  1. dude i am also looking at GS300s at the moment as i may buy one in the near future.

i come from an S13 Silvia background (you would probably know it as 240sx etc) and through those forums (e.g. nissansilvia.com) there are a great deal of importers who import parts from Japan. If/when i buy a lexus i will be going through one of these guys.

there are larger companies/traders who can get what you want, but i have used a guy called Jesse Streeter on many occassions for silvia parts and hve been very impressed. He is an aussie who lives in Japan, and he bids on parts from the yahoo auctions or simply directly contacts companies you ask him to in order to get the parts you request. You do need to have a bit of a clue what you are after to let him know what to look for, but he is very quick to respond and send goods, and is happy to bid/buy things for you up front if they arent too expensive, and then you pay him inclusive of freight when he sends the goods.

GS300 LED Taillights and upgrade headlights are all over the yahoo auctions, so if you asked him about those i have no doubt he would be able to get those priced easily. Also bodykits im pretty sure he can organize to send over for you if you let him know what one you wanted priced e.g. Wald.

to contact him just email dartsun75@gmail.com

i would recommend someone like him also because if you do manage to find parts locally no doubt there will be a large premium/markup on them because there isnt much local demand and thus not much competition

    Dude,

    Have you tried

    importmonster.com.au

  2. Hi

Yes i have made sure the that the system is earthed properly its bolted straight to the body with one of the bolts holding the back of the rear seats on and there isno paint there at all.

I also added another earth strap from the battery to the engine and then to the chassis and im still having the same issue. i didnt really think about getting it reco'ed that might be the next step.

    Thanks

Could also be a stuffed battery??? It would be easier and cheaper to try another battery if you haven't already done so. Just a thought...

  3. Hi

I have a GS 300 which after installing a decent stereo seems to not be charging at the correct voltage.

The stereo souns fine ie. not distorted or anything like that but if i put my interior lights or high beam on when the volume is up the lights dim to the beat of the subs.

Someone looked at the alternator and said it was only charging at 13.2Volts. Which he thought was a little low. The battery was new when i bought the car about 6 months ago.

We checked the voltage at the amp with the volume up and when there was a big bit of bass the voltage would drop just a little.

I priced a new alternator and it was around the $1500 mark trade price so i would like to find out if there is another solution before i spend that sort of $$$.

    Any info would be appreciated.

This could sound VERY STUPID, try using a different meter, the same situation happened to me last week, and it turned out 2 out of 3 meters we had were reading wrong!!!

But if its really the alternator, have you tried getting a price to get it reco'ed.

Also, have u made sure u earthed your system up properly? Any other electrical components u recently did... because it sounds like u have a bad earth somewhere. Hope this helps.

  4. What you find in those communities are alot of drivers are hoons. Obvious if you buy a lexus you're in it not to drag cars but to enjoy comfort, class and prestige etc. Much like BMW and other expensive brands.

But some of the the "expensive brands" forum are more active compared to us here. Y? I could think of quite afew aussie forums that pretty active...

  5. Is there anyone that can give advise as to if it is posssible to make the TV a and sat navigation work in Australia. We have imported my Japanese wife's Aristo....with all the extras but to date I can only get the FM to work. This is a one owner car having been purchased new in Chiba in 1998. It has never missed a beat other than the brakes doing some weird things. WE also have an RX330 we purchased 2 years ago.

There could be a plug-in module of some sort but I'm not too sure. Try bringing your car in to the car audio guys and see what they can do for you.
