  1. As far as I know, the only change was orange brake calipers? Can anyone confirm? The RCF is a beast, mate. Go for it. It's one of those few "Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde" cars that can be luxurious on the street, yet be competitive on a race track. The torque vectoring sytem is more than a gimmick, if you play with it enough and learn to work with it, it can really help eliminate any understeer by just adding more throttle. I was tempted by the RC350 initially, and during the test drive it was genuinely hard to pick between the two. In fact, the RC350 was more comfortable. But getting on a winding mountain road or a racetrack will change your mind completely, the RCF is a completely bonkers car if you drive it at full tilt, and it will leave the RC350 for dead. Best of all, the car looks like it's from the future. When you park up at the lights, you get the "WTF is that" stare, haha
  2. Hi Marvin Is this the windscreen wiper fluid or the blinker fluid?
  3. Hi mate Yes will take a few when the time comes....now just trying to break the car in. Loving it so far. The handling, comfort is one up from the ISF.
  4. Traded my ISF in for a starlight black with charcoal interior RCF (staying with the black theme, because Batman) Loving it so far, it's a lot more comfortable than the ISF, similar outright speed but it's definitely more a GT car than track weapon.
  5. Hi Scott To answer your question, since you are out of warranty, I think it might be cheaper to just buy the exhaust system from overseas and get it installed at an exhaust shop. $5k is a lot, the JoeZ system is only around $2k I believe, if you ship it over. Factor in another $500 for installation and it's still only half the price that Lexus charges. However, some people only trust Lexus to touch their car. So it is up to you on that. If you don't have a mechanic that you trust, you might want to bring it back to Lexus. The ISF is a very rare beast, very few mechanics out there have even worked on one before. Then again, there is the port & polish (my car already came with that so I can't comment on the advantages of having that done). The JoeZ exhaust is quite loud, you might want to consider this aspect before deciding. It does change the character of the car from "grand touring sleeper" to "Japanese muscle". If you are very sensitive to drone, it might become an issue. In terms of performance gains, I did not notice much after doing the exhaust (I have the Borla, but I'm changing to the Meisterschaft system soon). It was the headers and changing of cats that gave the biggest performance gains. Before I did the headers, I could not keep up with a stock C63. After the headers were installed and the car got used to it, I was able to outpace a stock C63 without the performance pack, and stay on par with a C63 with the performance pack. The BMW M3 doesn't stand a chance in the straights anymore. The headers also changes the tone of the exhaust note. It makes it slightly "raspier" sounding, but it sounds awesome. You know the throttle blips that the ISF does? It becomes pure aural arousal once you have headers. When driving in the Valley, and you do the blip, people turn their heads because they think it's an exotic. Then they realise it's just a Lexus IS....haha!
  6. yeah ISF owners are a very rare breed Sad, it's such a good car. So misunderstood. Maybe RCF will draw more new owners to the F brand!
  7. Hi Scott Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately we're not very active on this forum anymore. In fact I believe some of us have moved on from our ISF ownership days. I still have mine though and loving it. I'll do a detailed reply to you tomorrow. Cheers
  8. I track the car too, and I have found the OEM brakes to be excellent. However, you are right that the stealership will overcharge you on the pads/rotors. I think best would be to import them from Sewell or somewhere else and get the dealership to install them if you want to keep the OEM experience. A lot of people forget that prior to the LFA, the ISF was the car that was developed by Toyota that spent the most development time on the track. So it's natural that the OEM brakes are suited for the punishment that track work brings. However they are also expensive. I'm all for aftermarket alternatives but also wary of those that have not been through the same quality control processes that Toyota put the car through. Obviously if you don't track the car it's not a problem.
  9. Might as well save the money for this: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-f/715864-ppe-full-exhaust-system-with-dual-mode-muffler.html Adjustable, so you can be loud when you want it and then switch back to luxury mode
  10. I can't speak for the ISFs without the LSD, but those around in Brisbane know my car has been on track days and skid pans pretty often. The LSD brings the car's ability to power out of corners to a new level, if you turn off all the aids you can not only get the car sideways easily by using power oversteer (no need for Scandinavian flick, the car has enough power to go sideways anytime you feel like it). Jab the throttle, wait for the rear to swing round and then hold the drift by modulating the throttle and countersteering. I've been on a track with an M3 (mine's a MY2012 ISF) and he could not shake me off. I overtook him on the straights (I've got PPE headers and the Borla catback, so I'm not exactly stock) and when we got into the paddocks I could hear the disappointment in his voice at "losing" to an ISF... Still too many people underestimate this car, particularly the revised later year models.
  11. Any Queenslanders interested in cruising down together for this?
  12. Just went for the 30,000km service and got the dreaded "you need new front rotors and brake pads" news - $2,200. The price of F!
  13. Whoa! That's really pricey! The PPE ones only cost about $3k all up, including modification and installation.
  14. ^^^ What Danny said. This is why I don't do full on race days any more, just happy laps. If I destroy my car, I'll be depressed. If I destroy my car AND a Ferrari next to me, I'll be depressed AND broke....
