  1. Firstly, $600 is about right, but I called around and paid closer to $500 at Chatswood. But if you live near other dealers, ring around they might give you a better price. But.... $1200 for a 90k service. Dude, you got ripped! I could have bought you a flask for $20 and chocolates from Coles and keyrings are things bought with spare change. What else did they do??? Any advise I can give is always ring around to see who's doing what. I felt like I got ripped too - they quoted $900. They did change the plugs which I am aware is expensive. They also found a small pin on the rear brakes that was damaged so they replaced it. I don't have much choice but to get it serviced by the dealer as I have an extended three year warranty that the previous owner purchased. The saving grace is that it only needs to be serviced every 15K. Won't be getting tyres, brakes or wipers done by the dealer.
  2. Thanks for replying. Doesn't come on with any door. It does come on for a second when I push the "Door" button with the door open and then goes off. Strange - might need to ask the dealer. Sounds more like an Electrical problem or connectivity. If you have a multimeter handy you can check for resistance and chase back the connections using the chassis as ground. Check if the switch itself if its faulty. Thanks all - it has an extended three warranty so I might take it in to the dealer
  3. Mate - my service at 90K cost me nearly $1,200. They did throw in a lexus thermos flask, lindt chocolates and a couple of dealer keyrings though.

  5. Hey all, For some strange reason my interior light no longer works when I have the "Door" button set. I have checked the bulb works as I can use the "On/Off" button to turn it on but it doesn't come on when I open either door at night (so it's not the door switches either). I'm wondering if my kids have changed something or I have to have something else turned on for them to work. Any help appreciated as it's hard to see inside the car at night now.
  6. Welcome mate. I have had my 2005 Lexus IS 250 Sports (not luxury) since Feb 2010 and it's the best car ever. Especially with the ML system - you will go deaf but it's worth it Enjoy
  7. You guys are legends. Just went out in the dark with a torch and found the boot deadlock button in the glovebox. Must have bumped it when I installed my iPod. I thought $920 was steep too so will ring other dealers to check and head office if there is too much difference. The car does have an extended warranty till 2013 but that doesn't cover servicing. I am getting a courtesy car even though I'm not an encore member which is a bonus. I know the iridium plugs are exey but I think to keep the extended warranty up I have to service via Lexus. Will get tryes and brakes aftermarket to save dollars though. Thanks again all - this forum is great
  8. Just rang Lexus of Canberra to get a 90K service and was quoted $920 as the plugs need changing. Is that what others have paid? Also have to get them to check out the boot as the remote and pushing the interior button won't open it. It is a pain to pull out the key from the fob everytime. Extended warranty should cover this. Only had the car since Feb and it is the best car I've ever driven/owned. That ML stereo via my iPod is giving me industrial deafness but I love. How did I survive Canberra winters before I had heated seats? :-)
  9. Mate - I have 18" Rims1 which came with the IS250 Sports model (not the Sports Luxury). You can buy them from the states - I'd hate to think how much they would cost to ship http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts_detail.asp?id=187546
  10. Does it point out speed cameras? My 2006 sports with EMV doesn't do it but a $300 Tom Tom does?
  11. I know I do want one! :) I didn't know what it was called before only just that it exists. I might try that Nam guy. I hired a Hyundai once and the USB integration was a standard feature on base model! It really is easy - it only has two leads one from back of OEM head unit to interface box and one from the box to iPod cable. The emulation I had problems with wasn't too hard to fix with help. No need to fiddle with the iPod while in the glove box all controlled from touch screen or steering wheel.
  12. I think it might be the same product as mine had a black ipod connector similar to thiers. Would be interesting to see what Lexus charge for it. I'm loving mine as no more messy mixed MP3 CDs just playlists, album and artist. My orginal plan was to mount it so the iPhone plugs into it but a separate iPod is better.
  13. I bought a 2005 Lexus IS250 Sport with EMV about three weeks ago. I love the Mark Levinson stereo but wanted full iPod/iPhone integration. Yes I know that it has an AUX port but you can't change songs on the fly which is what I wanted. I found this product - Vaistech SoundLinQ2 SL2i-UP - http://www.vaistech.com/products/sl2i.php I bought it through the Australian distributor which cost a bit more but it was worth it- http://www.advancedice.com.au/products2/iPod-USB-Aux-Input_6/Lexus-iPod-Integration Took it to an audio installer cause I know nothing about cars and he set it up for me. He had a few problems so I contacted the local distributor and he helped me out. It seems that it is supposed to beep when you set up emulation but it didn't. Would have been nice for the manual to say that. Anyway the system works perfectly with the touch screen and plays albums, playlists and artists just like the iPod would. It shows the song name and artist all via the screen and you can change tracks via the steering wheel controls. The box hides away on the passenger side footwell and the iPod cable is in the glove box permanently connected to a iPod Nano. I highly recommend this to anyone you loves music on the move and has a huge iTunes library.
  14. They sound good but does the IS250 Sport already have sport suspension - it looks lower than the Prestige? Is so would these springs make any difference? Sorry I'm a noob to the car modding scene.
  15. Mate I bought mine last week from Brissy. 2005 Lexus IS250 Sports with EMV and 80K on the clock for only $35,000. You should easily get a Sport Luxury for 50K with low Ks
  16. Good work - I'll be checking out your vid for sure. Side question - what is a full F-Sport system worth? Does it give you any more KWs - if so roughly how much?
  17. Most people don't even bother to try and drag you off at the lights due to fuel costs. I've had a few challenges and beat them even with the AC on - so it's not too bad. As has been said - it really isn't a race car more of a luxury car with all the bells and whistles. Not many 300KW WRX or Evos can also get 7.6 l/100km on the highway while listening to a 14 speaker custom Mark Levinson stereo and playing with a touch screen OEM GPS.
  18. Mate - the ML in my IS250 is the best, clearest thing I have ever heard in a car. Only downside is that it doesn't integrate with my iPhone so am buying this: http://www.advancedice.com.au/products2/iPod-USB-Aux-Input_6/Lexus-iPod-Integration
  19. Hi all, New to the forums. Just upgraded from a Hyundai Elantra to a 2005 Lexus IS250 Sports in silver. I am loving the car and all the cool things like HID lights, Mark Levinson Stereo, GPS, Bluetooth etc. I work in IT but also run a photography business so would like to go to a few meets and take some piccys and meet other proud Lexus owners. Simon Canberra
