Hi Team

I'm new to the site and just picked up an IS200

It's clocked 123,000 KM and I'm looking to do the Cam Belts very soon

I'm hesitant in going to a dealership as I can already feel that i'll be ripped off

Would appreciate a heads up on decent mechanics, who are reasoably priced and reliable.

Cheers

Bump...

Lexus of Chatswood quoted me $1,000 for Cam Belt change + $300 for water pump and tensioners...

I paid $1,200 for major service on my WRX which also did the above (keep in mind there are 2 timing belts on a boxer motor) plus all fluids, filters and lubricants - work carried out by MRT Performance, which is not a bargain basement mechanic by any means

is $1,300 for a timing belt + water pump change a bit pricey?

this might help give you a guide - got mine done in akld, nz @ 100k km and it was ~$1300 as needed a new water pump as well as belts. On top of that had the transmission flushed and serviced. total cost ~NZ$1700 ouch.

when i looked into the cambelt some mechanics systems said it wasnt due until 150k km but others said 100k km. i ended up taking the low risk option of 100k km.
