  1. me too, tried to find the batterey in dick smith, and kmart, and some small electrical shop, but they dont have it, so i went to ebay, get it from USA for as little as $4 for 2, posted. but it tooks like 2 weeks to arrive, postage from usa is very slow
  2. guys, another +1 for chatswood. i work in rockdale so i reckon i wanna give sutherland a go, upon calling them to make a booking, they told me that they cant pick up a car( well according to lexus website if the car still under warranty you get free pick up and delivery), so that's 1, nope i cancel stright away, as i have to drive quite a lot of distance to sutherland, not to mention the way back to office in peak hour traffic. so ended up taking back to chatswood, stright away. " where to pick up the car sir?" they even claiming the warrnty for some little leather cracking on the steering wheel "i dont even notice or really care about it" but they change it to brand new one. couldnt complaint ;) plus i get to drive a new RX350 as a loan car, even better :P
  3. that's is what's call superior customer service. so at the end of the day, did you ended up paying anything for the detail?(the first time they detail)
  4. i think most of have nailed it. no matter how much they charge, when someone mention detailing, you need to ask in detail what job they going to perform on the car, i've seen a lot of business called themself detailers, but as the other guy said, they just wash the exterior, wipe the dust in the interior with dirty clothes, put some chemical, multi purpose clean or whatever, then vacum, and last put the tyre shine, and charging you $100, all of this can be done at crystal car wash for $35 or so.(not sure how much they charge as i only used them once in my life and decide not to use them again) i think the proper detail will cost you at least $200 depending on your car condition.it will takes a good few hours to do 1 car. i think $375 charge from lexus is fair enough(assuming your car is badly swirl, etc), but just ask in detail what they going to do when they mention detail, and point out the area of the imperfection on/in your car and make sure if they say they can fix it, they do fix it. not just cover it with waxes.
  5. dammm, $800 for the labour, how much $$$labour their charge per hour? i think this is a bit too far, but this is just a bit of info normally in every brand of the car, there are standard labour hour set from the manufacturer.a little variance is ok, but normally they have to comply with that standard guidlines from the manufacturer. if they can do stuff quicker then good on them as they make more money as they can charge the standard price, while doing it quicker, hence they can book more car to their service. but if they stuff up and the mechanic tooks say 1 or 2 hours longer to do it, you cant charge the customer for that extra hours from your stuff up. all of those item are looks like schedule service items, and any good mechanic should be able to do all of those job within 3-4 hours max since you service the car at dealership we assume they all familiar with the car, and all of those is just bread and butter for them as there's nothing major/wrong to be done/fix. if its takes 4 hours=$200/hours.jezzzzzzz they really know how to make money, i dont know how much they charge as my car covered under corporate program, so i havent seen their bill yet.
  6. Shi*T, that's is outregous. basically, they have to ring you first before they replace any costly parts to get your authorisation i recomennd not to do replacement of wear and tear part trough dealership. do a bit of extra work and you save $$$$$$$$$. i get quoted roughly $170-$200 to replace the 2 wiper ruber, i just bought the ruber myself-costed around $30 each from their spare parts. and this might put you off the chair, when my car battery flat(originally not sure weather its flat or something wrong with the car) and they quote me for $1400 for Original manufacturer batterey. WTF. ended up ask one of the service guy in my work place and cost me $120 in total. now my car is due for the 3rd service and i reckon it will need brake pad replacing, has anyone replace their brake pad yet?Which pad you are using?obviously i am looking for the one not as Dusty as the original pad i am not going trough lexus service for sure, as they going to try to put the original pad and charge astronomical $$$$$.
