  1. IS350 2ed GEN,trip computer 9.5L/100km, in reality I have recorded 10.5L by the method of redline to redline kms
  2. to me, the 2 Gen F-sport suspension is too firm and SL is way more comfortable and has much better ride quality, I dont go track
  3. sounds like tramlining to me, I have got the same issue and solved by lowering the tyre pressure/change tyres, maybe check your lower control bushes? or check if there is any recalls for your power steering system
  4. Thanks for your input Alex, maybe the next thing I could do is to replace the original Dunlop SP 2050 tyres with Michelin
  5. ilv1004s,thank you for the comment, sometimes on uneven road, it feels like the car drives itself, the rough road surface makes the steering wheel turn slightly, which is weired to me(have driven various of BMWs,Merc,Audi,Mazda,Honda,Infinity) but seems normal for the 2gen IS. Looks like upgrading to 3Gen IS would be a good choice as I'm very impressed by 3Gen chassis,
  6. Hi all, I'm currently driving a 2011 IS350 SL, the ride is ok but can be harsh especially on uneven road, I'm thinking of upgrade my coilover to HKS Hipermax GT, was quoted $2600 include GST and labour, does anyone have experiences with coilover upgrade? I'm not looking at lowering the car, just want to have more comfortable ride, any comments appreicated, thanks a lot
  7. Hi Diesmile, congratulations and that's a really good price, did you buy privately or from Lexus dealer?
  8. I have found that 335 M sport way too bumpy for me, low profile 19"tyre+Run flat, what a combination, and also the seat is as hard as a rock,.IS350F is tuned on the firm side but you will never feel uncomfortable, the leather quality is very good (semi-aniline) and ventilated seats are very useful Handling: BMW is still the winner, steering feels more precise, but IS350 is not bad at all, say if porsche 911 would score a 10, then I'd give 335i 9/10, toyota 86 8.5/10, Mercedes C coupe with AMG pack 8 and IS350F 8 Powertrain: 335i wins for output especially power on wheel (dyno would tell), but IS350 has more than enough power for me and I like the smooth ride without turbo, I would give 335i a 10 and IS350 9.5 Reliability: Everyone could tell Cost of the ownership: IS350F+ep2 is the best value for $80K while 335 would cost me over $115K (after negociation, both fully loaded with every possible options), Technology:BMW wins, I like the HUD, elec tail gates, surrounding view camera, and I-drive is much easier to use. Style: IS350 is not that bad when you actually see it and F30 is not as good looking as E90,but I still prefer BMW for the exterior. Lexus wins the interior, especially for the IFA instrument really stands out however I have to point out that I'm disappointed about the quality of cheap plastics and the aluminium materials used in dashboard and door panels. Let's put in this way, if ASX reaches 20000, I would buy a Merc S400 for long trip cruise and 335i for short drives (no more than 30 minutes and only by myself), but if I have only $70-80K budget, IS350F is the one to go, it surely wins the battle against 328i which is in the same price range
  9. Hi WOG,the issue is probably due to the engine passed the shakes to the exhaust and thus resonance and you feel vabriation and noise. If I were you, I would: * lift the car up and and see if the exhuast pipe is shaking badly at around 1200 rmp, if so , move to step 2 *take the exhaust pipe off and see if there is any vabriation at the certain speed, you will hear increased exhaust sound but if the vabriation is gone, that means you are on the right track. * do some fix to the exhaust pipe, someone has solved this by weld a soft pipe to connect the exhaust (so engine vibration wont pass to the exhaust pipe) or you might add a "U"ring to fix the exhaust to the chassis just my 2 cents, better get Lexus to check it for you
  10. Hi Diesmile, They bought brand new Mode 2014 in Syd, the IS350F is blue in red, I personally think it is the best combination. I'm in Brisbane and the best dealer could do here for IS350F+EP1 is $76000 (three years service for corporate programme, duties cheaper in QLD). if your budget is around 60K, I would still recommond you the demo IS350Fs,10k kms is nothing for a Lexus. the 3.5L engine is a GEM, it beats the BMW 335! it is in totally different world from the 250 or 300H. once you drive the 350, you will know. in addition, 3.5L engine doesn't have the carbon build up issue like the 2.5L and fuel comsumption on my car is 9.7L (70% highway) Also, the steering with VGRS(only in 350F and SL model) is sharper. Now Lexus has MY2015 out, with some upgrades in lights, and also reverse alarm which could detect side incoming vehicles, make sure you take this into account when negociating with dealers, might worth wait a month or two. If you are not a "fast"driver, another good choise might be the BMW 320i, with 17 inches tyres, it is comfort and quiet (surprisingly quieter than the IS), and you get all the fansy technologies, such as HUD, electronic tailgate, 360 view camera etc.... someone I know bought MY14 New 320i sports line, sunroof, 5 year/80 K service pack, in Mel City BMW, driveaway was $54500 and in Brisbane the best I got was $61000 for a 320i with luxury line, sunroof, metallic paint, innovation pack(must have, all the good technology stuffs) and the 5 year service pack. tried the 320 Msport and 328i but the ride is to rough for me. However for 320i, the ride is actually quite comfort (not as good as Lexus though) and the powertrain, chaissis and steering are all top of its class. Good luck and let us know how you goes, cheers!
  11. Hi Diesmile,my reply might be too late for you, * Price wise, one of my friend bought a 2014 IS250 basic+EP (sun roof) drive away $58500, another friend bought IS350 Fsport+EP1 $76000, just for your information * The brake of hybrid cars is different from normal ones, it uses so called "Power generate brakes", the power is actually recycled when you first brake the car, and when you press the brake deeper, the mechanic then get involved, I personally hate this feeling, very much. For the IS serise, I would recommend IS350 Fsport over the other two models, the power matches the fantastic chassis and steering is very good(not as good as BMW 3 but very close) Hope this helps
