  1. Hey Paul, I am intending on heading down to the dealers next week after work so that I can go through the options list with them and configure what I would like. Will post back once done. You're also correct, sometimes it's the little things that count. For me, it's the halo of the 3 binnacles after you have unlocked the car and they glow so expectantly :D
  2. Hi Poisson, I'm not sure about the external lights being able to be turned on when the remote is pressed. I think this is hooked up to the alarm from factory and not sure if there is an option to change it. Saying to that however, there is an option to leave the headlights on for a minute or so after stopping. It's part of the "Lexus Personalised Settings". I believe one of the options allows the lights to be left on for up to 60 or 90 seconds after you have turned off the car and opened the door. It has to be done through the dealer I believe. I will be going to the dealer to have a few options changed on my 330 (i.e. power door can activate without having to unlock the whole car first). I will also get to see what other things can be changed etc.
  3. Dropped price to $9000. I am negotiable on price. I would really like this car gone ASAP.
  4. Have dropped the price to $9500 ono. I am open to genuine offers. Either PM me or call me on 0407 380 658.
  5. Selling my ES300 that has served me well. I am upgrading to a RX330 Sports Luxury, so this is the only reason I am letting this car go. The car is a MY97 released near the end of 1996. Contact and pricing details after the pictures The car is clear titled, has had no accidents and has travelled average kilometers for this year. As you would know these engines don't even hit half-life until around 300000km's. The car has travelled mostly highway & country driving and is currently just under 219000km's. The registration for the ES is paid through until January 2011, so it has a long rego ahead of it. Additionally, the timing belt service has been done, so it's just regular maintenance and servicing that needs to be done. The ES would make a great addition as a second car or a student car. This car is reliable. Features on this ES are ABS Brakes Climate Controlled Air Conditioning Alarm Heated and Electric Mirrors Electric Windows Electroluminescent Gauges Driver and Passenger Airbags Tinted windows Automatic Headlights 6 Disc CD Player Cruise Control Automatic Aerial The car is in very good condition and I am only selling to make way for a new vehicle. Price is $10,500 ono. I will negotiate price with a sensible offer. Genuine interest only please. Call Will on 0407 380 658
  6. There is a guy down the road from me selling his Toyota Harrier (Lexus RX330). He had originally imported this from Japan so hence the Harrier bits and pieces. The main issue I have with the car is that the navigation unit is all in Japanese. Hence the GPS is in Japanese, bluetooth (yes on a 2003) is in Japanese, TV is in Japanese (wrong signal), buttons for the whole nav unit (except for a few here and there) and in Japanese. How hard is it going to be to convert from Japanese to English? Will I need a new screen? Will I just need a software update? Is it just going to be a different disc? The buttons to change menus I can live with, but it's more the touch screen functions that are a problem. Additionally the radio, as it is Japanese, is a different source code here in Australia, so I would have to get a different unit. That bit is not overly hard to do, so it's the least of my concerns. Anyone know anybody that has done this? Was it a pain? Should I not bother and just buy a locally delivered one? Thoughts?
  7. Thanks LexusAussie. I really do like the halo thing. I know it's something simple, but that's just me.
  8. Hi All, I drove a 2005 RX330 the other day and noticed that on entry to the vehicle the tacho, speedo binnacles had a halo that illuminated around each of the 3. However I don't know if the pre-2005 RX's did the same thing (i.e. 2003, 2004 release). Can anyone please advise whether the 2003/2004 RX330's had this or not? Also does anyone have a copy of the 2003 PDF manual?
  9. Thanks Poisson, glad to know that you are able to help. I did manage to get hold of the dealer who allowed us to take out a RX330 for about 1.5 hours. The car fitted the garage and I have now found out that to use the tail gate in the garage, I would have to reverse it in. To give an indication of the height, the rear wiper on the tail gate is about 2-3 inches from the ceiling of the garage. The car is able to get in there quite easily. I believe you have a RX350, which from what I have read is slightly taller than than the 330? I have now driven both a 330 and 350, and the 350 I have to admit is perkier than the 330 in throttle response. The gear changes feel smooth, and better than my ES300. I also do love the screen of the 350 as it is much much clearer. Alas the budget is probably not going to stretch that far for a 350. We will be aiming to buy a 330 at the end of the year and sell of the ES300. Don't you love compromises :D
  10. Thanks Poisson, still would like to test though. Of course if it has too narrow an approach, then that may just be the trigger I need for air suspension LOL :P
  11. First up - Happy New Year. Just wanting to see if there are any RX330 or RX350 Lexus Owners on this forum. If there is, I am wanting to see if they are able to assist me. We are intending to purchase an RX330 (most likely) by the end of the year and as we have a sloped drive way, we are unsure whether or not the RX will go into the garage without too much of an issue. The RX will fit in the garage without a problem, but it's more getting in from the slope that's the issue we are looking at. Is there a WA owner who might be able to assist me on this "test"? I will contact a dealer as well during the week, to see whether I can borrow a car for an hour or so, but won't have a response until next week. I live in Willagee (next door to Melville) - cnr Stock and Leach Hwy for bearings. Please PM me or give me a call on 0407 380 658. Thanks.
