Alrighty boys and girls, just joined up today, having a few problems with my '93 1jz soarer, hopefully i can bake everyones' noodles with my problems!

Problem No. 1: My internal fan (the one that blows air around the car) is stuck on the lowest speed. I have been told the fan speed resistor is to blame (which makes sense) which i have pulled out from behind the glovebox. I cannot find a working one in perth, new or used, toyota have told me 6 weeks from japan (d'oh!) Anyway i can repair/modify the one i have to make it work again?

Problem No. 2: All my aircon refrigerant has leaked from a small metal valve looking thing, passenger side, againts the firewall, underneath the abs master; it has 4 screws in one end and an 8mm nut on the same end. Anyone know where i mght be able to get this repaired or replaced in perth? I can get some pics up if need be.

Thanks heaps in advance

Robbo

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good auto-electrician in Sydney that's clued up on Soarers? My '93 Soarer has some major electrical woes that I need to get sorted out.

I constantly get 'ABS' and the Japanese that translates to 'brake system' come up and now my EV screen is rebooting constantly. I've taken it to so many different people and they're all really clueless.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks.

LET ME EXPLAIN MY SITUATION,

I HAVE A 1991 SOARER 2.5L TT

I BLEW A VACUME HOSE FROM A TURBO, AND HAD A MECHANIC COME FIX IT,

WHILE HE WAS REVING THE CAR FROM INSIDE THE ENGINE JUST CUT OUT AND WILL NOT START AGAIN

THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT IT IS A BLOW HEAD GASKET, IT DID NOT COUGH AND SPUTTER BEFORE IT DIED, IT JUST STOPPED, HE TOLD ME HE DID A COMPRESSION TEST AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO COMPRESSION AT ALL

THIS DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A BLOWN HEAD.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

THANK YOU

P.S DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY MECHANICS THAT CATER MAINLY FOR SOARERS OUT IN THE EASTERN SUBURBS NEAR ROWVILLE,WANTIRNA,FERNTREEGULLY.

RAWS plates.

Im going to look at some 1994-1996 soarers in Sydney and i was wondering why some RAW plates in the engine bay are green and some purple?

I read this on the net:

“The first thing to look for on a Soarer is a RAWS plate - a purple colour tag in the engine bay,” says Craig.

“If the car has a RAWS plate it should be essentially okay - all of the cars that are ADR’d under the RAWS scheme meet a very high standard. But if the car has a green compliance plate which was issued under the old scheme, there’s a chance that the car has been damaged or involved in an accident.”

Can any one help, and also, do soarers have any major (expensive problems)?

The cars are standard 6's and a sc300, auto.

Thanks all.
