) to keep costs down.  Anyway got Autowerks in Bev hills to do my service given he did a few mods for me and tuned the car etc so he was familiar with it.  He is well aware of what is required for the service (even without my service manual), checks everything even down to the wiper blades etc.  I supplied the Oil (10ltrs of it at about $65 for 5lts), oil filter from Toyota parts for about $25 (ryco equivalent even cheaper), Aircon cabin filter (Lexus about $70 but can get a Maxflow for about $20), 8 x Denso plugs for under $20 each (Lexus are about $50+ from memory each) and a few other things cant remember.

Actually, it's $1,330 for an IS350 ($1,150 was for IS250). Not sure what the extra $180 is for...

Can do my own plugs and filters but want someone else to do the rest. But someone who knows what they're doing of course.

My 90km service was around $1,400 for the ISF in Jan, yes prob could have got it cheaper elsewhere.. But they pick my car up in the morning, drop a loan car, the drop my car back in the arvo, and i work driving my car all day.

The car is driven everyday and though serviced extremely well through Lexus, is not babied at all. Its treated very well, over serviced probably, but has NEVER skipped a beat.. The servicing isnt cheap, but the car runs perfectly every time i press that Start button and mash the throttle. For a 7 year old car, thats fine by me.

I dont thrash my cars, i treat them very well, but if i want to have a bit of fun it needs to be reliable and do what its supposed to do. If you want cheap servicing, get a Hyundai, this is a high performance V8 revving hard anytime i want it to, and is 7 years old. 7 YEARS! NO ISSUES! You get what you pay for, look after your car and it will look after you.
