Took the new Lexus out to Willowbank Raceway to run it over the 1/4 mile. Best of the night was 13.73 @ 100.67 mph. Hot day (28 degrees Celsius) or 82F and humid. Engine bay heat soak was something of an issue, so that is something to control in future runs.

Getting off the line is easy. No burnout, just in sport mode, ABS and VSC disabled, 1,500 on the converter and nail it. A little chirp when I did the 13.7 and best 0-100 km/h time of 5.61. Still learning how best to launch the car. I have done a 5.47 0-100 so I think there is a 13.5 if I get the right conditions.

Love the car and it is a gem. 85,000km and one owner.

Really impressed with the Dragy app. So very close to the track times, a couple were identical in other runs. Next meeting is the 27th.

Uploaded the video. For some reason the sound was not recorded. Car is stock except for a F-Sport intake from the US. Sound is awesome (it's true) 🙂

    2012 Lexus IS350 F-Sport * Dragy Test * 1/4 Mile * Willowbank Raceway * 13.7

    The runs were;

    1: 13.907 @ 101.37 mph
    2: 14.113 @ 99.2 mph (Lots of heat soak)
    3: 13.730 @ 100.67 mph (After a good 45 minute cool down)
    4: 13.965 @ 99.38 mph.

Nice work mate! I took my ISF there a few weeks ago and did 13.3. Was my first time and was a 40c day haha. Was a lot of fun. Looking forward to the next one.

  2. I paid $55k for my 2011 last year with 48kms. I thought that was an awesome deal. Depends what this car is worth to you. I plan to hold onto mine forever as a collectable. Think these will be still kicking around in 10+ years due to their reliability factor.

They are definitely going up in value as the v8 market is dying. Looks like the next get c63 will be a 4 cylinder hybrid of some sort.

  3. It's personal preference. I was in the same position when I was looking to buy the F car. Decided to go with the ISF as it has 4 doors and would be more practical for the family. I think the ISF still looks good. You can update the tail lights and a few small visual things to make it look more modern.

If you're after updated modern interior and modern features get the RCF.

Both cars are pretty rare and I think you'll love either one.

This one is in NSW, being sold by a dealer for a reasonable price. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2013-lexus-is-is-f-auto-my13/OAG-AD-18730643/?Cr=0&gts=OAG-AD-18730643&gtsSaleId=OAG-AD-18730643&gtsViewType=topspot&rankingType=topspot Seems fairly clean as well.

I have one with the same colour and I was settled on that colour when I bought mine - I've yet to see another one of that colour in Victoria. Perhaps you can consider buying it without stamps and transfer fees and have it brought down, then register it at VicRoads.

That's a bargain! I paid $55k for a 2011 pearl white with 46 000kms last October. It had full bolt ons and came with spare bbs wheels and all the parts taken off the car.

Been very quite on here for a while lads! Where's everyone gone?

Anyway... Got 40k out of my pilot super sports but the time has come for some new rubber!

MPSS are discontinued and have been replaced by the PS4S (quoted $1520 for 4 corners by Bob). Anyone have any experience with these tyres or can recommend something else?

    I'm running 245/35's F and 275/30's R

I just fitted RE003 in the front and AD08R rear. Front grips nicely in courners and no more wheel spin in the rear with FBO.  245/35's F and 275/30's R

Cool thanks for that. Yes only after sound, i dont expect to get miraculous gains from an intake only. Plus the is350's 233kw is more than enough for a daily driver

Can i ask where you purchased your intake from?

I was lucky enough to purchase mine brand new from a member in Adelaide. His new Lexus arrived in a wrong colour so he just ended up buying a Mercedes instead, and he had already purchased lots of mods for a Lexus haha.

You can purchase the intake on Ebay from USA. They are about $700ish but it is well worth it. Completely transforms the car.

  7. Hi all,

I've done some custom exhaust work on my ISF axle back, and will be selling the JoeZ axle back portion.

The cat back exhaust initially cost around $3200 shipped from USA.

I'm looking for $900 for the axle back. If I can't get $900 I'll just keep it.

The parts are in excellent condition. This is possibly the best sounding exhaust for the ISF. Bit too loud for wifey...

Located in Brisbane. Happy to ship Australia wide at buyer's expense.

Can contact me on 0422 344 582 if interested.

just going to order air intake for  08 IS250 any advice before I buy one, ( best one, easiest to fit, best power, is it worth it so on )

I had a Takeda intake on my is350 and it was very loud from about 3500rpm. Sounded like a V8.

Highly recommend it you want sound. No experience with other brands.

Didn't feel any power gains to be honest.

  9. Installed a $30 eBay rear bumper diffuser. Came out looking pretty good.

The diffuser comes with 7 fins and fits just fine as long as you remove the 2 plastic bits connected to the rear exhaust tips.

I decided to just cut off one fin from each side of the diffuser and this way it fits without any bumper modifications. The screws supplied are pretty crap as you can see in the photo but I have since replaced them with a flat head screw from Bunnings, which now blends in.

That sounds sweet! I've heard people say that the f sport intake is supposed to give around 5hp gains but probably won't sound as good as takeda. Hmmm hard choice

All depends on what you're after. I was just after the sound and didn't mind the slight hp loss. But you have an exhaust so the sound should be sorted anyway.

  11. Yesterday I saw 10L on the highway. Normal city driving around 13L in stop go traffic with the aircon on, but on average I sit around 10-12L. Not sure if the PPE headers and exhaust help with fuel economy. Basically it is roughly the same economy as my old is350.

The RCF is a completely different tune to ISF so that could play a part also. Think the RCF makes 50hp more over the stock ISF.
