  1. The wheels and Tyres are low profile 18's but nothing crazy. It's only done less than 15000 Kms so it wouldn't be that. Might get under the car to have a look. The right side seems to crash more than the left.
  2. Hi all, I've been driving my parents 2012 is350 x edition for a few weeks and the suspension seems mega stiff! Its like aftermarket coil over stiff! Is this normal for the x suspension? It crashes over small potholes and speedhumps. Michael
  3. This is a hot tip for all of those who have burnt cd's in their stacker. I was prepping my car to be sold and the LAST thing to do was to take out all my cd's/dvd's. It was working and playing dvds fine when I demo'd it to the purchaser yesterday but when I went to take out the LAST DVD (the others ejected fine) it jammed! One of the last DVD's (burnt) that came out had most of the white material on the top of the DVD flake off causing the unit to jam. They had been in there for about 5.5 years. It just kept trying to eject the dvd continuously so I had to fix it. It took me 2.5 hours to remove the system, open and clean it up and put it all back together! At least I don't have to buy a new changer. In any case, eject those DVD's and check them and make sure you buy good cd/dvd media!
  4. Hi all - I have for sale a complete Dash / Instrument cluster from an is250. It reads 36,936kms. I bought this (used) complete unit to get a hold of the clear screen on the front to replace mine which had some marring/scratches. It will come with my marred clear screen from my car (which should be able to be repaired with a bit of elbow grease and know how - I was too lazy to do it so I just bought this cluster). I have not tested it and am told that it works, but on the self diagnosis (when you start the car) the needle arm flickers and there is some small motor noise. Other then this it is apparently in full working order. Buy it for the clear screen, buy it to toy around with the cluster functionality, buy it for spare parts... whatever you need it for - it's cheap! Will post some pics later. Price: $50 Based in Melbourne SE Suburbs or CBD.
  5. Just picked up DBa front rotors for $58 each from repco! They have changed supplier and are getting rid of stock. There might have been 2 more at repco nunawading (Vic). Was tempted to get them but it will be another 4-5 years before they need changing again. Bendix pads were $135. Will fit them tonight when kids are asleep.
  6. I got the low oil light today! Changed the oil/filter and it was nasty. I have just about hit 100k last service was at 90k and the oil looks bad. Car has always idled/driven fine.
  7. C63's thrashed? Good. That's what they are built for and I'll be Doing the same! As for common, that means more people to talk to about mods etc! What did you buy the mrs?
  8. Everything is built to a price. Lexus are optioned up from even the base models. If they were to throw in a more powerful engine the cost would come up too. That plus the cost / design work to set up production etc
  9. Not everyone needs or wants power. I was fine driving it for over 4 years until I got into a is350. I still enjoy driving my 250, I just cruise when I'm in it.
  10. Of the three I would go white too. How much did you end up paying if you don't mind.
  11. Wheels/suspension/ gadgets make up the difference. I remember seeing in motor mag the f sport was slightly quicker. I think it might have to do with suspension/takeoff. I thought they all used the same motor/output.
  12. The only features in that list I would want are the rims, leather and memory seats. Is the perforated leather an upgrade these days?the flat leather is very plain looking/feeling. I'd happily take the engine over those three though. Take one for a test drive. Youlle be hooked!
  13. Every marque has its problems. Some More than others, I had the ML amp on my is replaced out of warranty (for free). The new replacement was faulty and I had to wait to get another one. My water pump also had to be replaced. It hasn't put me off Lexus. They are great cars. The merc service so far has been good. Not quite up to Lexus standards but good.
  14. I'm happy to give them a go as a brand. Hopefully I'll have only good things to report!
  15. The isf just doesn't do it for me. C63 comes with 2 years merc warranty As well. From my research they are pretty solid. Anyway, I borrowed an rx for a day and don't think it is worth the premium. I was about to sign up for a kluger grande at $58k brand new 4wd version then realized I didn't need a they are just as well equipped as the rx at a fraction of the cost. A mate has the xc60 and they are nice cars! Those finance deals are tempting but they usually don't budge much on rrp.
  16. I ended up increasing the budget to get the 63. I got an 09 model. I think it is roomier. Boot opening is wider too. In any case, this size car is fine for our family. I was thinking of a ml63 but they aren't that much bigger inside. At least not in legroom. I was also looking at larger sedans and other SUVs too. This is my car anyway :) the mrs can stick to the is250. Once the kids are forward facing there is plenty of room.
  17. My wife ran mine flat. I just ended up buying a century battery. No need to go oem. They likely use aftermarket batteries anyway. The oem is a Panasonic battery and I doubt they stock them.
  18. The 350 is a no brainer! What do you get in the SL? Radar cruise Memory seats Cooled seats Anything else??? The 350x is great buying. My parents recently bought one. I borrowed a 350p from Lexus for a week whilst mine was being serviced and it was fantastic to drive with all the features I had come to be used to.
  19. Hi guys. It's been some time since I've been on here too! My is250 is 4.5 years old and I was in a similar situation although I have two kids! 3 and 1 yo. My parents love driving my 250 when they look after my kids so they ended up buying an is too. When I took them to the dealership my dad said he wanted the 350 and upgraded! A few weeks after he took delivery, I took the car for a spin and boy was I impressed! It was magical and got me started thinking about a new car! So I started looking at a a 370 skyline sedan, new 350, used s4's an s6 (v10 loving!) 335 sedans and convertibles, 550, cls500 My budget was around the 60k mark. The idea was to get something that I could cart the kids around in occasionally. Fast forward a few months to last week and I signed on the dotted line for a used c63 on friday! The other cars were nice and definitely worth considering but I decided to splurge a little. I also considered m5's,m3's and a s5 in this range. I didn't consider an isf as it was the same shape. During and after the test drive and even right now, I can't wipe the smile off my face! I just have to wait to Thursday or Friday to pick it up now! I will keep the 250 for my wife to drive and honestly it will be fine for the kids until they are 10+ I reckon. Rear facing seat is a squeeze but it doesn't last long. We used to have the seat behind me and I managed to fit (I'm quite big). The 350 is seriously good value for money (my olds bought the x edition) but I already had an is so I wanted something different. If I didn't splurge, I think I would have got the 335 convertible. I is a beautiful machine and has the performance to boot. Some food for thought for you! I think another member on here bought a s4 or I might be mixing it up with another forum who might be able to chime in. Mike
  20. Congrats on the new addition to your family, onnzo! Thanks! It's tough work and you forget how small they are when they come out. Yep I ended up getting the v12's.
  21. I thought I'd update this thread as it's where I got the idea to buy the tyres from. I ended up getting the hankooks over the continental dw as the front continentals don't have rim protection. Having said that, the hankooks rim protection isn't as prominent as the oem sport maxxs. Delivered was $850 odd ( would have been $70 cheaper if they accepted credit cards) but agh well. Shipping was quick and the whole process was excellent. Fitting was Another $80 but for under $1k I have low profile performance tyres! The hankooks seem quieter then the sport maxxs and the sumitomo z3s and grip has been fine in wet and dry conditions. I am a granny driver though with my 2 to and 1 week old newborn in the back so this is quite subjective! My father in law just paid 185 each (locally) for some Michelin 16" 60/185 or some size like that... I know where my next set of Tyres are coming from!
