  1. And about this time your scratching your head what Air Con Filters. All Soarers have filters that clean the air before it has the chance to reach our cabin and as you didnt know you had the neither did the Jap owner when he drove the car for 10+ years in his/her smog filled city. Removal for cleaning is a very simple procedure with no tools required. 1) Remove the under glovebox panel at the passengers feet which is held in by two black plastic push-in clips at the rear and four hidden clips at the front. Remove the rear plugs then pull the panel down and towards you to release the front clips. This is very easy to do and not much force is required at all. 2) Getting your body it an unnatural position and look up, remove the two wingnuts, that hold the cover on and gently push to one side. 3) Start sliding the filter straight down. The filter is actually in two sections with a fold in the middle. Once the first half is visible, fold it to the side and keep sliding downwards until the second half slides out. 4) Once you have removed the filter, look back into the slot and you will see the tab at the bottom of the second filter. You have to jiggle and slide it towards you in the slot, then slide it down and out the same as you did the first. 5) Clean the filters very gently with detergent, sugar soap has also been suggested I used some high strength detergent from the Bin Inn. You may have to do this a couple of times as the water should be very black. ==>>DO NOT SCRUB THE FILTER<<== as it is thin paper and will rip, Just sway it back and forward lightly to ease the water through it. 6) When fully dry which the filter should look greyish as not all grime is removeable, carefully replace the filters by reversing the procedure, and check that the lugs on the bottom of the filter fit into the slots in the bracket. 7) There you go smell the clean air. Your other option is to buy 2 new filters from Toyota for about $60 to $80 each and just replace them. I liked my cheap option which cost me about $2 worth of cleaning fluid.
  2. Hi SilverJet. Front mount ic is always a good idea as the standard one is prone to heat soak. If you do run a fmic you will find that the pipe will run the same track as the current one and will run where you are planning to put ya filter. a BFI is all good but i have never liked the idea of hacking into the filter box, Another option for an ic is to replace the current one with one from the new supras as it is a straight swap and is thicker, not as much gain from a fmic but alot better than the standard one. And if ya want the bov sound it will tripple in loudness if you cange to a pod filter but being an auto only when the throttle is lifted.
  3. Hey Tim. Those were the rims i wanted for a while now but i started looking in a different shop but he has dicked me around to much so i have gone back to them again. If they came in chrome i would go that way but my choice is limited to Graphite, Silver or Gold. I plan going 235 35 19 front and 275 30 19 on rear. In the end when money is more my friend i do plan to change the colour to a lighter blue. My taste at the mo is for the Blue on the new Fords XR6 Turbos but i would add some gold flakes in as well. Unfortunatly when i got my car i didnt have the pleasue with time to fine a Manual as my prelude had surcome to rust and was not road worth. So its an auto for now also. If you can get me a R154 gearbox on the cheap ill take it. Just some info for ya only 5% of all Soarers are manual. your a lucky sod if you have one.
  4. While ya asking can you find out if they do the Bomex Type 2 Bumper too. Its the one with the slit below the right headlight to allow a little more air to the filter. Here is links to all Kits that are Soarer there might be a pic of the Vertex rear Swampy. I prefer the vertex sides and rear but the Bomex front. Thats my future kit. http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html#06 there is pics of about 32 kits in all and the Vertex Kit you are after is under Car Make T&E. Happy Surfing. :D Oh just did a seach in that link but the rear under the vertex area is actually Do-Luck. To give you an idea of what it looks like it goes along the theme of the sides and is a straight drop/lip. Looks good, if i knew how to posts pics i would save you the trouble of reading. Ill keep looking till i find a link for ya.
  5. Hi im on Auckland's North Shore I have a blue TT Soarer so far had it lowered, tints, air filter, momo steering wheel, new head unit and rear speakers, changed 8" free air sub to a 15" in the boot. i am currently looking for new mags so i can put the high performace air i have in them hahahahaha.
  6. to replace just the lcd you have to remove alot of soldering as it is connected to some kind of circut board it is also very iffy as ya dont want to flex the screen or you r back to step 1. what i did was just buy a ac unit that was not working and swapped the lcd screen section with the one in my ac unit so i ended up with one that worked. One thing Startrade did not mention was that the bulbs had been removed on the one they sent me so at night ya cant see jack. I just have to get around to swapping them over too. It cost me $150 - $200 nz $ of the unit and i did all the swapping at home as it was easy as pie and i had all the nessesary instructions to remove the dash etc it only took me 5 hrs and 4.5 hours was gettint the center console out. I went to Toyota spares in Akld for one and it would cost me $500 to $750 to get one from them. Your choice really, pay $500 for one that is sure to work or get a faulty one and combine them to get a working one with nice new lcd on the cheap.
  7. I would recommend that size too. 1, because there will be probs with that size for sure and 2, Its wiser to have them all the same width as then you can rotate the wheels to get even wear and last a little longer. When you decide let us know what style you are going for so we can all see.
  8. You will find that size of the rims doesnt matter but width of them does. I know of some soarers with the right offset they have fitted 20" wheels and 18x10 wheels in the back and 1 extreme case of 18x10.5. Though i am unsure if these people have had to do any changes most but likely no changes were needed. I have also heard that on some cases the wheel rubs the air bag which is not good at all. Any mag store would be able to see if you will encounter problems fitting the wheels you want, you should aslo make them aware of you concern. Usually there are no problems if the offset is correct. What wheels you thinking of fitting and what size eg 19x8, 19x9, 19x10???
  9. Your best bet would to be to get one from Toyota as like most companies in NZ finding one that has something made especially for the soarer is hard going. If you do manage to get one my tip is to leave it in the sun to warm up as they become easier to fit and more plyable. Sorry I cant be much more help than that.