  7. I've done my research trough a few forums in regards to DIY installation of HID kit. after playing around for sometimes, i decide i am just not the person to do it, as i am not confident with what i am doing. try to ask one of the auto electrician near my workplace and they want $500 for the installation (just the fittment cost as i supply the kit) which i think a bit too much for it. so is there anyone in here that did the conversion trough a mechanic? maybe can recommend me a people that can do it. i am located in sydney anyway. thanks
  8. mate, ring the dealership, tell them the problem and they will book you for service to sort out the problem. its cover under warranty, so you dont need to fork any $$$, they pick your car up from your home and give you a loan car and when it finish they deliver your car back to you. hassle free service-that one of the things i like from lexus. when i purchased a used is250, the car is rattle like a mad as well, it tooks two go for them to fix it as the rattle came out again 2 months they originally fix it.so i rang them up again and they are happy to fix it again for me
  9. mate, just keep hassling them until your problem sorted out. for your loan car, i think you just a bit unlucky to get the dirty one, as they told me the loan car you get will be random depending what the driver pick up the day before.and they normally pick the whichever driver live close to you. i've bought a used is250 prestige 1 or 2 months ago and since that have took my car back to chatswood 3 times. first time for schedule service and twice to fix the rattle, first time i got the 08 is250 sports lux, 2nd time i got 08 rx350, and third time i got dirty 08 is250 prestige. they fix the rattle on first attempt but it came back after two weeks and even worse, so i call them again now they fix it, but there are still some vibration noise that sometimes happened sometimes not which they said came from the rubber on the door and they advise me to always dry the door's ruber everytime i wash my car. i just say yes when they explain to me about that, stupidly i forgot to ask how about if its raining?or is there any solution to prevent the water to go that deep. as i dont want to wipe the door's ruber everytime its raining.
  10. lucky that the wheel caps are fit the colour is slightly different, but its not a big deal at all.not really visible unless you look very very closely to it
  11. after a week of hunting i finally got the 17"sports lux wheels i wanted. gonna have it fitted to my car on coming weekend. my question is are the center caps on 16" prestige wheel will fit the 17"sports lux wheels as the wheels i bought is not including the center cap? rang a few dealers but they seems to be unsure and put me forward to parts dept and even from parts dept, all the answers i got is including the words "i think it should" not a definate 100% sure "YES it FIT" maybe anyone can help me here. so if its not fit i can go and buy one set before i go to the tyre shop to fit it the wheels and tyres. thanks
  12. just recently purchased 06 is250 prestige, and decide to do some minor change to the wheels if anyone have a 17" original sports lux wheel either new or used, i might be interested to buy. pm me if any of you guys want to sell yours
  13. dont say to me that you would like to sit there all the time looking at the mechanic servicing your car to make sure they do what they supposed to do.
  14. well i assume if you concern about, the quality of service then you should always service your car to dealer, as they have the appropriate equipment, and of course lexus must set a high standard for all of their dealers. it is cost a bit more, but you know that you are dealing with the people that know most about their product. unless if you know someone, a good mechanic you really know and you can trust, but again, dealer service dept only look after one brand which is their own brand, they deal more with it and hence they will have more knowledge about what they are facing.
  15. i agree with you $650 is a lot of money, but considering what you get, its certainly one of the best in the market. compared to BMW or Merc, i reckon they cost more than that, not sure, as i never had one. yeah you right, for honda, from my memory they cost around $4-500 as i am an ex one of the big honda dealer staff. but you dont get any loaner, you can but you get charged more for it and certainly there is no pick up and droping for your car
  16. i rang the dealer my car originally came from, and its $650 for 30k/24 months so i reckon there wont be much difference accross the dealerships. i've notice there still some knocking/ and a bit of vibrating sound from the front passanger side(i reckon-as i am not sure which part causing that sound-but surely from front) everytime i drove over the bumpy road/ joit part of the the road surface, and mine one is june 06 built, is this the famous rattle problem that most is250 owner had? i certainly will take my car to service department to try to sort this problem
  17. I agree i cojuldn't find what i was after onlexus website. what qualifies you to be a business customer to get 60k free servicing. i purchase mine under my company as well as business finance! am i entitled? "Why don't you read the FAQ about this. You should be able to find it under any Lexus website" i was confused about this as well as i couldnt find any of this in official lexus website, BUT if you go to the dealers website, (i tried the chatswood one) it mention about the corporate program, what benefits they give to corporate customer, etc. but it doesnt specify what is the requirement, etc not sure what and who can qualify, i supposed maybe if you use company name when you purchase the car and register it under company, you can be qualified for that
  18. "Under the corporate purchase program, its 3years or 60k free service" it means business customer only? how about private buyers? is that previlage the valid for all lexus dealer or every dealers have their own benefit?
