Common problem on the BA Ford Falcons. Often the switch needs to be removed and the metal contacts within cleaned with meths and sandpaper.

My 1997 ES300, a recent purchase, has 282K kms on the clock and the engine & transmission seem sound. Well overdue for a timing belt kit replacement (every 100K kms & over $400 inc water pump & seals). It goes well despite some neglect.

Does the Australian 1997 Lexus ES300 have an OBD socket? If so where is it located?
