3Rd Gen 2007 Lexus Gs430 Shock Absorbers

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I've been a long time owner of the 3rd generation 2007 Lexus GS430 with the active suspension system where you can flick between normal or sport.

Just had the horrible news at the end of a service that one of my shock absorbers is leaking and needs ot be replaced.

My face when I was quoted the $1200 price for the shock plus $600 labor fee for just 1 shock absorber!

Which leads me here, a mate suggest I check out forums for alternatives.

Does anyone have any experience in this area? Is this the only option or would it be cheaper to buy a set of 4 aftermarket shockabsorbers which can be used with the stock springs - I'm not looking for a change in the ride quality or handling. I would just like ot keep it like the standard ride - not too fussed with the active suspension system either as I don't use it.

Thankyou all in advance!

A

Don't go to a dealership to shop for parts if you find their prices too expensive.

Order your parts online and fit them elsewhere or yourself.

Here we go. Without looking to deep you can have your rear strut for $250.

Post your VIN here and we can check what part number you actually need.

Replacing major suspension components on such a complex car as GS430 with aftermarket parts is opening a massive can of worms to deal with. This could be done, but you have to be prepared for this mentally and financially.

Guys, I have my stock shocks sitting in my garage with 40,000kms.

I can get you used ones from Japan, or new coilovers (Which I put in mine). This allows height and damper adjustment.

Its the cheapest option. I run Tanabe coilovers, which is Japan made.

How much Would it cost to ship 4 factory wheels from NZ to Brisbane?

Thanks

Unfortunately that might be the one thing that's cheaper to buy in Australia for you. Shipping at a rough estimate would probably work out to be in the region of 400-500 NZD based upon what I've sent there so far. Smaller things that can be boxed and sent in general post it's often less than $100 NZD to send.
