  1. Hi guys, i'm such an idiot for asking these questions :P , but i really want to know, just what exactly do our cars need in the oiling dept.? i've got a 6 speed manual. i need engine oil, then what else?? :o , in other words, what do i check for when i pop the hood? another thing, can i pour distilled water into the coolant? because that's what the gas station ladies do to my car when i get gas. damn do i feel stupid! :P

  2. thanks keith, well, i think my altezza must have some problems then.... because the few times i've tried hitting all gears to 5000+, it starts to go limp on me. most obvious is 1st gear...

my altezza's been quite modded from the first owner, and i had it changed back to original (if my mechanic didn't lie) clutch and flywheel. just seems like it's not clinching well. i do have 4-2-1 exhaust manifold setup.

i rarely hear about fujitsubo recommended in this site. i wonder why? ;)

  3. so, i asked my mechanic what he recommends for an exhaust upgrade, he recommended the Fujitsubo exhaust, i forgot which model it is. he said it won't enhance the low end, but will give more power to the mid range and high end. so my question to you all is, what's considered low end, mid range and high end?? is 3000rpm and above considered mid range? then when do i step into the high rev range??

another question, if anyone has heard of the Fujitsubo, is it any good? my mechanic recommended this based on some exhaust guidebook in japanese that lists fujitsubo as a prime exhaust, or something...

so, any comments would be appreciated! thanks!

  4. hi, thanks for the replies, i'm not technical at all, but i read somewhere that because of the proximity from the flywheel to the engine, a pound off it actually translates to 100lbs, or at least a multitude of the weight taken off the flywheel.

anyway, wouldn't a "better" flywheel help transfer more % of power to the wheels?:huh:

  5. Hi all! i've a question about flywheels: is it beneficial to install a lightweight flywheel against the stock clutch? or is it even possible at all? i have both a Jun lightweight flywheel and a TRD clutch, but due to my crappy leg, i can't have a heavy clutch pedal right now. so, would installing the lightweight flywheel help with my altezza's pickup speed? is it compatible with the stock clutch?? i have no idea?? thanks guys!

oh yeah, another thing is, would installing a performance exhaust system like the Tom's exhaust be equal in performance gain like the flywheel?? i guess i'm looking for better throttle response, better pickup, rather than higher top speed. thanks again!

p.s.: oh, i apologize if this has been brought up before, but i can't seem to find any specific info regarding a performance flywheel against the stock clutch.

  6. ...and don't forget the exhaust resonance at 3000rpm when decelerating....

Are you guys sure this is not one of the noises from the diff?

    keith

wow, i have the same problem! i thought i was only me. the sound goes from the bass growl to a high pitched "hawk" sound for a moment right? i didn't realize this was a common problem.

  7. Hi all! my name's Howard and i'm an altezza owner. just thought i'd say hello to all you people here. i posted a question about a lighter clutch pedal awhile back, and your answers really helped me in deciding what can be done. thanks for that.

i've never owned a car that has an online forum before so this is something quite new to me, the stuff in here is quite informative, and has helped me out quite abit, just by reading the posts. i'm not actually in australia, nor am i an australian. i'm a chinese-canadian who's been living in hong kong for the past 3 years. any forum members here from hong kong? ;)

anyway, just thought i'd introduce myself here, , hope to learn more from you guys in the future!

  8. Hi! thanks again for all the info you've given me. I've finally changed the clutch to the original altezza clutch... the original owner (i bought it second-hand), had Jun lightweight flywheel installed and TRD clutch... so i switched it back to the original one.... what a difference! the pedal's now light as feather! the down side is, the car seems to be running slower than before.... slower pickup and less power in the higher revs.. oh well, i guess when i totally fix my back problem, i can always put those TRD clutches back in. anyway, i realized in my posts i never introduced myself... let me do that on a new topic. thanks again!

  9. Hello to all altezza owners! i just recently found this forum and am hoping you guys can help me solve this problem i'm having.... i recently had an accident (not car accident) and had a slipped disc on my lower back, this is causing my left leg to hurt when trying to use it, this includes pressing onto the clutch pedal :( . so, i just wanna ask if there's a mod to make the clutch pedal much lighter so i can still drive!? i'm not much of a tech person so please bear with my lack of knowledge in these things if this is actually a simple problem. i hope you guys can help me out on this, so i can get back to driving my altezza! thanks so much in advance!
