  1. I have the OEM owners manual and installation guide in front of me and the operating temp says minus 15 to 70. I have attached the layout of the components - hope it helps.
  2. Art - to check just open the front passenger door. There is a sticker low down that has colour code. Check it against the colour code on Sewell's website. For people with black the code changed for the 2007 onwards from 202 (Onyx) to 212 (Obsidian) although Lexus Aust. still refer to it on their website/brochure as Onyx - it is definitely Obsidian 07 on. Also, anybody buying from Sewell you can always use the promotion code CLUBLEXUS to get a discount. The IS F spoiler is $374 (USD) instead of $425.
  3. Welcome sipit, good choice in buying an IS250. Differences with the X over the Prestige Two limited edition colours – Arctic Blue and Vermilion (also available in Black) * sports suspension * 14-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system * sunroof * satellite navigation * rear view camera * Bluetooth handsfree * smooth leather seats (Note: misses out on the heating and cooling) * sports pedals * metallic scuff plates * unique five-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels * and the all important ’X’ badging Other point to know: Available only with black interior (which I would have chosen anyway). Since I bought an X my opinion is biased, but well worth it in my opinion. Also note that you can option the Prestige with the Stereo/Sunroof/Rear view camera and Bluetooth, so main differences will then be wheels, suspension and seats.

  5. Not me, my car stayed locked away in the garage today. Doesn't go out all that often. Used it for a wedding (groom and best man, not bride) - with ribbon and all last Sunday. Expected to see a spotted post for sure... Spent hours cleaning it - then it rained...hard, so no good pics.
  6. The lower part of the box just has extra hole (facing the front of the car), and is smoother on the inside, other than that it is pretty much the same shape as the original one. The top part or the box retains the existing part. So it is no more suitable for a pod than the original.
  7. With the Paris motor show beginning today some pics of the IS250C have appeared before the doors have opened... Carscoop and Club Lexus IS250C So is anyone here considering one? What do you guys think of it?
  8. I will take some better shots on the weekend, but until then here is all I took during the install of the intake Intake parts - prior to installing Intake installed - before putting engine cover back on.
  9. I might have a couple of shots of the intake still on the camera that are OK that I will put up tonight. I will take some more on the weekend.
  10. heard it went well but the cost was a little more than expected due to customs It went relatively well. We got the goods in about a week, and had online tracking which we all checked regularly. Customs was $470 for about $3000 in parts. All parts were well packaged, and all arrived at my place 2 massive boxes in perfect condition. With customs, delivery and parts, one of the other members got the full kit delivered for almost smack on $1000. I got the full kit and a couple of extra goodies (F-Sport intake, and Lexus lock nuts) for about $1500 all up. I installed all parts myself so I was happy with the price I paid. Loving the F-Sport intake... I notice that Sewell has further discounted the kit, but that's the way it goes.
  11. This page on Whereis shows that sales are suspended for some vehicles as version 15 is coming soon - but not for Lexus. Whereis Like you pygothian my house number isn't on v14 and I have been here for over 4 years. It also shows a roundabout where there are lights near my house (roundabout was replaced at least 4 years ago).
  12. I use this one and would highly recommend it. Monster: MOH005 Good fit, can close the console and keep your iPod and cables hidden at all times. Plugs into the bottom of your iPod and then has a line out. Has 3 stage LEDs to show charging status. I picked it up off ebay new for about $30. Try US ebay also, some cheap ones there. Here is what it looks like in the console
  13. You can use a program to make a DVD-A (such as DVDAGUI), but it converts your mp3s to wav which kind of negates the extra space a DVD will give you since a wav file will be much larger then the original mp3. Stick with mp3 CDs (you can use all 6 slots in the changer for CD mp3s). However, I would suggest using an mp3 player, such as an iPod connected to your AUX port to save burning and re-burning all the time.
  14. I bought a can of this: Sonax - Wheel Rim Coating about 2 weeks ago, but haven't tried it yet since it has been raining every time I have attempted to wash the car since. Will hopefully try it this weekend.
  15. Gerald, count me also. I also plan on getting the F-Sport Intake, so I will pay the difference in postage that it adds also. I will PM you my contact details soon. For anyone else thinking about joining in on this, this is the kit: Lexus Complete IS GFX Package. It comes in factory colours, so doesn't require painting.
  16. Have a look at the my.is website. If you replace just the glass, you will lose the heater in the side mirror, not that I have used mine as yet, but I guess I haven't owned my car during a Winter as yet. What price have Lexus quoted on replacing?