  15. Yeah me too, I change oil every 5,000km so it's too hard to tell if I'm losing oil, if any. What kind of oil do you use? Regular organic oil tends to break down more easily than fully synthetic.
  16. Wow, a big change from the IS F! Hope you are enjoying your new purchase and see you around mate!
  17. A month in and I am absolutely in love with the car. It sounds great, just enough to be aggressive but not over the top. It's definitely more aggressive when the transmission is in manual mode. Random people have started coming up to me telling me that it sounds like an exotic! Let me know if any of you want to meet up and hear my setup in person. I have the Borla catback and PPE header combo, with Magnaflow high-flow cats. The people that did my setup are: Exotic Exhaust 29 Jijaws St Sumner Park QLD 4074‎ (07) 3279 6355 The owner's name is Mick, tell him Elgin recommended you. He already knows what to look out for, where to get the headers from and what to modify in order to fit them on our RHD cars without any fitment problems (again, if you buy the headers directly from PPE/Sikky and fit them on without modification, you will have scrubbing, don't try!)

    Rc F

Serviced my ISF yesterday and the service manager told me it's arriving in Australia early 2014. 2 door coupe, 339kW from the 5L V8.
  19. Hi! The next one is up. It's on 28 September. I've already paid and registered. The spots usually get taken up, so I'd recommend getting your reservation in.
  20. Hi Pedro You're in luck. There are tons of events running at QR and Lakeside, virtually every week there's something on. It's just a matter of knowing when and how to join. Personally, I have stopped going for full on track days because I've found the maintenance schedule for a track day a bit too grueling (replacing tyres, brake pads, oils, diff fluid). Once you start doing lots of track days the car needs to be serviced at extra intervals (I think every 7,500kms according to the Lexus log book). Instead, I go for the monthly "Happy Laps" that are organised by the local car clubs. There was one just this morning. It's a one hour, no pressure cruising session at Queensland Raceway that allows you to drive your car to your limit. Because it is only 1 hour and you are not driving at the limit all the time, it's not too hard on the car and the only thing you are chewing up is fuel. Here's a short video of me at the last one: I don't post these events up on this forum because I usually get poor response when I do, but if you are interested I will PM you when the next one is coming up.
  21. One important thing to note: Don't buy the headers from PPE and expect them to go in fine. THEY NEED TO BE MODIFIED, or the headers will scrub against the steering rack. The installers I went with had a week to muck around with my car before they got it right.
  22. Thanks, BULLIT. You are right about the sound, it is quite loud. I had a good drive with it last night, trying to test and make sure no CELs or scrubbing and everything looks good. Hats off to the guys for pulling off a tricky install. I reset the ECU and went for some spirited drives to let the car learn the new mod. Firstly, it is LOUD. It sounds like a 60s muscle car, when you are idling at the lights you can hear the rumble. People turn and stare. They look at the Lexus badge. They scratch their heads in confusion. A Lexus making that sound? However, having said that, there is LESS DRONE. I can't explain this. There used to be a drone spot at around 2,000rpm with my Borla exhaust but it's not there anymore. If you drive the car sedately, it still feels like a Lexus, but prod the accelerator and you will get a shock! You press the sport mode button, put the transmission in manual. Lights turn green, you mash the accelerator. The car leaps forward and the exhaust note turns into a feverish howl, as if there is a rabid wolf under the bonnet crying out for blood. "HOLY SHI.." you shout as you realise you're already at 100km/h and nervously look around for any law enforcement. As you come to the next set of lights, you downshift, the throttle blips gloriously and barks at any unsuspecting pedestrians who scurry out of the way. It is only then you realize you're smiling like an idiot. I did a timed pull - 0-100km/h in 4.1s. The challenge is no longer "go faster!" but "stop losing traction!". The traction control light comes on a lot more often, and I'd expect tyre lifespan to be dramatically reduced. On a wet road, it takes finesse and self-control, along with the ISF's brilliant VDIM system to prevent you from getting into trouble. I've driven a C63 with the performance pack, and my ISF now feels MUCH faster. I've also driven the GTR which is faster, but not by that much. The ISF has gone from "wow that's quick" to "my face is stuck on the rear window". Just driving it around the city gets people staring and pointing fingers. Hands down, most insane mod I have done to the car yet. It totally transforms the car.
  23. I am a happy man :-) One word to describe it? Manic. It sounds exotic and the RPMs build up so quick now. The extra power is definetely noticeable - more noticeable than when I went from stock to aftermarket exhaust. Haven't had a chance to really drive it hard yet, will keep you all updated.
  24. Just got a call - my car is ready to be picked up with the PPE headers installed. I will go pick it up at lunchtime. I will post up videos of it and a review of it. If all goes well, you Brisbane ISF owners will have someone who can install the PPE headers for you. I won't post the price I was charged yet, but I can tell you it is ridiculously cheap, considering the scale of the job (the subframe has to be dropped) and they even hooked up the oxygen simulators. Once I have made sure the job was well done and no check engine light comes on, I will post up the details on where you can buy the RHD headers and the shop that did the install. I don't want to recommend them until I am 100% sure it is a good install.