  19. Phiewwwwwww, glad to hear that, at least i can save some $$$$ to use it for something else i am planning to put diamond glaze(paint protection) and change to bigger wheels
  20. look up the lexus of chatswood website, its limited once a month and appointment is essential for the car wash.
  21. for the free car wash, i normally always wash my car every 1 or 2 weeks depending how dirty it is, so if i just rock up to the service dept every week, and say that i want a car wash then they will do it stright away? hmmmmm, i am not aware of that, as the owner just remind me that the service is due very soon. i just tought the free service is only for the first service like most other car brand that give free complimentary first service
  22. i just purchased 06 is250 from private seller. the seller told me that the 20k service is due, any idea how much roughly gonna cost? i've v check and revs check this car and it came out with no interest registered and no write off status but i am not sure how accurate/trustworhy this online checking is, however for peace of mind iam still gonna ask the dealer to do the inspection to pick up any problem with car. this car is originally sold from lexus of chatswood, and the owner told me that i can get free car wash at anytime as part of the benefit, but not sure if this is transferable, is this too good to be true? thanks for the advice
  23. Thanks for the reply guys Sapphire cam, i thinks thats a really valuable info for me about the transmission difference between the 06 and 07 model maybe other 06 owners that's have try the 07 model can justify this issue as well if they read this forum. for the price you paid, please allow me to make an opinion on that i had simmilar offer to you i rang one of the dealership for 07 model demo with moonroof about 5000kms and the offer is $54k drive away, without bargain, i believe if i come to the dealership and negotiate i will be able to rip a few more thousand dollars of it for sure. as i am working in dealership myself and i know how much profit roughly they get if you pay their asking price, especially in luxury car segment they wont survive the business if they only make $2k on $50++ car so they have to set their price high+ room to allow for negotiation.
  24. Hello everyone, i am new to this website, i've been looking to buy an IS250 since this car first arrive in aust, after saving some money to buy this car then circumstances changes and i ended up buying a boat to pursue my hobby, now i am thinking to just buy the used IS250 prestige(prestige with enhancement pack preferbly) to suit my budget as the more i saw this car on the road the more i am thinking of getting one after spending a fair of bit of times reading this forum a few concern start to arise with all of the pro and cons from this website member and i had a few question to the current is250 owner. Rattle problem, squeking moonroof--->is that problem fixed now???? even tough i only want to buy used prestige not the sports and lux but its still i am going to pay the odd +(-)$50k not $5k or so, and i dont want to deal with that hassle when i pay that sort of $$$$.if i buy this car not from lexus dealers, will the lexus dealer handle my warranty claim? as i assume this will go to warranty claim for 2006 build----> is there any common mechanical/technical problem among this build plate?(as i am most likely will get the car from this build date) now the HEAVY question---> how much do you guys think i should spend on 2006 model prestige with enhancement pack?? for the last 1 month i've been constantly browsing car sale website, auction, etc researching about the pricing of this used car, and i see quite a bit of variance such as 1.the auction price is much lower than the price most dealer advertised($43k-$44k in auction in dealer $56-$60k)-as the auction price is the good indication of the price the dealer would prepare to pay for that sort of car. no matter auction, trade in, or private purchase of course with some MINOR difference depending on the condition of the car but it shouldnt be $3000 or $4000 difference(should i bargain really hard when negotiation this car???) 2.somtimes(NOT VERY OFTEN) sports lux model can be sold as cheap as the price of prestige with enhancement pack when it sold privetly(should i just wait for this odd chance and add a few more grand and get the sports and lux??) 3.i am not a stranger to car industry as i am working in car industry for a while until now(not lexus dealership unfortunetly) so that's why i can say point no 1 4. how expensive is the service of this car? thanks for the help cheers
