  1. me too, tried to find the batterey in dick smith, and kmart, and some small electrical shop, but they dont have it, so i went to ebay, get it from USA for as little as $4 for 2, posted. but it tooks like 2 weeks to arrive, postage from usa is very slow
  2. guys, another +1 for chatswood. i work in rockdale so i reckon i wanna give sutherland a go, upon calling them to make a booking, they told me that they cant pick up a car( well according to lexus website if the car still under warranty you get free pick up and delivery), so that's 1, nope i cancel stright away, as i have to drive quite a lot of distance to sutherland, not to mention the way back to office in peak hour traffic. so ended up taking back to chatswood, stright away. " where to pick up the car sir?" they even claiming the warrnty for some little leather cracking on the steering wheel "i dont even notice or really care about it" but they change it to brand new one. couldnt complaint ;) plus i get to drive a new RX350 as a loan car, even better :P
  3. that's is what's call superior customer service. so at the end of the day, did you ended up paying anything for the detail?(the first time they detail)
  4. i think most of have nailed it. no matter how much they charge, when someone mention detailing, you need to ask in detail what job they going to perform on the car, i've seen a lot of business called themself detailers, but as the other guy said, they just wash the exterior, wipe the dust in the interior with dirty clothes, put some chemical, multi purpose clean or whatever, then vacum, and last put the tyre shine, and charging you $100, all of this can be done at crystal car wash for $35 or so.(not sure how much they charge as i only used them once in my life and decide not to use them again) i think the proper detail will cost you at least $200 depending on your car condition.it will takes a good few hours to do 1 car. i think $375 charge from lexus is fair enough(assuming your car is badly swirl, etc), but just ask in detail what they going to do when they mention detail, and point out the area of the imperfection on/in your car and make sure if they say they can fix it, they do fix it. not just cover it with waxes.
  5. dammm, $800 for the labour, how much $$$labour their charge per hour? i think this is a bit too far, but this is just a bit of info normally in every brand of the car, there are standard labour hour set from the manufacturer.a little variance is ok, but normally they have to comply with that standard guidlines from the manufacturer. if they can do stuff quicker then good on them as they make more money as they can charge the standard price, while doing it quicker, hence they can book more car to their service. but if they stuff up and the mechanic tooks say 1 or 2 hours longer to do it, you cant charge the customer for that extra hours from your stuff up. all of those item are looks like schedule service items, and any good mechanic should be able to do all of those job within 3-4 hours max since you service the car at dealership we assume they all familiar with the car, and all of those is just bread and butter for them as there's nothing major/wrong to be done/fix. if its takes 4 hours=$200/hours.jezzzzzzz they really know how to make money, i dont know how much they charge as my car covered under corporate program, so i havent seen their bill yet.
  6. Shi*T, that's is outregous. basically, they have to ring you first before they replace any costly parts to get your authorisation i recomennd not to do replacement of wear and tear part trough dealership. do a bit of extra work and you save $$$$$$$$$. i get quoted roughly $170-$200 to replace the 2 wiper ruber, i just bought the ruber myself-costed around $30 each from their spare parts. and this might put you off the chair, when my car battery flat(originally not sure weather its flat or something wrong with the car) and they quote me for $1400 for Original manufacturer batterey. WTF. ended up ask one of the service guy in my work place and cost me $120 in total. now my car is due for the 3rd service and i reckon it will need brake pad replacing, has anyone replace their brake pad yet?Which pad you are using?obviously i am looking for the one not as Dusty as the original pad i am not going trough lexus service for sure, as they going to try to put the original pad and charge astronomical $$$$$.
  7. I've done my research trough a few forums in regards to DIY installation of HID kit. after playing around for sometimes, i decide i am just not the person to do it, as i am not confident with what i am doing. try to ask one of the auto electrician near my workplace and they want $500 for the installation (just the fittment cost as i supply the kit) which i think a bit too much for it. so is there anyone in here that did the conversion trough a mechanic? maybe can recommend me a people that can do it. i am located in sydney anyway. thanks
  8. mate, ring the dealership, tell them the problem and they will book you for service to sort out the problem. its cover under warranty, so you dont need to fork any $$$, they pick your car up from your home and give you a loan car and when it finish they deliver your car back to you. hassle free service-that one of the things i like from lexus. when i purchased a used is250, the car is rattle like a mad as well, it tooks two go for them to fix it as the rattle came out again 2 months they originally fix it.so i rang them up again and they are happy to fix it again for me
  9. mate, just keep hassling them until your problem sorted out. for your loan car, i think you just a bit unlucky to get the dirty one, as they told me the loan car you get will be random depending what the driver pick up the day before.and they normally pick the whichever driver live close to you. i've bought a used is250 prestige 1 or 2 months ago and since that have took my car back to chatswood 3 times. first time for schedule service and twice to fix the rattle, first time i got the 08 is250 sports lux, 2nd time i got 08 rx350, and third time i got dirty 08 is250 prestige. they fix the rattle on first attempt but it came back after two weeks and even worse, so i call them again now they fix it, but there are still some vibration noise that sometimes happened sometimes not which they said came from the rubber on the door and they advise me to always dry the door's ruber everytime i wash my car. i just say yes when they explain to me about that, stupidly i forgot to ask how about if its raining?or is there any solution to prevent the water to go that deep. as i dont want to wipe the door's ruber everytime its raining.
  10. lucky that the wheel caps are fit the colour is slightly different, but its not a big deal at all.not really visible unless you look very very closely to it
  11. after a week of hunting i finally got the 17"sports lux wheels i wanted. gonna have it fitted to my car on coming weekend. my question is are the center caps on 16" prestige wheel will fit the 17"sports lux wheels as the wheels i bought is not including the center cap? rang a few dealers but they seems to be unsure and put me forward to parts dept and even from parts dept, all the answers i got is including the words "i think it should" not a definate 100% sure "YES it FIT" maybe anyone can help me here. so if its not fit i can go and buy one set before i go to the tyre shop to fit it the wheels and tyres. thanks
  12. just recently purchased 06 is250 prestige, and decide to do some minor change to the wheels if anyone have a 17" original sports lux wheel either new or used, i might be interested to buy. pm me if any of you guys want to sell yours
  13. dont say to me that you would like to sit there all the time looking at the mechanic servicing your car to make sure they do what they supposed to do.
  14. well i assume if you concern about, the quality of service then you should always service your car to dealer, as they have the appropriate equipment, and of course lexus must set a high standard for all of their dealers. it is cost a bit more, but you know that you are dealing with the people that know most about their product. unless if you know someone, a good mechanic you really know and you can trust, but again, dealer service dept only look after one brand which is their own brand, they deal more with it and hence they will have more knowledge about what they are facing.
  15. i agree with you $650 is a lot of money, but considering what you get, its certainly one of the best in the market. compared to BMW or Merc, i reckon they cost more than that, not sure, as i never had one. yeah you right, for honda, from my memory they cost around $4-500 as i am an ex one of the big honda dealer staff. but you dont get any loaner, you can but you get charged more for it and certainly there is no pick up and droping for your car
