  1. I've just had the windscreen replaced on my LS400 (95 model). Took it back because the wind noise was bad. They worked on it for hours. Reset, put extra gunk around it did many test drives with it, but to me it's still not right. It just isn't as quiet as it was. The replacement windscreen was non-genuine. I read on an English forum that some guy swore that once the original factory fitted windscreen is gone and replaced with an aftermarket you will never get the same level of quiet. Anyone else had this problem or should I be going back to the fitter again?
  2. I've had a bit of bad luck and my LS400 has been taken to Fowles Auctions in Altona to be sold off. The car had a front end collision. It's not that bad but the parts are so prohibitively expensive the insurance company decided it was easier to "total" the car than repair it. 1996 LS 400 - market value $21K. Repair estimate $18.5K It'll probably go up for auction next week. Could be of interest to some of you guys.
  3. I"ve recently purchased a 1996 LS400. Do any members have a recommendation of someone who can service the car? I'm looking for an indepedant mechanic that really knows his way around one of these cars and charges a fair price. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  4. I'm getting exactly the same problem. Did you find out what was causing this?
  5. Hi All, Found this forum after Googling. After years behind the wheel of a Merc I have just bought an LS400. I had $25K to spend on a brand new second hand car. Tried a few E320's at $25K, then tried a 1996 LS400 advertised at $21K. It won me over straight away. Absolutely loved the ride and performance and handling (I'm a lazy driver ) Paid $18K in the end for it. 150k on the clock. I just hope it rewards my confidence in it. I'm thinking of gold badging it. Is that crass or is that cool? <_< Anyone know where I can get that done for a reasonable price. Look forward to hopefully making some worthy contributions to the forum over time. Cheers Princkly.
