Mlo1956
Hi allI wonder if anyone has encountered this:My car is now 1700 Kms old and I've refilled 3 times, each time it indicates a range left of 35 to 80 kms, therefore you'd think that given an average of 11.5L/100 kms, I'd have very little fuel in the tank, however when I filled up today with a range left of 34 Kms, the most I can fit in was 48 litres, which means that a range of at least 100 kms was left.I can't figure out if I'm using much less fuel than the car shows and therefore the computer is wrong, the tank is less than the 60 litres shown in the specs, which I doubt or there's another issue.Any ideas? plankton007
1700kms means you've probably only filled up about 2 or 3 times or so right? The computers usually take several refills before it starts to learn your driving patterns and distance. I'd give it some more time. also 11.5L/100kms seems unusually high for the 200t... Lexus Nerd
Hi all I wonder if anyone has encountered this: My car is now 1700 Kms old and I've refilled 3 times, each time it indicates a range left of 35 to 80 kms, therefore you'd think that given an average of 11.5L/100 kms, I'd have very little fuel in the tank, however when I filled up today with a range left of 34 Kms, the most I can fit in was 48 litres, which means that a range of at least 100 kms was left. Any ideas? I wouldn't use the "range left" as the basis for any fuel consumption calculations. It is a usually a conservative estimate - what if your last 34 km was all uphill? In most cases, however, you should find that you can still drive for quite some time when the estimated range is 0 km (although it's not recommended). Juvi
The fuel light came on today - and gauge said near empty, and think last I checked before that the distance left before fuel said 50km roughly. Filled up and got about 45L of petrol in to full (the fuel tank is about 60L from specs I believe). Economy so far been averaging about 10.1L/100km. Doing a mix of Eastlink (hwy) and stop start traffic in dual carriageway to work in peak traffic. Drove to Daylesford (about 220km round trip) on hwy and testing out the engine a little on the smaller roads on the way there and back on hwy averaged about 11.2L. (a fair amount on Sports + mode). Mlo1956
Today I visited Lexus of Sutherland as Lexus (HQ) had advised me that they weren't aware of any issues, I had an indicated range of 6 Kms, I spoke to the Service Manager and he indicated that they are well aware of this issue as some of their clients have had exactly the same problem, he took a photo of the range indicator, I went across the road and filled up, I was only able to fit 49.84 litres, went back to Lexus and they took another photo of the receipt and the kms on the clock as well as the new range. He also indicated that he will send a report to Lexus as no one really knows what the real range of the car is, it should be a simple thing, the tank does not hold 60 litres as indicated in the manual or the sensors in the tank or software are wrong, either way it is hard for us to know and something needs to be done about it. It isn't very hard to determine how much fuel you have left in the tank, if the rage indicates that there are 100Kms left and you are averaging 11L/100, then you should be able to fit 49 litres, if you only can fit 35 litres, then something is wrong. That's one thing I hate about car companies, there's never anything wrong with the car, that's until they can't hide any longer, then the excuses start to come out.
Juvi
Kept an eye on the range recently, had range say 29km, then whittle down to 5km range left, then refuel now!!!!! :) Filled up and only got about 48.5L into the tank. So based on specs still had about a 5th of the tank still there (12L). Little annoying as would be nice to know how much i do have left in the tank and range - so now do I assume when I get down to the refuel now I have to assume I have 12L left in tank and work out how far I can get on that (about a 100km more) Yes I can just fill up when it shows but as Mlo1956 says all a little annoying. Juvi
Hi manboy, as with all cars it depends on your needs and taste. We looked at a few different types before settling on the Nx, and as your wife did we loved it. Used to drive a Prius C to work most days, so the fuel use takes a bit of getting used to (we initially looked at the 300h - but ended up with 200t as it was a lot more enjoyable to drive). If power and speed etc not as much of an issue have a look at the 300h. Otherwise the 200t is a great car to drive. The car looks good, and have been stopped at lights and often get the subtle look over from the driver next to me, and that head turning ability does give you a nice feeling :) , the interior is very comfortable, love the seats, the trackpad is a bit annoying but you learn to use and live with it. The Sound system is great and the number of gadgets fun to play with . The driving - fun, though you can feel the bumps a bit more then some of the other SUVs in the category. Overall it has made the daily commute and the drive home a pleasure. No regrets about purchasing it, few niggles but there's another thread here about issues people have found with it. Any specific questions feel free to pm me. Hope your wife enjoys it :D
manboy
Thanks Juvi I'm moving from a Prado so the improved fuel economy will be a bonus, not to mention the quality of the Lexus product. They are definitely a great looking SUV...
dis-lex-sic
Fuel range/economy in both 200t & 300h should be something you'll be happy with coming from a Prado
