  1. Thanks for your help, looks like it is a common thing given that a BMW and an Audi handle it the same way.

Next thing is that I had to turn off the school zone warning as it is on 24/7, you'd think that it would recognise the day of the week and time of day and not provide those, I live in an area where there are 6 schools within 2kms and I go past numerous school zones in my way to and from work, unfortunately for me, well before and after school times, between those and speed/red light camera warnings was a constant warning sound, most annoying when you are on the phone.

Other than that, we are loving it and it is likely to be the first Lexus of many, my wife likes it much better than her fully optioned current series BMW 328 and so does my daughter that drives a Q5.

I strongly agree with your comments about the school zone warnings and I wrote to Lexus Australia about this.

Surely there is an internal clock in the car which a trainee programmer of the satnav system could test the time of day and even the day of the week and disable the school zone alerts in an appropriate manner. I would be happy for the school zone alerts to be disabled between 6pm and 6am and all day on weekends but at all other times have the alerts enabled.

TO quote the reply I got back from Lexus Australia:

"Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback. Every little bit helps Lexus in our continuous pursuit of perfection.

I would like to confirm for you that all feedback is taken very seriously and as such yours has been passed along to the correct parties for review.

Should you require anything further, please don’t hesitate to ask."

Make of the reply as you will

  2. An annoyance of mine is the way the navigation system consistently warns me that I am approaching a school zone even when it's 10pm at night!

Surely there is an internal clock in the navigation system that could be checked to see if the current time is within the hours 6pm to 6am and if so then not issue the alert. The programming could actually go further and check the day of the week to see if the current day is a weekend and not issue the school zone alert at all.

Wouldn't be a major challenge for a programmer to make.

  3. I had the same problem with my CT200h yesterday also.

I contacted the dealership and they had not heard of the problem.

Has anyone have any documentation to the fix they could email me to assist the dealer and have the disc replaced.

    lrpitt@internode.on.net

YOu could always refer the service manager at your dealer to this thread.

  4. Thanks also Melodie for your response and Elisha. I was also keen to hear if Melodie had more trouble. I was on a freeway when heard a pop sound from the console somewhere. The radio went off and the GPS closed down. Gave me quite a start as I'm still getting used to all the buttons and icons. it must have rebooted as the radio came back on and up popped the GPS. Quite disconcerting when driving at 100km/hour. I visited the dealerership who did some checking, couldn't find anything wrong and said to contact them if any further trouble. It's been 5 months now and it has happened again. I also agree, it's totally random. Keen to hear more on this mystery ..... queenfish

Your LEXUS dealer should be aware of this known issue and all that it requires is for them to replace the actual SATNAV DVD. When I took my car to my dealer I wasn't too hopeful that they could identify the problem but as as soon as as I described what happened they knew straight away what the fix was.

If you don't have any luck with your dealer simply cally Lexus Australia customer service and complain.

  5. Hey Everyone,

I picked up my 2011 CT200h Sport Luxury yesterday and am loving every bit of it.

The only issue I am having trouble with is the included "music player" attachment that sits on top of the AUX/120V ports.

Does anyone know if it is possible to import the iPhone/iPod/Smart Phone holder that comes with the CT in the United States?

If anyone can give me some guidance I will be very grateful!

    Thanks

    Patrick

    Patrick,

you can order one at the following link:

    http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accessories-catalog/interior/CT200h-2011/4649.html

Just a word of caution, I have heard reports that it's not entirely vibration free.

Something else you might want to get is a short USB cable. I got a 20cm USB/iPhone cable at the following link:

    Cheers,

  6. As a former IS250 owner I'm not all disappointed with changing over to the CT200h. I changed from an IS250 Prestige to a CT200h Sports Luxury.

Admittedly the CT200h doesn't have the power as that of the IS250 but I enjoy not having to fill-up as frequently as I used to do with the IS250 and of course the much lower fuel consumption.

In my case, financially my monthly payments went down as well as my insurance premiums.

