  1. Hi,

I have some aftermarket rear parking sensors fitted to my black IS250 prestige, and it just looks perfect. It is not linked to the car controls in any way but it emits a beeping nose from the boot (hidden) (and sounds just fine).

They spray paint it with your car colour before they come out to install, and it just takes about 1 hour.

Cost was about $500 with I thought was fine, as a scratched bumper will cost me $500 to repair.

You can get front sensors too, but I didnt bother.

    I would highly recommend it.

wasserfal - are you referring to a rear parking video camera or just a beep beep audio system?

    Bob

    Bob,

I was referring to the Lexus Dealer fitted Reversing Sensors. The dealer told me there is a small indicator inside which is stuck onto the Rear View Mirror, with coloured lights to tell you how close you are to something (presumably with beeps as well). They were unable to provide me with pictures of how it looked inside the car.

My partner then started talking about a Tom Tom Sat Nav unit for the car, and all of a sudden I pictured a beautiful interior fouled by wires and clipped on accessories. I bit the bullet and re-ordered the car with the Enhancement Pack.

The ship arrived yesterday, so by mid-next week I should be on the road. Cant Wait.

    DB.

  2. Does anyone have pictures of what the internal display of the Dealer fitted Rear Parking Sensor looks like for the IS250 (Prestige). Im thinking of ordering on the IS250 I just bought, but want to make sure it doesnt look (too) tacked onto the rear vision mirror, with a cable hanging out of the roof lining.

I also hear the display can be mounted behind the steering wheel on the dash - has anyone done this - how does it look?

    Thanks

    DB.

  3. Hi ozis250,

Yep, I was aware of the 225 max width on the tyre, but there are so few choices out there at the moment in terms of campatible rims, and to be honest, some of the ones that do fit look absolutely shocking and given a choice you would almost leave the 16" granny wheels that come with the car..!

The minimum offset I've been told is suitable for the car is +40 depending on the rim..you might be ok with your OZ Racing rims but I would check around just to be sure because I've been getting so many conflicting reports.....however everyone agrees that +45 offset is the correct one for the is250, so that is the offset that I've been quoting when checking out rims..

The offset for the SSW Nirvana and Advanti Fluid are both +45...I tried to get the Advanti Karla's like Palms has posted previously but some places even refused to quote me on them because they said there is no way they are compatible unless you 'roll' the guards back to make them fit...which wasn't an option for me....I think this explains why Palm's wheels rub when you turn full lock and go down driveways etc?

I am getting 225/40 R18 Bridgestone G3's on my car for performance, low road noise, durability and handling...another good reason I chose them is that the Bridgestone Tyre centre where I am buying them will rotate and balance the tyres FREE OF CHARGE every 8,000km for the life of the tyre..pretty enticing deal....I hear the G3's look awesome with the SSW Nirvana....which by the way, looks very much like the new wheels on the 07 Subaru GT-R..

What ytpe of is250 did you order ?

I ordered the Prestige with Sunroof, tint and rear sensors in Granite. I didn't bother with the enhancement pack.

    ozis250,

Rear sensors on the Prestige? Is that an option?

I havent had any of the dealers in Sydney tell me about that.

Ordered an is250 Prestige with 18" Lexus Mutispoke Wheels on Wednesday.

Would love to get Rear sensors if possible, the car looks to be difficult to reverse into a tight spot due to limited rearward view. How much are they?

  4. I can understand Lexus Aus needs to build in enough feature differentiation between the is250 models to justify the large price gaps, but why can they not offer a 17" or 18" wheel option on the is250 Prestige?

Ive driven the car and absolutely love it, a definate sale for Lexus - on the proviso they offer a decent wheel package for the base model.

Considering you get 17" wheels standard on a $27000 Ford Focus Zetec, and standard on pretty much every Japanese competitor $10K or so cheaper (Honda, Subaru, Mazda) as well as some Europeans (Saab, VW), wouldnt it be wise to have at least an option to squeeze an extra $1500 out of customers by offering them larger wheels. Im actually at a loss to find a Car Manufacturer that doesnt offer a wheel upgrade at all??

My partner works for the RTA, and speaks to car dealers daily. The Lexus dealer in the area has been saying since last November that almost every is250 Prestige customer has been asking for a larger wheel option, yet after more than 6 months, nothing has happened.

At the very least, ring Lexus in Japan, ask them to send you 500 sets of 17" wheels, and charge customers $1500 for the upgrade. Keep the 16" wheels, you'll surely be able to sell them to customers or smash repairers if they have a damaged car in the future.

Come on Lexus Oz, give us an option that makes a stunning car all the more stunning.
