  1. I such good fun last time that I took my car into the NIXCREW ANNUAL CHARITY DRAGS on the 3rd of April and had another smashing time. My best time is now 14.79 secs at 151.86. In a stock Soarer TT Weight reductions were only removing the spare tyre. And some slight adjustments to the transmission line presure. Perfomance car TV was there, so I'm hoping that I'm on the tele on the mag. But I doubt it as they follow the boring common cars. Sweet as! :D
  2. Can you feel where the warm air is coming from? Are there any whistling sounds? Are the bonnet seals good? Just dishing out some ideas...
  3. Will I did it... and it was good fun Now I went the 11th of March (the Friday just gone). I know it was a month after my last post but I had my reasons. Good ones.... My best time is 15.86 sec at 138kph. Now I don't know how good that is. Me Soarer is pretty much stock, except for a cold air box and 2 way LSD. And the only weight reduction was to remove the spare wheel. But I did notice that the car is heavy and the transmission can be an arse when its shifting through gears. But I'll do some experiments with my launch and gear shifting (if necessary). How I did it was to hold the brakes down, preventing the car from moving and revving the engine to 3000 or so rpm. And then when the lights are green, stabbing on the accelerator and releasing the brakes. This is a common technique with autos. Wee heee! Good fun! :P
  4. Didn't make it on the night for a number of good reasons. Most important one was that I was sick in bed with a stomach bug. Honest! Anyway. I'll try again for the 4th of March and post my results when the time comes. I've been practising my launch. Getting good results from revving it to 3000-4000rpm while holding down the brakes. (I have auto trans) Then releasing the brake stabbing the accelerator at the same time.
  5. Hi Folks Answered my own question to this one I guess. I did take off the original radiator fan about the same time I made that post. The balancing issues I had was the fact that the pully wasn't bolted tight enough to the water pump pully, so a new set of bolts and washers sorted that out. To my relief! The engine was much quieter than usual, didn't sound like a ruddy diesel engine. Another result of it was the amount of room between the engine and radiator, the space is huge. I have been thinking what to do with it. hmm. Also I have been driving around for about 6 or so months without a radiator fan (to the horror of many!) and I didn't experience any over heating problems. Mind you that was during the colder months. And also there is a 12" fan to the front and a tiny one attached which kept things going. But to be on the safe-side, ended up putting 2 el-cheapo electric radiator fans from super cheap auto and attaching the electrical connectors to the existing ones, mounted the fans to the front of the AC condenser replacing the old electric fan. Looks good, fans are not to efficient, a little noisy, but I'm happy. I thought I might let you fella's know. :gav:
  6. Very quiet forum. Don't worry folks, I now know how to adjust my brake cable. And what the ECT is... and etc, etc! Well... I have had me Soarer TT for the past 6 months and I think its time I take it out to the drags. Lets see what my stock car can do against the commoners! My guess is that it will be the only soarer there... perhaps ever. YAY! Friday the 18th of Feb. That night's my night! :gav:
  7. Right folks how do I adjust the hand brake tension on me soarer. All these questions... getting about that time for me to find a workshop manual.
  8. Hi again. Has anyone replace the radiator fan with an electric fan? Are there any issues? I have taken the fan (including hub) off the water pump pully, but it made a rough noise when the engine is running. And no noise is heard when the fan hub (center metal hub without fan) is put back onto the water pump pully. Is ther balancing issues? Any thoughts?
  9. Hey Is there any way of testing the functions of the ECT (what does ECT mean?). I really dont notice any difference when it is switched on.
  10. Hi there Me a new owner of a '91 Silver TT Model. 18" Chrome Mags, Pod filter and 2 way LSD. Big plans for the car in the future :D
  11. Hi JZ330 '91 Soarer question. My seatbelt warning light remains on whether or not any of the belts are buckled or not. What can cause this. Also where's a good place to get a workshop manual for these cars? Cheers :D
  12. Hi folks I'm a new owner of a soarer (2.5L Twin Turbo), hence the dumb question. I would like to know what the ECT switch is about. And what it does. And please dont spare the details. Give me the blood and guts of it. Cher Cher :D :o
