New link from A local :)

Will fit on a single layer DVD-R

That's really helpful and somewhat surprisingly (being DVD-R) it works!  So I'm up to at least v22 of the maps ... most appreciated!

Cheers,

David

Hi Bazzle,

I used "Burn" and ran it at 4x speed.  I didn't make any other changes to the process (I just accepted whatever defaults it came up with).

Cheers,

David

If you have an ISO that is too large to burn on a single layer DVD-R, here's how to shrink it to fit with common freely available utilities...

- Use 7-ZIP to expand the original too large ISO to a directory.

- Delete files from that directory that you may not want. Point of Interest files can be opened with notepad to see what they cover.  (E.g. POISR008.IDX and POISR009.IDX are NZ North and South Islands; TOYOTA_EGA and TOYOTA_VGA image directories are not needed for Lexus)

- Use ImgBurn with default settings and the default automatic speed of AWS to burn the contents of the directory that now fit on a single layer Disk

Can vouch following method works:

  • Deleted POISR008.IDX and POISR009.IDX files from the V22 ISO, so it fits onto one DVD single layer disc. I used a program called PowerISO.
  • Burned ISO using Nero with a DVD-R blank.
  • Maps loaded fine in 2IS 250 and 2013 Toyota Kluger

This link still works...thanks very much

Loaded into my 09 RX350, no problem

I did not have to delete any files to make it fit on the disc.

Just unzipped using 7-zip

Used Imageburn to burn on to a DVD -R disc (download imageburn for free)

Used this thread before as a lurker, registered now so just wanted to thank all you people, especially Bazzle, for the info and tips and trouble-shooting.

I dl'd the Toyota Lexus Whereis V22 2016 maps, burned at 4x to a no-name (Ritek) DVD+R DL disc using ISOBURN, and it worked perfect. Honestly I'll probably still use phone GPS a lot more, but this is good for my completionist/obsessive streak, and also for when I go on roadtrips and might not have reception.

So thanks all!

Its nice to have and thanks to this thread, also got the v22 maps a while ago but to be honest, i find myself using Google maps alot as well.

No matter how i set the routing, quickest, shortest, avoid this, avoid that etc, the Nav often wants to take me ways that i know are silly whereas Google maps takes me the better way so i use it as a backup but dont really rely on it.

If im going to an unfamiliar area, i never trust it lol

Agree. I think the routing algorithm used by Lexus' navigation units is different from Google's. I've often compared what the Lexus navigation unit shows as opposed to using the shortest/quickest way that I know off the top of my head and it is very different. I believe regardless of the version, the routing algorithm in the Lexus nav units still remains the same so you're never going to have it at the same level as Google Maps.

Lexus routing doesn't account for traffic incidents either, so can be quite different to what Google Maps suggests.

The 3IS has 'live traffic updates' function in its settings. Doesn't this account for traffic incidents or is this different or not as good as how Google Maps accounts for traffic incidents?

Sorry, 2IS owner here. Didn't realise the newer models had this. They've dropped the ball on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so I'm surprised they managed to get this working.

Note:

Tried a DVD + R DL but it would read properly.
Wrote OK, froze headunit (had same issue when I did V20)

Burnt a 2nd time onto an DVD -R DL  Mine is an 2011 ML. Other models maybe different.
Perfect
I just right clicked on the iso file, chose windows DVD burn image software. Away it went ..beer.gif

Any chance of a re-upload?
