My Is200 Sounds Supercharged?!?!

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I am new here and have just purchased a 99 IS200 SE as an everyday driver. There are just a couple of noises im concerned about. When it hits 4000rpm it sounds supercharged. Is this normal? Also the sound is more prevalent when first started.

I have done some checks and the transmission fluid is black (but doesnt smell burnt) and thick as well as overfilled. I have taken it to my mechanic now to do a service as it was well overdue. It has 113k on the clock, and drives perfectly. No rattles, smooth gearbox (auto).

When I also start it after about 6 hours of sitting cold, it makes an even louder supercharged noise that disappears when it os warm. Anyone have any ideas or have had the same problems?

Many thanks

Mark

Thanks for all your help.

Anyway, got it back from my mechanic and all it was, was it needed a new oil filter, gearbox flush out and had a good service. Amazing how much better it runs.
