  1. If you have a factory amp, it will be under the passenger seat. honestly dont know about the harness if you have an amp, when i did my install, i ran all new wiring to the speakers, and all new power wiring as for competitions, i cant afford to have the voltage loss through the cars factory wiring setups. If you are competent with wiring in a stereo, and want to save money, then this is not hard. From memory (i replaced mine 2 1/2 years ago) the speakers are 6 1/4" in the doors, but dont quote me on that, they could be 6"s, i cant remember exactly, and the rears are 6x9's
  2. sheesh, tezz overload around this place ;) Name: Libby Location: Hamilton NZ Ride: 1992 Toyota Windom 3.0G - Almost every optional extra including sunroof Mods include: ACIS vacuum mod (wasnt done by choice, the broken piece was too expensive to fix) Pod Filter Planed Heads (only very mildly from blown head gasket) Bonnet vent to allow the pod to breathe RPS muffler 17" Advanti Lugarno mags 215/45/17 GT Radial Champiros King Springs Aftermarket rear spoiler (no clue what it is, got it second hand from a fibreglasser) Tints Mildly customised interior Domain DVD head unit Eonon 7" in dash screen Fusion FP-504 powering the factory speakers Another amp (cant remember what it is and i cant see it lol) 2x Lanzar Viberant 15" subs (131.9db running on the fusion amp) Future mods include: Paint job (Deep blood red with black roof/bonnet/boot) New Suspension (the kings were a waste of money cause of the crappy suspension design in these cars) full extractors and new exhaust custom split bonnet on hydraulics Suicide doors in the rear upgrade sound system for the 3rd time redo and complete the interior (the damned glue is letting go with heat) bodykit Rebuilt 3VZ-FE (my current one is a little tired) Photos (except of the NEW spoiler) can be seen at Me Bebo Site
  3. relatively easy to do, can be done by anyone, even those with no clue on car audio... The biggest part of the job is removing the parcel tray... First, take out the back seat, both the bottom (just lift at the front of it and it'll pop up) and the back of it (2 12mm bolts under it at each door and lift up to unhook it at the top) 2nd, take off the 2 interior panels that go up the pillar by by the back window (simple, just carefully pop them off, no bolts or anything) we now have a bare free parcel tray, along the front (previously hidden by the back seat) carefully pop out the black clips (may need to be careful and use a big flatblade screwdriver or similar to lever them out enough), and there should be a few more each side including under where the seat belt lays. these black clips are all that hold it in position, once they are all out it will easily lift out with no coaxing. After this u now have your 6x9 speakers showing, 4 bolts on each and your speakers are out and can be replaced
  4. No clue on the fuse, i havent as yet found one so i would assume it junctions in with the main head unit. just a point of interest to anyone looking at putting aftermarket head units in, can be done, but if u have the model that has a factory amplifier under the passengers seat, beware of having issues with wiring (power and speakers), take it to someone u know that can figure it out. I ended up completely rewiring everything for my new headunit after my stacker stopped working and i found burn marks on the main board inside it.
  5. Getting the guage cluster out is relatively simple, just take off the surrounds, (2 screws hold the top on the underside) and undo 4 screws that hold the cluster in, gently pull out and unplug the cluster. Its relatively simple repair to make as long as u can get ur hands on the needles. in answer to an above question, there is a pin assembly that goes up the center of the needle where it attaches and that powers the leds. After replacement and a little cleaning of connections etc, i have had no problems with my needles since... just blown a backlight instead that i cant be naffed pulling out the cluster to replace lol
  6. outta luck on that idea guys The needles cannot be brought from toyota on their own, only the entire guage cluster at NZ$1100+gst I have the needles off my spare dash. they'r easy enough to get off, just take the coverings off the front and gently lift them off, problem is, they'r a line of VERY tiny LED's. someone that has the electrical expertise would be able to repair them, i found a guy in NZ that can but thats NZ$130 per needle minimum i will put up some photos in a few days
  7. hey, just curious how many members from nz are still in here? and where in nz are they? wouldnt mind sorting out something to meet some of them...
  8. this may sound like a bit of a stupid question, but my windom has a button on top of the steering column cowling above the wiper stalk... can anyone tell me what it does since the comments about it on the cowling are all written in japanese and of course i cant read japanese lol also, can someone tell me why my dinger that tells me my key is in the ignition is doing funny things, i think its dying or soemthing, but it comes and goes, sometimes dings normal, sometimes rapidly, sometimes not at all and its getting rather annoying. is there a fuse i can pull for this? or how else can i solve this?
  9. i have a spare dash in my new parts car, ive got the same problem in my windom, so i'm gonna pull out the other one and investigate this, i'll post an answer after ive done this
