  1. Dude :( Although I agree with Keith, time to 'upgrade' to a tezza ;)
  2. Yep, must dyno with Trc off, otherwise it detects too great a difference in speed compared to the front wheels, and puts the brakes on.
  3. Trc Off is the difference between a 17sec quarter and a 15sec quarter for me...
  4. TRD Braided brake lines!
  5. Luckily it has 4cyl ;) Not so unbelievable when you consider the 20v 4age (1.6Litre) runs 295cc inj's
  6. This was at Meremere, on a very hot day... Thats with Traction control OFF also (17secs with it on) Interesting that you've got a much higher Mph - 99vs90. I need more power :(
  7. 15.3 @ 145kph (90mph) That was with Apexi filter (direct replacement not pod) and Blitz Muffler.
  8. When I say one 'module' its all housed in a big plastic unit, but each part is still independent and replaceable. Fuel filter sort of wraps around the pump. Pump is a normal small bosch type. (sorry TurboTezza, don't know the specs, will try and find out this week) so can be easily upgraded with a higher flowing 'motorsport' (hehe that cracks me up) pump.
  9. Small note, The fuel pressure regulator is in the tank on the tezza, not at the fuel rail, so pressure is regulated at the fuel pump. No fuel is returned from the fuel rail. The whole lot is one 'module', fuel pump, filter, and regulator. Would definitely be easier to upgrade the pump, than to try and run an extra one. However, there is a certain amount of 'wang' in having a surge tank and external pump.... :) Just remember you'd have to regulate that at the tank also, unless you feel like modifying the fuel rail.
  10. If you do get a 'test bench' setup, gimme a yell. I'm happy to whip my TRD Yellow bar out for a comparison, only a 5 minute job.
  11. Will require a picture of the Altezza. :)
  12. I'm easy (and relatively inexpensive) Name the time and place (cept sunday is out for me)
  13. Pros and Cons for all types of filters. Pods definitely get the most airflow through, as you loose the restriction of the airbox, but should duct cool air in to get the best out of it. (its of note, that by losing this restriction, you can sometimes lose low end torque) Its not the trust filter so much as foam filters in general, the foam 'decays' (for lack of a better word) and eventually starts to break up, this can cause problems further down the line, but this is just a part of owning and maintaining. Same with re-oilable filters such as the TRD(?) and K&N. if you don't clean them, they clog up, if you don't oil them, they clog up faster, if you over oil them you can damage your airflow meter. Its a balancing act. Its just common sense, nothing lasts for ever, but how long it lasts is up to you :)
  14. So a night cruise this weekend boys? I'm still gutted I missed the last one :(
  15. Grrr <_< for misinformation, just goes to show you can't believe everything you hear! Return Email:
  16. Interestingly enough, I had an experimental 'play' in the wet this morning. this time, window down, stereo off, and listening to the wheels, What I'd never noticed before was the 'scratch scratch scratch' under throttle of the tires 'biting', much like you would have with a locked or LSD diff. Emailing my mate at toyota as we speak... gonna jack the car up when I get home, sure I checked for a torsen diff when I spun the wheels....
  17. Maybe on the later models, but my 98 definitely doesn't. As I said I jacked it up locking for a LSD when I got it, you are right, a torsen diff will spin like a open wheeler.. however if you try to spin both wheels in the same direction you can't. As a torsen diff is based on a 'worm' gear. ie. The Worm gear can turn the worm wheel, but the worm wheel cannot turn the worm gear. Now that I'm thinking of it, I'm sure I've read somewhere that LSDs may have been introduced on 02-later models? I disagree, both are designed to reduce slip at the wheels, one is just mechanical, and the other 'electrical'.
  18. Yep, me too, and I jacked the car up and confirmed it was a single spinner when I first got it. (oh and its a RS200Z) Interesting bit of info, you have to change or modify the side(drive?) shafts when fitting the TRD LSD diff. (for both the SXE10 and GXE10)
  19. Yep, according to my source at Toyota, Altezzas either came with traction control OR LSD, not both. Too many issues trying to get the two systems to work together. Trying to find more info at the moment....
  20. Already spoken to Keith about this, but for those interested: Also, suspension setup dictates that increasing the rear sway bar stiffness will increase the chance of oversteer, but the Tezza I have found has quite a lot of natural understeer 'built-in' so adding the TRD bar gave additional turn-in, and to be honest, the only time the back ever steps out on me, is when I'm ... shall we say 'encouraging' it. ;)
  21. Sorry for the confusion, but its a Apexi replacement filter, not a pod. so still have the factory air box. And it was running BP 98 on the dyno. (although I have been running it on gull 97 as an experiment.)
  22. Mine was done in 3rd gear... Here's the Dyno Plot
  23. Yep, the car is the 6spd man I don't know if I'd count a drop in replacement filter as a performance upgrade worthy of a increase in power. It was done at KiwiRE in pakuranga, on a dynodynamics dyno. Some of the other cars being dyno'd at the time were all withing 5-10kw of their previous runs on other dynos. However, I do appear to have developed a 'hesitation' around 3800-4000rpm which I'm investigating at the moment which may be the reason. but hasn't seemed to effect the top-end using a squidsassometer.
  24. wrx's are well known for large drive train loss... I'm pretty certain standard wrxs (non sti) in australia were dyno'ing up at 60-70kw atw. The dyno day I was at, was mainly turbo cars so made for bad comparison, but a 2.5litre 6cyl 323i BMW was there, and it got 95kw atw. anybody know what they are rated at the fly factory?
