  1. Its wicked. It got me off the Snow and ice a few weeks back. The Altezza is such a great car for taking to the Mountain. Its not like the normal TRC where it cuts the power when loss of traction occurs. It gives you power but not much.
  2. Its quite interesting. The IS200 motor was designed around 1984 or something. There use to be supercharged versions of this motor in the old Toyota Crowns. I wonder if anybody has tried a reco on one and tuned it accordingly.
  3. It only helps with a little fun in the rain. Is a dangerous diff for linking drifts. :o :P
  4. This is also caused by bad grounds. But I would find it strange that a newish Altezza would have bad grounds. Unless it has been repaired. My 180 does this really bad! Make sure you do Greeneyes steps asap or you could damage your alternater as it is always trying to charge the battery.
  5. You could be getting blow back. This can be caused by filling the car up with oil too much. Get the car checked asap.
  6. BTW. The 180SX does not have a Mcferson Strut type shock. Nothing like it at all! Trust me. I have owned a GTfour with Mcfersons. Biggest bitch in the whole wide world to get them out. 180 has 5 normal nuts and bolts and is dead straight.
  7. Hey mate. I have put Teins in my 180SX and they are awesome. Help with Drifting *BLEEP*loads. You may have problems with clearance though. Coilovers are usually closer to the rim for some reason. They are *BLEEP* easy to install. Just a replacement shock. Prob less than 8 bolts. I am changing the coilovers in 180 2moro. Takes me less than 2 hours to have the job done in no Rush. You will have problems with gaurd clearance aswell. Becarefull the wheels dont rub on the shocks.
  8. The car you saw on Ti Irangi Drive was him. He has those plates. Im sure it is silver though. Not Yellow.
  9. The Z has more option parts. It has metal peddels and door trims. And usually have optional parts like aero parts. My car is a Z. Alot of people advertise there cars as Z's but they arnt. To make sure if it is it will be printed at the end of the model numer under the bonnet. Clearly saying Z. Some others could give you more info on the differences.
  10. I paid NZ $16,500 for mine. Imported it myself. It is a 99 RS200 6spd Z. They have become quite popular at the auctions. R = Rapaired (Previous crash) **** = crashed Unless your expecting to spend more on the car it is best to stay away from R and * rated cars.
  11. Hey Shaun. Dan here. Im mates with your Flatmate Rob. Oh and ?UESTLOVE : That is about right. As he said he had trouble with traction. Meremere is a useless lumpy track. The Skid pad for Burnouts does just that! Makes you skid! The Aussie tracks are amazzing compaired to ours. Its how the car is set up aswell. No doubt the 280T has stiff rear suspention like my 180sx. Traction is non existant with high spring rates. By the way Shaun. Yours is by far the best Altezza I have seen on NZ's roads. Man it looks aggresive.
  12. Hmmm. Well im only missing one switch in my RS. Must be the rear fog light. As I just have normal lights and not headlight washers.
  13. That sounds about right. Let me know once you have checked your car.
  14. How much different is it? Most cars right hand light is not as high. But only slightly Guess it is for oncoming traffic.
  15. Hey people. Just wondering if anybody can help me figure out what switches I have missing. For some reason they are not there. There is a plug and two holes where switchs or controls once lived. The ones im missing are locted at the bottom of the dash closest to the Drivers door. There is meant to be 3. I have a coin holder in the first. Then two holes. My Altezza is an Rs200 Manual. I thoght it may have been where the driving lights are turned on but found they are turned on via one of the stalks. Cheers for any help.
  16. Well it looks like they came up very nice. And only roadkill see's the other side.
  17. Wow they look good ah. How did painting them while still on the car go? They are easy to get off and paint. Only 2 bolts.
  18. Im not too sure how much you guys are into Drift. But I find with the Torsen LSD it causes a few problems linking corners. Found that out last night. When you let go of the throttle then stab at it again it is like it has some hesitation to work! E.g. First corner power on. Linking to second oporsite corner power off till car comes back round then power on for corner itself. As soon as you power off the LSD does not function fully. Im guessing this has something to do with there being no tourqe at that stage. Can be dangerous. I would stick to your powerslides unless you purchase a better LSD.
  19. Spot on Hoon. I would never buy a rwd without an LSD! Not with the number plate DRFT IT!!! Hahaha. Man I wish the RS200 didn't have that flat spot just before the VVTI starts working. This cause me to have to rev her up a bit more to get decent tourqe.
  20. What no LSD! Ummm. Yes they do! My Altezza is stock standard. And it def has an LSD!
  21. ;) Hey. I was offered a factory gearknob for a cheaper price. My poor Tezza has had 3 taken now. 1 in Japan, 1 on the warfs and 1 outside my house. Left the window down :P If you have a factory manual knob to sell me email me on daniel.rollason@vodafone.co.nz Cheers
  22. It isn't really worth Drifting in any carparks or on the road these days. The police have no tolerance for it. It is classed as Dangerous driving and sustained loss of traction. If they catch you they instantly take your car. You will have to go to court who will fine you and take your licence. It is better to go to organised events. Begginers should go to events held in Baypark. Or grasskarnas. If your Altezza is an IS200 you may have a little trouble breaking traction. This makes it difficult and dangerous for a beginer such as yourself.
  23. Well Drifting my Altezza has been quite easy. It doesn't have enough power to keep it through the corner in the Dry but can easily in the wet. The LSD in my RS200 is standard but I find it is awesome and very tight. Car is standard. But comparing it to something like my 180SX type x it has completly different to drift. Alot snappier and takes a bit more to get her out with around half the power. Still fun though.
  24. From what I have heard most toyota motors including the 3SGE have weak conrods. No doubt this will be the first to go. Will require almost full engine replacement if this happens. It is better to plan for the worst and strengthen them.