  17. The CD itself does not contain the names of the songs. When your PC does this in Media Player/ITunes etc it is getting the names from an online database. Until your car audio system can connect to the Internet there is no way to show the names with the original music CD. The answer is to rip the tracks using Windows Media Player etc to MP3/WMA and then burn a data disk of them. ML will then show track names. The other advantage is you can get quite a few albums on to a single MP3 disc. Nice choice of car, I have had my X for almost 2 months now.
  18. The kit is $172.95 delivered or $194 in an aluminium case delivered. When I had just washed the car, I poured clean water from a bucket over the boot and it pretty much already did what the videos show, and that was before I applied the sealant. I guess the paint is very smooth being so new, but I will see when I wash it on the weekend if it is as good as the videos look on the rest of the car. I took it out and had a good look at it today. It does look stunning. It definitely looks better then when I picked it up. At the moment I would certainly recommend it to somebody with a new car. I just hope it lasts a while. Here are 2 of many pics I took.
  19. My DIY kit arrived last Tuesday. Ordered it Saturday night, got a call on Monday to say it was being processed and it was delivered on Tuesday, so we were off to a good start. I spent about 5 hours today applying it. The new car kit has a car wash, a pre cleaner, and the actual paint sealant. It also has a sponge, 2 microfiber cloths, a chamois and 2 applicator pads. You start by using the wash. I didn't use the supplied sponge, but used a Meguiars lamb wool wash mitt. I used 2 buckets one with the wash/water and the 2nd with clean water. After cleaning each panel, I rinsed the wash mitt. Next it's time to chamois it dry, using the supplied chamois. After just a wash the car wash looking much better then when I picked it up, which was not a clean as I would have expected. It had a number of marks, and you could see where the dealer removed the protective plastic that was stuck on some panels when the car was shipped. Next you apply the micro pre-cleaner, which prepares the paint for the sealant. You apply then buff it with the supplied microfiber cloth. This removed a few marks that the dealer had kindly placed on my new black paint as mentioned above. At this stage I was already getting a bit tired (although that may have been due to having had about 2 hours sleep), however there were still 2 steps to go. Next the actual sealant was applied. Initially applied to one panel at a time then buffed with another supplied (larger) micro-fibre cloth, you then re-apply and leave it for 10-15 minutes and buff it yet again. So the whole car ends up getting buffed 3 times, 1 time with pre cleaner and 2 times with sealant. So by the end my arms had well and truly had enough. Now I am sure you are wondering how it looks. Well... I did the whole thing in my garage with 2 fluorescent lights above and natural light through an open panel lift door (none of the application should be done in sun light, so I chose to do it all in the garage). By the time I was finished it was already getting a little dark outside. So I haven't seen it totally in good light, but in my garage with fluorescent lights it does look exceptionally good. If you see photos (after photos that is) on any of the sites mentioned above, you will see they all are extremely reflective, wet looking, which my car is. However to be honest, after just the wash it was already very reflective (it is only a week old). I did take some photos as I was going but they are when the car is in the garage, so I am not sure if they will be much of a guide, and I haven't looked at the photos as yet. One thing I liked a lot was that the pre cleaner and the sealant don't leave white marks or dust everywhere (when buffed) like when I use a normal wax. There is really very little at all, which would be noticeable on a black car. Also the products buff off relatively easily. Previously I had only used Meguriars products (not on this car as this was its first wash)which I find leave quite a lot of white dust and also get into gaps in panels leaving a white paste behind. What the test will be is when I wash it next time and then time and time after that. If it stays anything like it is now, then I will be very happy. It is supposed to make regular washing easier and dirt is not supposed to stick as well to the sealant, and also the sealant repels water which will make drying it easier. It is probably too early for me to give a good recommendation. But so far I am very impressed. It is time consuming but hopefully worth it. I will post again tomorrow time permitting after I have a good look over it.
  20. After reading every page on the website you mention, I have ordered the DIY kit. I just picked up my black IS250 X today so I will apply it as soon as it arrives. I will also post up how things go. Thanks for the link kinjiru.
  21. Not sure if this is of interest to anybody, but there is a set of what looks like new 18" sports wheels with tyres on ebay Australia at the moment (ends in a couple of days). ebay link
  22. ozis250, I have been getting quotes from FedEx, and UPS and they are more than triple that to ship for a set of OEM 18s from the sports with Bridgestone’s (posted from LA). I have had somebody selling on ebay weigh one wheel (with a Bridgestone Potenza RE050 tyre), and he said it was about 40 lbs (or 18 Kg). From FedEx and UPS both are over $770 US (about $930 Au) to post 160 lbs to Sydney. How did you manage $350 AU?
