Hi all who are interested.

Recently fitted dvd player, quite easy.

Tools needed

Cordless drill, chicken stick (thin plastic stic with wedge on either end), extention bar (for drill), 10mm (same as roof nut pice for drill), wire cuttters, lugs, lug crimper, cloth (for protection.

1. Put park brake on, shift gear selector to L, place cloth trim over center up to bottom ashtray

2. Remove terminals of battery

2. Place chicken stick in between dash sorrounding and ash tray verticaly, first wedge out left side and right top, and then do the same for the bottem of ash tray till you have removed the ash tray.

3. Next step is to remove the top air vent section (with clock and hazard switch). Again verticaly insert the stick bout 3.5 cm from top of vent and wedge out (both left and right side). Again do to the bottem if allready not removed.

4. Remove top air vent. Remove compleatly you will have to remove the plugs. See the button on top of the plugs, you have to push them down firmley with chicken stick and twist stick while pushing down, this should release plug.

5. Now that the ash tray and top air vent components are removed you should see 4 x10mm bolts 2 at the top (behind air vents top) bottom (where ash tray was).

6. Remove these bolts with cordless.

7. The aircon climate and radio are all atteched to a frame withen the 4 bolts, once 4 bolts are removed yjis section can be pulled out. Grab top and bottom and pull.

8. Remove plugs. Now the entire center consell should be bare.

9. The blue plug contains power. Using a test light attach the earth of test light to the thicker brown wire and work out the 2 positive, 1 is constent with ignition off and both are active with ignition on.

Hi again

Right, so if you have got this far than congrats!!

Realy this is an easy install for head deck!!

To date i have not figured the speaker wires out but instead ran new wires to the speakers,

Disconected two lumes out of the big solid steal block in boot, these are the wiring lumes for the stock radio.

Ran pre amp cables from head deck to boot for amp that powers back parcell speakers and sub.

Oh yeah the spot for the radio is straighter on the left than the right. I will post the exact measurments for radio surrounding.

The right side of the bracket is different from the left so the holes dont line up, you'll have to drill some new holes in the bracket to suit.

When you get this info or measure the gap top or bottem you'reself, it's just a matter of getting a bit of ply and covering with some black trim, cutting to size then well *BLEEP* its kinda hard to explain from hear, so i'll post some pictures with measurments soon.

I have a 93 es300 and the radio is making a horrible static recuring tap type noise. It wont turn off and doesnt change in the different modes or with a cd in the stacker. I was wondering if I should go for another head unit and exactly what fits in that funny shape in the dash. Are you saying you need to manufacture a surround? And is there no cable adapter available?

Thanks