  10. Startrade is a good company. I got a second hand a/c unit from them as my lcd unit had heat damage. The badge covers all the holes bar 1 i think, and i also think there a different sizes that are available. Oh if you are going to change the Lexus do a proper job and get the SC400 badge as well. one more thing here is a list that startrade done up for the most asked Q's for the SC400/Soarer http://users.bigpond.net.au/startrade/FAQ/FAQ.html Oh Matt i did recieve the cards you were going to send. but then i havent been home for a week to check again.
  11. For sure. If ya want me to hand the cards out i will. PM me if you would like me too and Ill give you my Box Number.
  12. For those who have the EMV screen (translations) http://nz.msnusers.com/SoarerStuff/Documen...translation.pdf
  13. Shucks. I am just a diehard Soarer fan with not much money to do what i want to so i just find all i can about the car. Thats why Im asking you all to ask your questions here so i can do the finding for you. If your wanting pics of all the body kits listed above and more i found a link. Sorry but getting the wiring diagram links will be dificult as there is many amps located around the car which are all interlinked oh I never asked if you have the EMV screen or just radio/cd/cassette system. I might do some searching to see if ya can get TV/DVD installed for the EMV and if its pos to have it while ya drive too. Quickly off the subject. Whats with this crap PM from cha100. Sorry dont care for your problems if they were true but then its just spam like all other rubbish like that ask for bank accounts. Ya an idiot if you think id fall for it. . Admin please delete him as it just look like its there to spam.
  14. Ok about the sterio. That can be complicated depending on what you want done. I reccomend getting them to run new wires to all speakers and the power cables and so on for the sub (if you plan to get one) at the same time. Its an easy job just make sure they dont rip your parcel shelf when trying to remove it as it is only compressd cardboard and breaks easily. The doors are easy as pie, i think the hardest job of the lot was getting the power cable through the firewall. Bobykits If you want a cheap firbreglass replica look in Australia you name it they have it. If you are after a real macoy job then be prepared to pay. I got a qutoe from a place in Hamilton and it was going to cost me $3000 just for the front bumper not painted or fitted. But then it was from Japan and a proper plastic job. oh here are some kit co's/names that i know make them for soarers. Bomex, Veilside, Vertex, Runner(widebody), C-One, Godfather, BN Sports, AB Flug, Do-Luck, Erebuni, Evolution, Hiro, Inspection, Include, JIC, Shot, Varis, Wald. There are alot more thats most of what i know about.
  15. Hello PFO welcome and thanks for being the first to ask. This is what i have got on your problem and a few links with illistrations on how to fix your blinky dash. This is a common problem on Soarers that are long in the tooth. To fix the blinky dash. http://www.lexus.australia.as/technical_pa...eter_repair.htm This one shows you how to remove the dash itself to clean it and also how to remove the reverse beeper and door chime. http://www.planetsoarer.com/dashrepair/dashrepair.htm When you have your dash out you can also change the visual colours as well check this link if you want to kill 3 birds wih one stone. http://www.reepa.com/bluedash.htm As for the place to fix it i am not sure. I would remove the dash by following the steps given and take the dash to a reputable auto electrician and tell them what you want done. This will save you alot on labour charges for him to remove your dash. If your not comfident then print it all out and take it with you so you save on him scratching his head being confused. Oh i dont suggest driving the car with the dash out. Good luck and hope it all goes well.
  16. If you have any Q's reguarding non modifcation side the JZZ30, UZZ31, UZZ32, SC300, SC400's write it up here.
  17. If you are interested in doing it do some reading here. I think there are some links to other sites about TTV8 as well. TTV8 in a TA22 Celica http://www.planetsoarer.com/twinturbo/jamiett.html TTV8 in a Cobra http://www.planetsoarer.com/twinturbo/twinturbo.html TTV8 in a LS400 http://www.lextreme.com That what i have come across so far. Oh and there is a guy in Australia that has developed a Supercharger esp for the Soarer's V8 engine and engine bay. Its at a good price too.
  18. Hey all Since the error removed this post i will start it again. This is where you can find out anything about the Soarer. No questions are to stupid or if you think you can catch me out here is the place to ask. And if i dont know i will find the answer for you so i do know as well. Sorry i only know about the JZZ30, UZZ30, 31 and 32's, SC300 and SC400's. Sorry nothing about the flash new SC530 Soarer.
  19. Will the old Posts return when the problem is fixed? If not ill re post my Questions Here post?
  20. hHre is a few link. You might have to get one from Japan by the looks of it. Or if you want me to ill pop into Advanced Imports to see if the sell anything of the like and its cost? http://www.r-spec.com/electronics/asi/asi.html Only models No ASG61X or ASG62X will work. This is the only Height controller that will fit a Soarer that i know of. And also in only works on the UZZ31 so yours has to be a V8. If i come across any others ill let you know.
  21. Hey Tim. I am in the process of finding out what a height controller does and how it does it. and even where you might find one.
  22. Its a pleasure to help Tim. I would suggest keeping your current height and adding an aftermarket height controller in. With that you are able to set your height inside the car. So keep your new height as the zero point and then you can go lower or higher as needed from there. Cant wait to see the before and after pics. You should also be able to get a decent size blower under the bonnet before mods need to be made. I may be wrong as I have the JZZ30 so dont hold me on that one.
  23. If only i knew how to post pics. I have 100's of the Soarer with great kits and the kits where you wonder what they were thinking.
  24. Ah that is my reply you quoted Matt and i am not Tim. If you were asking me I live on the shore and dont get out much so was not likely to be me. David.
  25. I finally got a pic of my car on my pc so here it is. Yes the wheels have been pasted over the current ones cause i am waiting for them to arrive, if all goes well it should be another 6-8 weeks. I just wanted to see what it would look like.
