Rx330 Servicing Alternatives

thanks.. appreciate the feedback and the recommendation! Will be looking up Del's. -
Hi I'm in Perth. My RX330 is getting quite along to about 6 years now. Was wondering if still worth while getting Lexus to service it or can someone recommend a mechanic that can do the equivalent job at a lower price. What brought this on was a recent tyre change... 225/65 R17 Lexus quoted $850 for 2 tyres + balancing. A quick ring around got me $570 Bridgestone equivalents with free balancing. Any thoughts?

Nah, I don't agree at all. The BMW dash looked dated back in 2005 when the car came out! It's horrible. Dunno about Ovlov, I woudln't even bother looking at one. I think the IS dash looks great. I sat in my my friend's new 3 series BMW.. I thought the dash looked like it belonged in the 80's and all that orange glow was terrible. The IS dash in comparison looks great .. more futuristic especially when coupled with the EMV.

somthing s def not right with that or you just got a heavy foot RX350 10.5 Average in city driving. Well I definitely don't have a heavy foot since my IS250 at 7.0 L / 100km is the lowest on this thread .. I better mention my RX high fuel consumption during the next service! Thanks for letting me know..

Bit of an FYI post... Like I mentioned before, my driver side mirror got changed under warrantee. So driver side mirror is the 2011 version while my rear view and passenger side mirror is the 2007 version. The 2011 mirror responds differently in comparison to the 2007 ones. The new ones go dark to reduce glare while the old ones goes dark with a greenish tinge. Also I worked out, if you want to see the darkening effect during the daytime, make sure the AUTO button is on then put your finger over the light sensor at the back of the rear view mirror and the mirrors will go dark.

What I like about the IS250 (mine's a 2007 sports luxury) Whisper quiet while driving The Active Cruise Control The Mark Levinson sound system (I let the active cruise control "drive" for me and I enjoy the music) Safety (if something were to happen, it's got plenty of airbags, all the preventive stuff PCS BA etc etc) The touch screen (I dislike using joysticks) What I don't like? The lack of rear seat space. This was mentioned before by someone else prior. For comfort, 2 adults in the car and that's it! Can't program the SatNav while the car is in motion (the passenger I'm talking about, not the driver) Alternative for $35k? Toyota Camry Grande ???

Got 2 questions 1) is it necessary these days to warm up our Lexus car's engines these days? a) if so, how many minutes? b ) do we do it the same amount of time during summer vs. winter? Living in Perth it's probably 1 degree C on coldest mornings. 2) the POWER switch in our IS250's according to the manual is for better acceleration. Has anyone really noticed any difference because I sure can't!! Thanks all!

Hi everyone With regards to our IS250's.... living in Perth, we have either BP Ultimate 98 or Caltex Vortex 98. Was wondering if anyone actually used the 98 fuels on a regular basis and noticed any difference in: 1) L/100km on your trip computer 2) (this one's a bit harder) - difference in wear/tear on the engines as 98 RON is suppose to "clean and protect the heart of your car" 3) BP98 or Vortex98 better? I drive long distance and usually get 7.0L / 100km which is great... doubt I'll get significant improvement from 98RON. Anyone can comment on the supposed hype of cleaning and protecting your engine? Worth the extra $ you pay? Thanks all! Adrian