  7. For anyone acquiring a CT200h with an ABN, keep in mind that the CT200h falls into the ATO's definition of a "fuel efficient vehicle" which is a vehicle having a fuel consumption that does not exceed 7 litres per 100 kilometres. The published figure for the CT200h is 4.1 litres per 100km.

The Luxury Car Tax for 2010-2011 would normally cut in at $57,466 but for fuel efficient vehicles it's $75,375. That means that for anyone who can claim the GST back on their purchase, they'll be able to claim the full amount of the GST rather than up to the $57,466 limit.

As a disclaimer, you should confirm the above with your accountant.

Unfortunately the ATO is happy to give you a concession on whether Luxury Car Tax is payable but they won't let you claim any extra GST input tax credit just because it's fuel efficient ...

    http://www.ato.gov.a...8276.htm&page=4

Generally, if you purchase a car and the price is more than the car limit, the maximum amount of GST credit you can claim is one-eleventh of that limit. For 2011-12, the maximum GST credit you can claim is $5,224 (that is, 1/11 x $57,466). This limit also applies to cars which are fuel efficient.

Looks like the government slipped-in a change to the ruling for 2011/2012. Wasn't the case for 2010/2011.

  8. Hi,

I have been reading the forums on the net and have noticed that in Europe there is an add on Digital Radio (DAB/DAB+) module for the Ct200h Radio.

Has anyone imported or got the digital radio fitted in Australia? Or can anyone confirm that this module will work in Australia?

    Thanks

    Ben

One thing that comes to mind is that the digital radio signals don't operate in all areas. Maybe its because of the vastness of Australia that we don't get that option here. In buit-up Europe I would imagine that digital radio is everywhere.

Mind you, if the unit offered AM/FM as well as digital then that would be a different matter. Also, how would it be installed if you have an integrated SATNAV/AUDIO system, there'd have to be a certain amount of "software" reconfiguration for the unit.

  9. Yeah, most of my driving is to and from work which is usually fairly good. 15min of 80-100km/h. 90% highway 10% start stop. My average is 4.8L/100km and if I use 45L - that theoretically gives me 937km. Even at 5L/100km (which I never get up to on a per tank average) that should achieve 900km which I am getting no where near. I might try it this time round. so no one else has tried going below 0?

That's really good fuel consumption. The best I can do for the type of driving I'm doing is about 6.3L/100km.

Wow thats pretty high. Do you just use the standard or sports mode for majority of time?

I'm trying out my below 0 theory today. Have 16Ks left.

My problem is that I'm doing very short stop/start drives each day and that's what I believe is causing the high consumption. I mostly leave the car in ECO ,mode and only switch to SPORTS mode if I'm having to get up a hill.

Good luck with your fuel test, hopefully you'll run out just outside a fuel station :)

  11. Hi all,

Just a question. I have been getting consistently about 750Km and that will usually take me close to 0 (zero) on the remaining range indicator. When I go fill up, I only fill up about 35L which means I should still have around 10L (45L tank) left which should allow me to do around 200km (based on average 4.8L/100km usage) past the 0 mark on the trip computer.

Has anyone tried driving past the 0 mark on the trip computer range indicator?

Never had the guts to try it and risk getting stranded!

750km per tank is not bad I'm getting about 500km per tankful but I suspect that's because I'm doing a lot of stop/start short drives. Still waiting to get the opportunity to test out the range on a long open highway drive.

  12. StephenM: Thanks for telling me of your own experience. I still can't quite believe that I have traded the IS, which is a lovely car. Perhaps the CT reminds me somehow of my first Lexus, an IS200.

I too went from an IS200 to an IS250 and now the CT200h :D

  13. I hope you are enjoying your CT. My partner bought a CT200h Luxury and I love it so much that I have decided to trade in my IS250 on a CT200h F Sports in flame blue and water white trim (I don't like all black interiors). It's meant to arrive in February.

I too downsized from an IS250, got the Sports Luxury and haven't regretted it.

  14. I dont think this is the lexus fault. I used to add +61 to my contacts as well, but found problems over the years with various handsets. The Telco engineer at work tells me that +61 is a landline standard and does not always work witb mobiles.

