SSML,
The roof rack is just for a surf board which in itself won't be very heavy but at 100 K/h might get a fair degree for force on it. I will check out the suction roof carrier though, might save me a few dollars on a genuine Lexus rack (if there is such a thing).
Cheers Manic :)

I looking a putting a roof rack on my IS200 but I'm worried it will ruin the look of my baby. I've been surfing the various Lexus sites but cannot find a picture of an IS200 with a roof rack fitted.
Does anyone have a rack on their car or seen a pic of what they look like?
Cheers Manic :)

What about this emblem? Look very nice on a white or silver Lex,
I've seen red ones which look better (IMO) than the blue, kinda like the Honda V-Type badges... :D

Can't believe anyone would actually sell there car on eBay! :o

I was reading a post on the UK forum about how some owners have experienced 'clunkyness' in the 1st to 2nd gear change. My old IS had this for 5 years and I just got used to it, thought it was the box...I felt that this was confirmed when my new IS had the same sh*ty 1st to 2nd gear change.
Do any other manual IS200 owners know what I'm talking about? It's like the sincro is not quite right or on the way out....Is there anything that can be done? My baby is due for a service in a few thousand kilometers so I'll probably ask Mr Lexus then <_<

Hey Guys,
Is it normal to have alot of black dusty/powder (coming from my wheels I think), that manages to get my car dirty all the time?!?!
Depends on how hard you drive it!!! :o If I have a week when I'm feeling a bit on the fast side (this weekend for example, Aus F1) therefore braking heavy, then my mags dust-up something shocking.....particularly the front ones. I just use Armour All car wash with a soft brush on them.....
-
Matt,
Sounds amazing!! I can't imagine something so simple making such a noticable difference especially since the IS already has excellent corning and handling dynamics. How easy was it to install and what was the damage dude???

I'm trying to find out about the extra trimming on the bottom of the front spoiler in this picture.....Anyone know about it? I know that it's a genuine Lexus part....
Also the tail in this pic;
The reason I'm interested is because they are both on my car and I would like to know a little about them......
The spoiler on the Yellow IS is a Lexus front skirt (in Australia) suitable for the standard bumper.
It is not a "Legana" front skirt. The Legana kit does not have a lower bumper skirt, but a complete front bar.
And the rear skirt is part of the Australian "Legana" kit.
Hope that helps :)
I actually don't have the rear skirt, its the rear wing I have on my tail, I'm thinking its a standard Lexus Australia part.....
-
So the tail is part of a Leguna kit, ie. front spoiler lip and rear tail?
Another thing about my car which is noticable is a firmness in the suspension and steering....I recently drove a 2003 IS200 Sport around for 2 weeks, the second I got back into my car it felt very different.....much firmer, more responsive steering (hard to explain) :o
Any ideas on what this might be? How can I determine if my suspension is standard IS 200 Sport?

This really interests me, because most our members are people who have been on the web and found us. Out there are a lot of Lexus owners who don't search for their car on the web, but will still join up I think.
I was wondering if an ad in a newspaper or a car magazine would be a good idea as well, although really a card handed out is still the best.
greeneyes and guys,
Being a new member I can tell you that I just stumbled onto the website after typing lexus into google! The site was about the 6-10th I had visited. Logic dictated that there must be an group of lexus car owners, so I started searching. I used to be a member of the Alfa Romeo Club Australia and loved it.
I think the cards idea is a great one...I also think the sticker/s on our cars are bound to boost numbers too. :D :D
IDEA: Wouldn't it be great if every new lexus that was sold had URL details of the club for the information of the new owners. Then we would only have to worry about the imports and resales.
My 2 cents............

Wow! What a front end......If I ever get a new grill it would be something like that. Looks very much like a performance Jag grill or something off an Aston Martin.....sweet! B)

Matt,
I have sent you a PM ;)
Now I have a technical question......does anyone know how do these covers go on?
Lets hope they come with installation instructions <_<

The reverse beep has also saved my butt a few times.
when at stop signs i find if i go to put into first gear too fast and hard it can sometimes pop into reverse. I will deffinitly keep my beep :)
with painting the cars hubs I used CRC brakeclean to remove any silicon and oil residue then gave the rusty areas a scuff with coarse sandpaper. Then painted with VHT engine enamel which is heat, oil and chemical resistant.
I have this same problem, minor surface rust on the center hub, looks pretty bad!
Q. Wont the rust eventually return if you just sandpaper or steel brush the effected areas and then paint with VHT engine enamel?
Anyone done this yet?
Actually any official Lexus people might be interested in this post......

Wow!!! Just saw crome covers for side mirrors in the gallery....I have always loved the Audi S3's crome side mirrors.... :P :P :P
Can you get these babies or is it a special release thing Matt? If so, can you give me a price, etc.
Cheers Matt
PS - Did I say I love this Forum already?

OK Matt,
First port of call will be the air filter, TRD or TOM's (do they come with the cleaning kit or extra?). Can you quote me a price + postage ($AU) and I can get a cheque to ya... :D
Cheers Matt

No, I used to have ICQ but got ride ages ago.........I'll have to download MSN and get it on my system.
So you sell this kind of stuff, that's bloody handy for me :D Are you in NZ? How do you do transactions, via bank direct debit, etc.
I'd like to get an air filter first, probably next week....I'm in your hands regarding which is the best, I guess cost is a factor.
I'll check back again tomorrow night, thanx again for your help Matt :D

Hi and welcome...
Do yourself a favour first!!! never buy anything from ebay, because ebay is like a box of chocolate, you never know what ya gonna get!!! lolz...
For Power you can always start off with a TRD / Tom's Filter, then a PreLex vented Radiator Panel and then get down to the Muffler and get a Apex-i S-AFC II, then you are looking your car at around 130kw!!!
For suspension TRD Sports Shocks / TRD springs to give it a lower centre of gravity and stiffer ride...TRD sway bars to tighten the ride and stifffen it!!! ProLex Strut Tower bar to balance your struts (shocks)
For interior, there s Range of TRD / PLP stuff you can get to customise it!!!
Matt :)
Thanx for the welcome and the advice Matt. LOL regarding the eBay, I was getting desperate!!!!
OK, I'm just going to be honest...after the filter you are speaking german to me :( But I hear the 130kw bit loud and clear, you sound like the man :D
If I could trouble you a little more......I'm in Oz, where would I start looking for this stuff? What kind of damage/dollars am I looking at? I guess I should start at the top of the list, the air filter.....TRD or Toms? (Which one has the most POWER improvement!)
I'm loving this forum, nice to meet guys with great taste ;)
Cheers Matt

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and live in Brisbane Australia. I have just purchased a Black IS 200 Sport which is my second IS 200 over the past 5 years.
Big problem is that I'm constraind by the 114 kW barrier and would like to improve on it or at least make the beast sound more the part. Bigger problem is that I know very little about this area and this is what has leed me to these forums....... I'm also a little worried about my warrenty when modifying, etc.
So getting to the point, are there any IS200 owners who have been through my situation who could shead some light on how to get the most bang for your buck. I have been looking at the variuos Lexus websites in Aus but they don't anything on modifications or personallising your car.....
I have had a bit of a look on eBay but there is very little available in AUS.....
Any suggestions???
