  2. It's actually the whole rear windscreen. Lexus are getting windscreen obrien in to replace the entire thing. That's why they need it for 2 days. I asked the lexus service manager and he said he's had a reasonable number of is250s come in for an entire rear winder swap........scary. Moonroof rattles aswell but is easily fixed temporary with rubber lubricant.....still sucks that the moonroof fix is not permanent though.
  3. All, Just like to share that I had this loud rattling noise coming from the rear window/parcel shelf area. Turns out it's some sort of rear windscreen defect and the lexus dealership need to replace my whole rear window. So my car is out for at least 2 days to fix this, and the continued sqeaking noise coming from my sunroof.......A little disappointed at the quality so far since I've had to go in 3 times now. Anyone else have the same problems with your is250?
  4. ozis250, I have been getting quotes from FedEx, and UPS and they are more than triple that to ship for a set of OEM 18s from the sports with Bridgestone’s (posted from LA). I have had somebody selling on ebay weigh one wheel (with a Bridgestone Potenza RE050 tyre), and he said it was about 40 lbs (or 18 Kg). From FedEx and UPS both are over $770 US (about $930 Au) to post 160 lbs to Sydney. How did you manage $350 AU? Hi, I got them from Tirerack....a large wheel and tyre chain in the US. Goto www.tirerack.com for details. For some reason there shipping worldwide is much cheaper than the ebay sellers. It's likely because they have such buying power and large volumns that they get these woldwide shipping rates. I purchased further items from them and their shipping was half of the ebay sellers. As for the tyres, if there's any concern buy them here in Australia. Otherwise suggest buying same spec tyres that are the same ones imported into Australia. PM me if you would like further details.
  5. I bought my set of 18" OZ racing rims and dunlop direzza tyres from the US and the shipping came to about $350 fed ex to the my home door in 5 days. Very good. I would take art_76 advice and buy from a lexus dealer. You don't want to end up with replicas that are cheap alloy and heavy. All up including Aus taxes and customs duty the full package still came in around 50% cheaper than the best price I could get here so it's definitely worth doing. Also a tip is to buy the rims with a good set of Donlup/Bridgestone/Pirelli tyres aswell. The tyres are significantly cheaper in the US. Have them shipped fitted to the rim.
  6. Make sure when you do get the kit that it does come with the rubbber gromit as it makes the install much easier. My MTEC kit did not come with one so I had to make my own and silcon the hole to ensure it's air and water tight. So far so good. No fogging or condesation in the lense. I also have not experienced any of the flickering issues thats been mentioned and I also don't have any error messages some up on the dash. Also becareful when thinking about buying the slim line philips ballasts. It's slim because the ignitor is a separate box so you may end up having to install 4 boxes in the engine bay rather than 2.
  7. Hi Dafidav, FYI I bought and installed the MTEC Xenon kit. I got the 6000k bulbs which gives a nice blue tint. Installed for about 5 months now with no problems at all. Can't remember exactly how much but I think I paid including shippping from US roughly $420AUS. Hope this helps.
  8. Hi There, I had a different experience with my IS250. Just picked up on December 10 2006. My rep from Sydney City Lexus, quoted 57K for Base model inc Sunroof, Auto and All onroad costs. And that was without bargining. I dont know if its cheap, but i thought that was OK. I ended up with a Prestige + Auto + Enhancement Pack with sunroof and ML Audio. for $63800 inc onroad costs. Is that OK? Comes with 7 year warranty and 3 years free servicing. Can anyone tell me if been jipped? :) Leeman I can confirm Leeman got a very good deal. The closest of heard for the exact same spec is $65000 drive away. I got a simialr deal through a corporate deal but I didn't go with the enhancement pack. Looking at what deal you got, are you on a lexus corporate plan?
  9. Hi, I've had some minor issues too but nowhere as serious as Rap03.......taking it back 10 times is unacceptable, I'll ask for a new car. Anyway, I've had my is250 for about 4 months and the sunroof started squeaking and rattling. But I took it into the dealership and they fixed with some lubricant. Still, not what I would expect from a lexus. Also I am getting the odd rattle in the interior around the dash but can't locate it, but overall okay. Service from lexus is also a bit up and down though to be fair this could be dealership dependant...though in theory they all should be the same. Having a 325ci BMW previously, the lexus interior, panel fittment quality, service is in my opinion much better, but I expect it to be becuase it has to win customers over in areas where it may fall short ie. engine and chasis and lesser extent handling. I'm going to give my first lexus a go for another couple of years, but I'm starting to feel myself shifting slightly back to a german car. ie. BMW. next time around.
