Hi All,

I want to move into my next car, which I've seen at a dealership. I haven't been there yet (its a long drive away), but we all know that dealerships rip you a new one on trades, so I wont even bother.

So, mine is an import. To be totally transparent, here are a few points off the top of my head:

1. It was in an accident while in the UK. Written off by the insurance company. The cause? It has a scrape on the front right bumper + a bit of the guard. It would apparently not have been worth it to repair it, so they wrote it off. Go figure.

2. It needs an Australian DVD for the sat nav. I've been using my google maps so not an issue, but may be for some people.

3. This week I found the lower shock bushes need replacing. I've been quoted 6 hours labour plus parts.

4. The steering tilt + telescope doesnt work.

5. There's a persistent O2 sensor that keeps coming up. I've replaced it twice now, bit it still comes up an the dash as a check engine light type thing. I've got the toyota software and laptop plugged into it, so I can see very clearly whats happening, but cant seem to permanently remove it.

6. The car had about 145,000 MILES on the odometer. Please see again, that's MILES, not kilometers.

Aside from that, its the bronze colour, and there are general blemishes as you might expect from a 19 year old car. It runs very well, still feels incredibly solid, and is very comfortable. I used to drive it between London and the south of Spain frequently (1200 miles each way), with a few trips to Italy thrown in. Never missed a beat. I'm the second owner, and I bought it in January 2014, so 10 years for me, and 9 years for the first owner. It has been a truly great car, but it is truthfully getting old. The bushes are something that I'm mindful of, and I dont want to have any nagging doubts in the back of my mind about anything else that might happen due to age related issues. So, I'm thinking to move to another Lexus (RX450H). I'm based on the northern beaches in Sydney.

I'm trying to be as open as I can be, and I think that will probably bite me in the butt on price. But there you go.

Thanks,

Rob