  12. We are planning on buying an RX330 (hopefully a RX350) in the next couple of years. Obviously the 350 is going to cost us more to purchase than say a 330, and I understand that the 330 lacks "get up and go". I am still going through the forums an google trying to figure out whether we should get an RX330 / RX350. I have been reading some worrying issues with these cars (particularly on the US forums). Being a Lexus owner (and having owned 5 of them), this is starting to concern me. What are the bad points of owning the car given maintenance, longevity, reliability? What are the things that you have gone through to keep the RX on the road? How much has it cost you? I find it slightly disheartening to find that the RX does not appear to be as reliable as say my previous SC's from 1992, and my current 96 ES300. Dash squeaks from what I am reading, will make me tear my hair out, and I don't want to go through that. The "booming" effect when the rear windows are down is also concerning me. Apparently problems with the diff leaking. Please give me honest feedback. I will continue to read through the other threads, but I wanted to get a snapshot in one thread. Also from an Aussie perspective can you please let me know how you have found the consumption of fuel in the 330/350's as I have read that city it is about 17.6L/100kms and the country is 9.6L/100km's. I'm not too worried with fuel (as we have to pay it anyway), so just need some honest feedback. I am still making a decision on possibly buying a GS300, driving that for about 2-3 years and then potentially seeing if we can eventually afford a RX Hybrid at some stage.
  13. WTB 2000/2001 ES300 Tail Lights Looking for a set to update my existing look. The 2000/2001 ES300 tail lights are the ones that are clear all the way through the centre. Example
  14. Thanks ProjectIS. We are a fairly small market when compared to somewhere like the US or even the UK.
  15. :D Hey Hank, I do check the buy and sell now and then to see if they may come about. Haven't seen any yet (and if they are I must not be seeing it). They're rare to come across though.
  16. All I need now is some clear tail lights for the car & eventually some wheels.
  17. Oh and by the way guys welcome to the forum. Post up some pics of your car when you get a chance.
  18. Revolver and Ambler, not too sure about the queries about this. Probably best hitting some other Lexus club forums to see what can be done. This forum unfortunately tends to almost be a ghost town with hardly anyone chiming in from time to time. Probably best posting to somewhere like www.clublexus.com/forums.
  19. Hey Hank, Thanks for the welcome. See you are as new a member as me. Interesting thing is that whether it's an ES300 or any other model, and if so many people have actually viewed it, you would at least say a quick hello, instead of just a forum member if they don't drive the same vehicle as you. That's the sort of thing that makes people turn off a forum and migrate elsewhere like I have done. No respect or friendliness, no point in trying. Welcome back to yourself and why have you been gone so long :D if you could PM the details about your wheels, that would be fantastic.
  20. Wow!!! 37 views, yet no-one has even been kind enough to even say hello. Doesn't appear that this is too friendly a place. Looks like I will stick to some of the USA forums, as they at least say hello etc. and would help you out.
  21. Hi all :D Thought I would introduce myself and my "new" late 96 Lexus ES300 which I just picked up last weekend. I love this car, and it is the 5th Lexus I have now owned. The other 4 were all Toyota Soarers (1 * V8 & 3 * Turbos). I have been up until last Saturday been driving around in a Volvo which turned out to be an absolute lemon. I picked up this beauty (it's an S pack) and have been loving it ever since. My word does it feel awesome to be back behind the wheel of a Lexus. My car's kilometres are slightly high but on average for it's year (203000km's). It has been ell maintained by the previous owner. I am planning to mod this car slightly over the next year or 2, but no overly. I still have plans to one day get myself behind the wheel of a GS300, but that's going to take a while to save up for. I will eventually get some wheels (probably 17's); double-din stereo and some leather seat covers (as I have cloth seats). Another thing I have started looking into is whether or not I can find some electric seats for the front and then figure out a way to wire them. I have also dabbled with the idea of getting seats from a Camry Grande and seeing whether or not this would fit the rails of the ES300. So without further adue, I present "Winnie". Named from Toyota Windom (in Japan) and Lexus (Lexy - too common), so it stuck and that's what she's called.
