  1. Please tell us that a passenger took the photo and not you as the driver travelling at 105km/h! impressive to get 7.7, how many k's has your 350 done in total?
  2. The version for your model/year Lexus is available in the link you posted....why not go for that?
  3. Thanks Subby, will take a look at interstate...did they transport it to you or did you drive it back yourself? I know I can buy from any licensed dealer, a Lexus dealership is my preference as I feel for them to sell the car, to maintain their reputation, they would be confident of the cars condition. Maybe misguided logic...but I have had a disappointing experience before.
  4. I am tied to a particular lease company. As I am looking at used, I am doing the 'finding' myself. I really want to purchase from a Lexus dealership, but, the advertised prices are so much more.... I am curious to know how people have found Lexus dealerships for haggling? Will probably wait until the 2nd last weekend of the financial year to take advantage of year end target pressure.
  5. Hi, I am interested in buying a 2IS 350 SL and notice that the prices at my most local Lexus dealership are much greater than others, to the region of $10-15k. Has anyone any good advice on haggling with a Lexus dealership and share the level of achieved discount on the advertised price. I am thinking of buying via a novated lease so want nothing older than a 2011 model. Many thanks.
  6. The persons lack of insurance is not your issue, as long as you provide her details to your insurance, let them manage the issue. They will claim the costs off her, removing the onus on you. Of course it is entirely up to you, if it was my car, I would go through the insurance, ensure all damage is identified and repaired properly and if there were any issues relating to the repair later on, you just speak with your insurance.
  7. Sorry to hear about your situation...very frustrating. I would just contact your insurance, assuming you have comprehensive insurance, let them deal with it, that is what you pay them for. The only person that benefits from dealing outside of insurance is the person at fault. If you go through insurance you know your repair will be good and you are covered for any workmanship issues.
  8. 1) Is it actually worth going to legit Lexus dealers to get it serviced? I know I won't get Encore on a used car, so what's the point, right? Depends on how much you think you would save. Lexus servicing isn't as bad as other cars. Ask yourself if you woul go for a car with a Lexus service history over one without and you may answer if it is worth it to you. 3) If I wanted GPS map updates, I just buy a new disc, correct? Yes, you can save money if happy with a version older by buying it off eBay. Plenty of 'how to' docs to install the disc on the net. 4) How much are spare keys? Around $700...make sure you get 2 when you purchase your car. 5) What's everyone's thoughts on tinting? It already has an electronic rear blind as far as I'm aware. Personal preference. 6) Average petrol consumption / kms per tank - around Sydney I suppose? I used to get about 10l/100 in Melbourne. 7) Any particular niggles or issues common to the car? Vvti controller start up rattle, some persistent rattles, SL has a firm ride alongside a quiet cabin makes rattles very noticeable. I have heard of high oil use on older engines. 8) Is the Radar Cruise control thing a gimmick or actually useful? Do you find yourself using it? I don't think it brings the car to a complete halt though? I found it very useful but did not have the nerve to test it to a complete stop! 9) Where do you keep the key, since there's no ignition? Just in a pocket...anywhere you like really. 10) What's the deal with this smart key emergency card thing? I didn't have one on my car. If the battery in you key is dead, a physical key is in the fob and to start you touch the start button with the fob. (http://liveimages.carsales.com.au/carsales/car/private/cp5033804367355574718.jpg) And finally, once I do end up setting my heart on a car, I definitely plan to do all those REVS / RTA / PPSR checks, and maybe even an NRMA inspection if I really think something's up. I'd also check the logbooks to hope that at Lexus dealer has been doing everything. Apart from all the basics - is there anything else I should be particularly mindful of? The SL has a great deal of tech...if something goes wrong, can be expensive. Replacement audio/gps units are expensive..make sure you test the screen and cd mechanism is all working.
  9. Ouch! Not sure if it could be a DIY fix, guess it depends on your skills. You might be able to get away with paintless dent removal.
  10. What badge are these? I assume by the price they are base prestige models. Personally, I would pass on any IS without the GPS/reverse camera, do either of these have the environment pack?. If not, I think this one would be worth the extra... http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Lexus-IS250-2011/AGC-AD-14099187/?Cr=0 Of these 2, I would go for the Lexus history car. Although higher k's, it is a thousand dollars cheaper and has a full Lexus history and longer warranty. I think more valuable than 20k Km's.
  11. You can purchase the upgrade from a dealer (expensive) or maybe check eBay for 2nd hand previous versions that are later than your current maps. I don't believe you can get speed or red light camera locations on the maps.