  10. Sorry no pics yet. But from what I can tell, the 6000k I've got comes out much bluer than I expected. If your after the stock "White" xenon look then I suggest you get the 4000K. Also.....The MTEC kit I bought "DID NOT" come with the rubber grommit. Make sure the kit you get does. Enquire before you buy. Cheers.
  11. Hi dku250, I've installed the MTEC 6000k kit on my prestige. So far so good. TIP: Make sure you get a kit with a rubber grommit included to seal the hole you have to drill for teh wires, else I had to make my own and use sealant which was a major pain in the Butt. Just make sure the philips kit or any kit for that matter does not have the ignitor separate to the ballasts coz you'll end up fiddling around to secure 4 boxes inside your engine bay as opposed to 2. The MTEC kit has the ignitor integrated with the ballasts so it makes things easier. Cheers.
  12. Hi Palms, That sounds quite serious. Let us know what the dealer has to say about that. FYI I'm normally around the Chatswood/Artarmon/St Leonards area where there's heaps of radio towers and I've had no trouble. ozis250.
  13. I ordered the Prestige with Sunroof, tint and rear sensors in Granite. I didn't bother with the enhancement pack. I ordered the Prestige with Sunroof, tint and rear sensors in Granite. I didn't bother with the enhancement pack. ozis250, Rear sensors on the Prestige? Is that an option? I havent had any of the dealers in Sydney tell me about that. Ordered an is250 Prestige with 18" Lexus Mutispoke Wheels on Wednesday. Would love to get Rear sensors if possible, the car looks to be difficult to reverse into a tight spot due to limited rearward view. How much are they? Yep, Lexus of Chatswood offer rear sensors as option. For $600. But becareful as it's not the fully integrated sensors where you see the car display on the dash. It's just the beeping sound with no display. Very disappointing. Anyway got my new car for 5 weeks now. Running 18" OZ turrismo rims with +40 Offset on 235/40r18 Dunlop D101s. No rubbing at all! Car handles significantly better when cornering (less body roll) and hardly any detriment to ride quality, only very slight more bumpy than the standard 16". Actually for the better and you feel the road and the steering seems have more feel too.
  14. Hi, I got the dealer fitting rear sensors on my prestige, but all it was is the sensors and the beeper. It did not integrate with the lexus on board computer at all! So no display on dask. Was quite disappointed. The dealer (Lexus of Chatswood) said only the Sport and the Luxury have it integrated to the on board lexus computer. I'd be very interested if you find out something different from your enquiries.

  16. Hi Carro Loco, Both wheels look great. Hard to decide. It's good that you found a place to trade the original tyres in particularly for $100 each....some money is better than nothing. What are the offsets of the Avanti and SSW wheels you're getting? So did any of the wheel shops say a what minimum offset will be alright? In terms of wheels I've ordered OZ Racing Superturismo 18x8" +40mm offset On a set of 235/40 r18 Dunlop Direzza. Should arrive within the next 3 weeks.....just in time for the car. Also not sure if you're aware but just in case you're not, If you get a 18x7.5inch wide rim like the sets you're lookin at, you're restricted to a max. 225 width tire. ozis250.
  17. Hi All, I'm a newbie and just purchased an is250 but have to wait till early Oct for delivery. However here are some specs you maybe interested in. Stock Lexus 18" Front: Tyres 225/40 r18 Rims: 18x8" Offset +45mm Rear: Tyres 255/40 r18 Rims: 18x8.5" Offset +50mm I've had some experience in fitting aftermarket wheels to my previous cars. The fundamental thing to get correct to avoid wheel rubbing is to get the wheel offset correct. Then the next step is the Width of the Wheel which subsequently determines the Max width of the tyre. I've already ordered 235/40 r18 tyres and 18x8" +40mm offset alloys for my car, so when I get my car and fit them on, i'll let everyone know whether there's any rubbing. If there is, then avoid +40mm offset, but I'm fairly confident that there shouldn't be. A rule of thumb is to always stick close to the original manufacturer offset specs.