It's definitely not a problem with the handsets as I've been able to verify. In fact it's the recommended way of encoding phone numbers into a handset if you're wanting to be able to make calls when overseas and not have to worry about remembering what the local international access code is depending on what country you're in.

By the way, how can +61 be a landline standard when the basic telephone does not even have a "+" key on it.

The problem is within the software in the Lexus. When I get a chance I'm going to test out how things work in a friend's Mercedes and see if it has the same issue.

  15. StephenM:

Stone the flamin' crows, cobber, I've been told the problem is they don't have much luck with our wonderful Aussie spoken word. Bugger me, it's hard to believe.

You have to think why it is the humble Ford Focus being advertised on TV lately shows extensive use of voice commands but yet Lexus has disabled this feature for the Australian market.

  16. In my phone all my numbers are prefixed with +61 (allows me to easily call them when overseas) and have been downloaded into my car's contact file.

The problem I'm having is that when I receive a call in the car whilst my phone is bluetooth-connected from someone who's number is stored in the car's contacts file in the above format it does not show on the car's display screen who the caller is. If I edit the phone contact and change it to the regular 04...... or 02...... etc the incoming call is correctly identified.

My phone carrier is Optus but I've been able to prove that it's not a carrier issue nor an issue with my phone. When not connected to my car, incoming calls from a contact stored on my phone are correctly identified regardless of the format used.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

It should be easy to test out. Manually enter a contact into the car's contact file using the +61 format (use you're partner's number or home number) and have the contact call you while the phone is connected to the car and see if it displays the name of the stored user.

  17. I had my CT200h for 2 days. Dealer has given me a full tank of fuel come with the new car. I have already done 277km.

4.8L/100km and after 277km the curising range still showing 540km. look like protentially i can get 800km out of a tank.

    how about yours?

btw. this forum is very quiet! where are the CT200h owners go?

I'd be interested in knowing what your daily travel pattern involves. For the most part of the week I'm doing very short journeys (maybe 5-6km per day) and the best I'm getting is 6.7L/100km in Eco mode.

  18. What seems illogical is that there are 4 sensors on the rear bar even though there is a reversing camera. When reverse parking I don't even take notice of the sensors, I'm always looking at the camera to see how close I can get to the car behind.

I'm not too worried if additional sensors at the front can't be integrated with the park-assist (although it ought to be possible) I just want some alert to indicate I'm up close to the car in front. I'd love a forward looking camera so that I check on the closeness to the car in front especially if it might have a tow-bar fitted :)

  19. Hi all,

Just got my Sports Luxury last week and have been playing with all the various techs packed in.

A particular issue I am having is with the parking sensor - front especially. I have found that there is only 2 side sensors to the left and right of the car. The range is of the sensors also start from 50cm (so the manual says).

I have found during multiple instances that I swear I am about to hit the car in front during parking and the sensors still do not beep at me.

Also the sensors being on the side of the car does not always pick up obstacles that are in front eg: motor bike or shopping trolley ...etc I found that I have to have something that is really blocking the sensors for it to start beeping.

I have found in the accessories section of the lexus webpage that says "4 front sensors" so maybe its an additional cost to get it up to 4 sensors. Have discussed this with my sales guy and he is checking it out for me.

    Anyone having similar issues?

I have exactly the same spec car as you and I have to agree that it definitely needs to have the two inner sensors on the front bar for eactly the same reasons as you've quoted.

I used to have an IS250 with after-market front parking sensors and it had the 4 sensors on the front bar. I've also noticed on a GS which I believe has a park-assist feature that it too has 4 front bar sensors.

I haven't as yet gotten around to speaking to the dealer to find out if additional front sensors can be installed with the park-assist feature but if you do get a response back please post it here.

One thing that puzzles me is why when you have a reversing camera installed do you need have rear parking sensors installed? I suppose the two outer sensors might detect objects out of view of the camera but given recent tragic events with kids being reversed over I suppose it doesn't hurt to have the extra warning.
