Brake Issues

Recommended Posts

Hi,  Just joined Lexus Owners Club. I'm on my second IS, the first being an IS 250 and now I have an IS 350 (2011). I recently had the car serviced by Lexus and the works included the fitment of new front disc pads. Since they have been installed, I get a high pitched squealing when coming to a very slow stop. I've had it back to Lexus twice, the first time I was told the pads were bedding in and the second time they chamfered the pads but the noise persists. Has anyone experienced a similar issue and found a solution? I'm considering installing new rotors and ceramic pads (to reduce the dust) but as it cost $400 to have the new pads installed, I'd like to get some benefit out of them first.

Try giving the brakes a few very 'HARD' stops from about 60 to 10 (in a safe place so they get 'very' hot. Then drive normally for a few k's to cool them down.

Thanks for the responses. I'm actually in Melbourne but I'm starting to have a look around where I live (Outer South Eastern suburbs) to find a reputable brake specialist. Also, I've tried the hard braking and even doing 80 km per hour for 3 km with my foot on the brake to get them really hot but the problem persists. I'm beginning to suspect the brake pads are faulty.

I assume the rear brakes were checked also?

Rear brakes had the pads replaced in the previous service. The squealing is definitely coming from the front brakes, more so on the drivers side.
