  1. Hi, Yep Kewish Automotive have closed down due to person health reasons I was told. Ringwood Automatics 5/156 - 160 New street Ringwood Vic, 98791009 is the next go to business for complete transmission oil changes with your Lexus. I was quoted $400 including the new lexus filter kit to complete the proper procedure. My 2012 RX350 is approaching 200,000kms and I will be going there very soon once I can get a day off work 🙂
  2. Hi, So today we upgraded from an 2007 IS250 Luxury Sports to an 2011 RX350 Presitge, yes and the IS will be for sale tomorrow, but a little more about that after I ask a question. We brought the RX privately, Gold with cream interior, is spotless and very happy but..... Got it home and the wife said while reversing it out the driveway, gee the parking sensors are late coming on compared to the IS, bugger me but there weren't any fitted on this car when I got out to look. We had both totally overlooked these when we test drove and inspected the car on Monday. Will call Lexus tomorrow for the cost of purchase and fitting etc. Or does anyone recommend an aftermarket brand etc and business that would do this in Melbourne etc. Any info would be good. Now our IS250 Sports Luxury is Black with cream interior, 2007 model, 199,000 country hwy kms (Gippsland) Serviced every 10,000kms, is running lovely and trouble free but my wife wanted something a little higher off the ground for vision etc (happens at 50yrs) Will supply and RWC and has rego asking $13,000 - Call all text me on 0419338761
  3. Hi, my previous post and experience with HID globes on an 2007 is250 - it had aftermarket globes and they would dim and flicker randomly Gidday fellas, So a read a lot, looked at Youtube videos that were available, spoke to a few knowledgeable people and also my trusty local mechanic. (good mate) Lexus wanted $1600.00 plus GST per housing, which I was serious thinking about doing. Lexus wreckers wanted $440.00 per housing for 2006 - 2007 housings, didn't give this a second thought as I would only end up with old housings again. After all my reading online both here and OS on forums etc, one person said to replace with new Lexus original globes and this will fix the problem. So I brought 2 x new HID globes for $350.00 each from Lexus and fitted them up. Fixed the problem straight away. They are perfect and super bright. I ran the car for 1 hour, not a flicker or fault for either side. So there you go, Lexus housings do not like Phillips low beam globes, I don't care what you think as I put up with this inferior standard lighting for two years and paid $100 dollars for *BLEEP* Phillips after market globes thinking it would help, but no it didn't, so its original all the way for me from now on with anything to do with lighting on this car. The Phillips globes would work for 15 minutes, then flicked off and on, would go out completely on either side at random intervals. Even my local mechanic was a little amazed, yes the cost is hard to justify but it fixed the problem and a lot cheaper than the cost of 2 x new housing.. It is not a ballast issue, ballasts never fail in Oz as our climate is to mild, so consider your globes, and consider Lexus genuine parts on this issue, oh please don't get me wrong, I love a bargain and always go for aftermarket parts, but this is a lesson learnt :) Cheers Grant

  5. Hi, My headlight ballasts have thrown in the towel, this has gotten a little worse over the past few months to a point of where I drive along at night and after about 15 -20mins they both flicker and go out all together only leaving high beams and fogs working, they then remain very spasmodic. so my options are...... To buy very expensive genuine new headlight housings . To buy 2nd hand from a wrecker which still might do the same thing. To buy new ballasts, remove the bumper and headlight housings and carefully install new ballasts as this youtube vid shows and has anyone on here done this refit?? To get the headlights upgraded to LED etc.. Also what newer model headlights will fit the 2007 easily and without any complications, I ask this because my old perspex housing lens have gone a little greenish and look aged so I am open to all ideas at the point, Any thoughts and info would be great, Cheers Grant
  6. Hey Bazzle, I just ordered one from the ebay site, been looking for a while for one that suits, this will do nicely :) The soft dash has always worried me a little
  7. basically where the fuel pump is located, under the rear seat in the tank.
