  1. After my mods i have a TRD drop in filter ( it is less than 3 months old ) and an OEM Lexus front grille. I have replaced mine with a TRD grille. If anyone is interested in buying these, let me know. Matt
  2. I highly recommend the Trust induction kit. It has made a very noticable difference at all RPM's. I'll post some pics this weekend.. Thanks Matt, it installed like a dream... Matt
  3. Guys, I have done quite a few mods on my IS 200 now including: 2.5"exhaust cat back including hi flow cat N1 tip Apexi SAFC II and dyno'd Trust air induction kit The performance has improved drastically but now i have the taste for it i want more! So, currently i have an auto transmission, and i am thinking that if it was 6 speed with quick shift it would be so much nicer and faster. How difficult and expensive would this be to do? Am i just kidding myself here? I am also contemplating turbo but that is going to be like AU 8K to do properly. To me it just seems wierd to have a turbo auto thats all. Thoughts? Matt
  4. Keith, I put a high flow cat on my IS 200, can feel a big difference mid - top end. My launch from stop is still a bit weak though, not sure how to address that one. I am still in 2 minds whether to do the manifold to the cat 2.5" to finish the whole system. Would be very pricey i would think and am not too sure how much benefit i would get on 1G-FE. I dont think the V8 would have a higher flow because it is a V8. Why would it need to? It is a v8 after all. Could be wrong though. Cheers, MattD
  5. Get your Apexi SAFC II off Matt [Frylai] He will save you a considerable amount as compaired to AUS retail. It is a piggyback ECU. To get the full benifit of SAFC though, do your intake and exhaust first. Then put it on the dyno with SAFC for tuning. check it out here http://www.apexi-usa.com/electronics_safc.asp MattD
  6. I would be very suprised if you actually got 14Kw out of just a chip. From my experience with IS 200 with the 1G-FE engine, i just did a 2.5" exhaust with hi flow cat and N1 tip [4.5"] TRD drop in air filter Apex-i SAFC II Put it on the dyno a couple of week ago - 90Kw at the wheels. Not sure what that is at the engine around 130Kw - 140Kw i am guessing. [please correct me anyone if i am wrong here] I would advise to get at least the cat and exhaust done before you look at a chip or SAFC II. I am planning to get a Trust POD style filter off Frylai when he gets back to HK and dyno again. I am hoping to squeeze a few more KW from doing that. Apart from that the only next step is turbo or supercharger, which is extremely expensive.
  7. We worked it out, it is all wired up/in now. Going on the dyno tomorrow. Thanks anyway, i will post some pics of the mods i have done over the weekend for everyone to have a look at. MattD
  8. Thanks Graham, I just need the pin out from the ECU so i can plug into the APEX-I SAFC II to put it on a dyno and adjust accordingly.... Cheers, MattD
  9. Does anyone have a detailed pin out diagram for the 1G-FE [iS 200 Australian] ?? I am trying to set up a SAFC II but without this information i cant do it! Cheers, MattD
  10. YES!! I have exactly the same issue Doug, driver and passenger seat. Mine seats are the non elctric style seat. It is going back to Lexus tomorrow and will stay there until they fix it or replace it with electric ones! They have already tried to fix this once. I agree, i think it is a design flaw in the seat iteslf. MattD
  11. Thanks guys for the advice, has anyone actually done a dyno comparison of a before and after on something like this? Is a TRD/HKS/TOM's muffler worth getting on a IS 200 [6 cyl ] auto? Or am i better off just getting a custom local brand? Does a Trust intake icorporate a cold air box? [one that looks ok too not a back yard looking job] Matt Could you PM me a price on the TRD/TOM's muffler, trust intake, Apex-i AFCii [how much diff does it make really?] and TRD grill? I am looking to do this over the next few months... Cheers all..
  12. So i replaced the standard air filter with a TRD filter [standard airbox] for starters. Not bad at all, a noticable difference in the breathing of the engine for sure. Worth doing for sure. I am planning to put a high flow cat and 3" pipe from the cat back in the next couple of weeks. I am hoping to get around 15KW and 20Nm out of the exhaust and filter. Do you guys think that is a realistic figure? I have been quoted around $700AUS for the cat, pipe and muffler - install as well. Is that a reasonable price? I am not very handy myself so installing myself is not really an option. Also is there a bigger "mouth" for the standard air box? I dont really want to modify to a cold air box at this stage. Maybe a unichip and dyno after the exhaust is done will do the trick..... anyway just thought you guys maybe able to provide some feedback on what i am planning to do... Matt
  13. Hi Guys, This is quite long - my apologies as it is my first post. I am completely new to modifying cars but have become extremely interested it over the last few months. I have found this forum very helpful but i do have some specific questions i was hoping you guys could help me out with. First off, my car is a V6 2.0 Lexus IS 200 [Australian version/auto] As you all know 114Kw and 195 Nm is not exactly thrilling. But i really like the ride of the chassis and comfort/look of the car. You can see it here http://www.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/locnz?page=44 I have started with lowering 35mm all round, dark tint and 17" 16 spoke limited edition Lexus wheels. I have just ordered a TRD air filter [to go into the standard box] What exactly will the TRD air filter achieve for me? I thought for less $200AU is was worth trying out. My aims for this car over time are below and i was wanting to know the best way to achieve them 1) I have no interest in big body kits or huge exhaust/muffler systems. I do like the TRD grille though which i will do next! I dont mind modifying the exhaust system as long as it is discreet and doesnt look like there is a bowl haging off the back of the car. What is the standard diameter of the exhaust on the IS 200 Aussie edition? 2) I want the car to stay as stock as possible in looks so i am not hunted by police and insurance. 3) I am aiming to get 125-130KW [not at the wheels] and 220-250Nm [not at the wheels] or basically increase the bottom end power as the stock sucks and that is putting it nicely. Can i get to this without a supercharger? 4) It seems to be really sluggish between 1st and second gear changes in the auto box - what is the best way to improve this? Is UNICHIP a good idea? 5) And finally an estimate in AUS dollars to achieve it... These questions have pobably been answered a million times in the forum before - if they have i apologize to put you all through it again Thank you all for you time. Matt
