  1. As far as I know, the only change was orange brake calipers? Can anyone confirm? The RCF is a beast, mate. Go for it. It's one of those few "Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde" cars that can be luxurious on the street, yet be competitive on a race track. The torque vectoring sytem is more than a gimmick, if you play with it enough and learn to work with it, it can really help eliminate any understeer by just adding more throttle. I was tempted by the RC350 initially, and during the test drive it was genuinely hard to pick between the two. In fact, the RC350 was more comfortable. But getting on a winding mountain road or a racetrack will change your mind completely, the RCF is a completely bonkers car if you drive it at full tilt, and it will leave the RC350 for dead. Best of all, the car looks like it's from the future. When you park up at the lights, you get the "WTF is that" stare, haha

  3. Hi mate Yes will take a few when the time comes....now just trying to break the car in. Loving it so far. The handling, comfort is one up from the ISF.
  4. Traded my ISF in for a starlight black with charcoal interior RCF (staying with the black theme, because Batman) Loving it so far, it's a lot more comfortable than the ISF, similar outright speed but it's definitely more a GT car than track weapon.

Hi Scott To answer your question, since you are out of warranty, I think it might be cheaper to just buy the exhaust system from overseas and get it installed at an exhaust shop. $5k is a lot, the JoeZ system is only around $2k I believe, if you ship it over. Factor in another $500 for installation and it's still only half the price that Lexus charges. However, some people only trust Lexus to touch their car. So it is up to you on that. If you don't have a mechanic that you trust, you might want to bring it back to Lexus. The ISF is a very rare beast, very few mechanics out there have even worked on one before. Then again, there is the port & polish (my car already came with that so I can't comment on the advantages of having that done). The JoeZ exhaust is quite loud, you might want to consider this aspect before deciding. It does change the character of the car from "grand touring sleeper" to "Japanese muscle". If you are very sensitive to drone, it might become an issue. In terms of performance gains, I did not notice much after doing the exhaust (I have the Borla, but I'm changing to the Meisterschaft system soon). It was the headers and changing of cats that gave the biggest performance gains. Before I did the headers, I could not keep up with a stock C63. After the headers were installed and the car got used to it, I was able to outpace a stock C63 without the performance pack, and stay on par with a C63 with the performance pack. The BMW M3 doesn't stand a chance in the straights anymore. The headers also changes the tone of the exhaust note. It makes it slightly "raspier" sounding, but it sounds awesome. You know the throttle blips that the ISF does? It becomes pure aural arousal once you have headers. When driving in the Valley, and you do the blip, people turn their heads because they think it's an exotic. Then they realise it's just a Lexus IS....haha!

  8. I track the car too, and I have found the OEM brakes to be excellent. However, you are right that the stealership will overcharge you on the pads/rotors. I think best would be to import them from Sewell or somewhere else and get the dealership to install them if you want to keep the OEM experience. A lot of people forget that prior to the LFA, the ISF was the car that was developed by Toyota that spent the most development time on the track. So it's natural that the OEM brakes are suited for the punishment that track work brings. However they are also expensive. I'm all for aftermarket alternatives but also wary of those that have not been through the same quality control processes that Toyota put the car through. Obviously if you don't track the car it's not a problem.

  10. I can't speak for the ISFs without the LSD, but those around in Brisbane know my car has been on track days and skid pans pretty often. The LSD brings the car's ability to power out of corners to a new level, if you turn off all the aids you can not only get the car sideways easily by using power oversteer (no need for Scandinavian flick, the car has enough power to go sideways anytime you feel like it). Jab the throttle, wait for the rear to swing round and then hold the drift by modulating the throttle and countersteering. I've been on a track with an M3 (mine's a MY2012 ISF) and he could not shake me off. I overtook him on the straights (I've got PPE headers and the Borla catback, so I'm not exactly stock) and when we got into the paddocks I could hear the disappointment in his voice at "losing" to an ISF... Still too many people underestimate this car, particularly the revised later year models.

  13. Just went for the 30,000km service and got the dreaded "you need new front rotors and brake pads" news - $2,200. The price of F!
  14. Whoa! That's really pricey! The PPE ones only cost about $3k all up, including modification and installation.
  15. ^^^ What Danny said. This is why I don't do full on race days any more, just happy laps. If I destroy my car, I'll be depressed. If I destroy my car AND a Ferrari next to me, I'll be depressed AND broke....