  8. OK problem now solved. My local mechanic and good mate has now rectified the fuel pump noise issue. Today he had time again to look at my car, and after Monday when a new Bosch fuel pump he installed which was only $100 odd dollars compared to a Lexus one of $700, well the Bosch one was ticking loudly right from the start at idle, reverse, low speed etc. but to bloody loud to be normal I thought for a quality branded product like Bosch. Out came the rear seat and he added an extra clamp to hold the new pump in place firmly and all the noise stopped and it is as quiet as the original one - Very happy!! :)
  9. Hi, Yesterday the fuel pump packed it in on my IS250 2007, i limped the car in safe mode a few kms back to my local mechanic and good mate and left it there for the day. A new Bosch fuel pump was installed and the car is running and responding it should. BUT the new pump is so very loud at idle in the cabin etc. Our lexus has always been so very quiet and smooth, I have never heard the fuel pump before while driving in its 178,000kms and 10 years. Is this common with quality aftermarket parts, or should I have put a Lexus fuel pump in the car which may be quiet like the one its would replace? Trouble is we live 150kms from a Lexus dealer. Any info from previous experience would be great - Cheers Grant
  10. No need to whiff around my car, never smelt a thing!!.. Hopefully it slowly disappears
  11. 177,000kms, on it now. We plan on keeping it for many years as it does everything lovely and easily plus we are not one for the latest bell's n whistles very few years :) The diff is not a seal unit, no:)
  12. Hi Will, It will be interesting to see the colour of the "unchangeable oil" when it comes out :) this is around the some kms as I had mine done for the first time. Best of luck to you and thanks for the post
  13. Well done and so glad to hear, oh and good on you for stepping outside the box and getting it done instead on going by the dealer service book internals and completely ignoring it altogether. Preventative maintenance is bloody cheap!! - Cheers
  14. No need to service or PROPERLY flush the gearbox Lexus say... Bull*BLEEP* I say!!. At 150,000 gentle Hwy kms, my auto had black/brown *BLEEP*ty oil come out of it after ringing around the Lexus and some Toyota dealerships to be told just that, "It is not needed and cannot be thoroughly flushed"...Total Rubbish I thought in a modern world. After hunting around I was recommended to a business in Dandenong by a A1 mechanic, I rang, booked it in then there, where I stood and watched the procedure from the sidelines. Yep black oil was pumped out with the engine running and litres of new red oil pumped in. A new gearbox filter was also installed and all good to go again for $400.00 Very Happy and I'll be back at 200,000kms for another change to see the colour of it after 50,000kms I have no affiliation with the business I have listed below, they just provided very good efficient service. Kewish Transmission - 29 Amberley Cresent Dandenong - 97932220
  15. My input, Penrite 5w-40 Full Synth oil, yep buy a few containers when on sale etc. plus I run Wix oil filters. Have ran it in my V6 hilux since new, now 300,000 kms and never missed a beat. My lexus gets 10,000kms oil and filter changes and its pushing 200,000kms and never missed a beat either. :)
  16. NO!!...... :) For the professional, thorough service and attention to detail they gave my car, for $400.00 I'll certainly be going back there again in another 30,000 kms as the gearbox is running and changing so very smoothly at 173,000 kms on the clock now.
  17. Hi all, 2007 IS250 - My low beam right side headlight does the standard lexus flick on and off trick while driving along, have checked and installed new bulbs and also tightened the connection to the HID bulb holder cap etc. but still flickers Next step now is to replace the ballast, so where does one purchase new ballasts for this model in Australia at a reasonable prices, Denso seems a good option YES /NO?? Anyone have any contacts, recommendations or stock spare parts on here, any info would be great,
  18. Just had both recalls done on my 2007 IS250 yesterday at Blackburn Lexus in Melbourne. Excellent service, very time efficient and my wife was impressed with the complete setup - Thank you Blackburn Lexus!! :)
  19. Gidday, I followed a youtube "walk thru" vid and brought the screen off ebay in the UK, is bloody easy if you just take your time and step through it slowly over a couple of hours.
  20. Gidday, Yep tried this over the weekend on my 2007 IS250 and it worked a charm, had it have a couple of goes at it with the extended counting but all good. Many thanks,
  21. Hi Atlantis I wrote this line below on one of my posts in this thread for the benefit of Melbourne Owners, it reads - "Get that oil changed and I can highly recommend Kewish Automotive - 29A Amberley Cres, Dandenong South, Phone (03) 9793 2220" Sorry mate but that clearly states a business name and address, even a phone number to call and as for your comment "this thread is one of the most useless reads I've seen so far" well best of luck to you and that will certainly encourage new members to the forum with an attitude like that coming from a moderator..
