  1. hey everyone

another quick solution while stocks last, Aldi is selling a bluetooth transmitter/receiver similar to the above for $30. Came out last week so you need to be quick. i am using it in my car and its awesome for a cheap solution.

    Link: http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_19405.htm

disadvantage: you must turn it on when you jump in the car and it is a rechargable battery (lasts up to 11hrs) (not sure if i can keep it on charge, will try and report back)

  2. I'm a little confuse, what's the point of disable the telephone/bluetooth menu?

    Hey Akuma,

Raoul hasn't disabled the bluetooth / telephone menu as such.He has disabled the protection that had been enabled so that you can now access it whilst you are driving.

(If that makes sense)!! In simple terms, he can now access that functionality whilst the car is in motion!!

What screen were you in at the time Raoul??

    Hey ProjectIS,

I do remember using the volume menu but i think i also tried in another menu. The thing is i was pressing all over the screen, diagonally, up and down and even holding my finger in the in one position for at least 30 seconds ...i had absolutely no idea that the bluetooth protection will be disabled. The whole time while i am thinking a secret menu will pop up but nothing happened. Didn't even realise it till the next day. If i knew in what combination i was pressing on the screen i would be more be than happy to tell everyone but i cant remember :(

PS: i couldnt reply to pm the other day, limit 1 per day?, anyway installed intake and car sounds very nice now, i am happy.. :)

  3. Hello Everyone.

    I hope everyone is well.

This post is to tell everyone that there is a way to disable the telephone/bluetooth menu without installing an overide button switch.

The unfortunate thing is I wouldnt have a clue how I did it. All i remember is that one day i was pressing on the screen of the sat nav in the volume menu and possibly another menu. I was pressing in the corners of the screen randomly, diagonally first then up and down. No menu came up and in fact i thought nothing happened until the next day I was shocked to see that telephone/bluetooth menu was disabled while driving. All functions were available. The amazing thing is this function is now permantly disabled.

The idea came from the original posts on how to overide the gps while driving by pressing on the screen in the volume menu. My lexus is an 08 model and it is well known that this trick does not work 07 and later models. I have tried it many times and never worked just as everyone else experienced. But every now and then i think to myself "i wonder if i press on the screen in other combinations and in different menus". Well, thats exactly what i tried many times before on different occasions and nothing happened until few days ago.

I just wonder if there is a secret combination to also disable the gps permantly. I know i am going to try over and over again until i discover it :)

  4. I feel ya, and I know exactly where ya car broke down too

don't tell me you were there?

    Cevu,

Welcome back mate, hope u had a good time....mate all jokes aside but this incident with you is very serious, i would not take it lightly. I would be hard on Lexus...i know they would not give you another car but if this happens again and GOD forbid you have to take someone to court, that is extremely dangerous. You have a wife and kids, mate you have yourself even to worry about in such situation. At this stage i would keep all info, pics, logs etc of this incident, just in case.

When i had my first lexus which was written off by a taxi, my tyre popped as i was driving on the M2, i was doing 100km/hr, i started swerving everywhere, lucky no one was next to me. Luckily not long after i had the car replaced by GIO cause of the rite-off accident.

I hope it goes well for you.

something occured to me, just make sure they dont try to blame it on you, saying you modified your car, played with wires etc, i know it has nothing to do with it but these guys will do anything to get out of trouble...

    Good luck mate...

  5. Hey all,

Ilv', when are you back in the country mate??? I think that we are overdue a meet!!!! Especially whilst summer is still upon us and there are so many new members......

Cevu, you in?? Art, Franky, QQQ, Raoul, Naz & all you Sydney folk, are you guys in?? (Sorry to all the other Sydney members, so many to mention, where do I stop)!!! ;)

    HI Guys,

Yeah in for the meet for sure...............slightly off the topic but what ever happened to the group buy thing, man i am really keen on getting Ilv's air intake, and hopefully soon Cevu is going to help me with hacking the DVD...bit at a time i guess.....yes i know know and the wheels lol...........

  6. I paid $300 for a Sydney based tech to do my hack. I got DVD playing, use of phone and GPS address logging on the go, plus warranty. I thought it was worth it to not short circuit the car myself. Everything works great. The phone is really handy as is putting in addresses for the GPS whilst rolling. Watching DVD's whilst rolling is fun but a bit illegal.......

    Hi Natroth

So who is the guy that did it for $300, can you please give me the contact number and name. Is it NAM Electronics?

  7. Hi Guys,

Has anyone managed to burn that hybrid dvd for the nav overide?....

I tried a few times but it didnt work....it then occured to me that maybe i just insert the old version disk (v12) into the system. turns out the dvd loads up but you cant do the volume/overide...so my conclusion is that it doesnt matter if you burn a new dvd with the old loading.kwi file, its the system itself...

I have a camery 06 and a lexus 08, the camry Denso system is version 1610 and the lexus is 16b2, two different systems...

you can do the diagnostics trick on the camry as well and it comes up exactly the same as the Lexus...no buttons missing or added, exactly the same.....so with that said i think that you would need an older version of the Denso Nav system for the overide to work.

if anyone experienced different and has got this to work please let me know, i am happy to supply both versons of the disk if you feel it would help....

  8. Gents (and Ladies if there are some, but i dont know :) )

    Here is another secret menu:

When you bring up the diagnostics menu (by holding the info button and turning on and off the lights), on that screen press the top left corner and then the bottom right corner. Another menu shows up that has a whole heap of things, one of particular interest is the check sum values. Now if there are some programming heads out there i believe this could be something worth looking into, come on guys put your thinking caps on. I downloaded an disassembler but i wouldnt know where to start....

    Raoul

Well done finding the menu, haven't had a close look at it yet, but I will in the morning. Where did ya find it?? CL??

I cant actually remembere where, i dont thing it was CL, i think toyota forum....

  9. Just to add to Korvans brilliant work, here is a small pictorial that I found on CL. I did some serious editing down from the original post.

It also goes into discussing the firmware downgrade procedure for those that are curious about the firmware mods like myself.

    Hey mate,

you mention removing the fuse when doing a firmware downgrade, i cant find that particular fuse, are you sure it is labeled as 'TV NO.1', there is no such thing on mine, i have an 08 model

  11. Thank you Krovan, really much appreciated for the video....i have not done it yet but thats the way i will do it now, i dont know what in the world the book is talking about with regards to the clip and a flat head screw....i almost broke the fascia and button....

by the way, i have both versions of the dvd, V12 and V14....silly me didnt realise that i had V12 in my mums Toyota Camry all this time..lol........

i am going to try that hybrid cd and let you guys know.....

thanks again for the video, really appreciated

  12. Ahhh, that's definitely the problem. v12 allowed the "soft" DVD hack whereas v13 (the one my car came with) didn't, so my DVD hack was always done with wiring.

OK then, so is it possible to mix and match the disc info? By this I mean, can the software from V12 be used on the same disc as the maps from V14. You could then do the software hack and still have the most recent maps.

    Hey Bluey,

Yeh, its been done. I read the post on CL a while ago and Im trying to find it again.

Basically its exactly like you said.

The only thing that im not sure about is, other then the benefits of the DVD diag, are there any problems with the older version firmware. I know the differences on the surface, but is it buggy in any way. I got V14 , so I cant comment. Can someone with V12 tell us if you have had any issues!!

    Hey ProjectIS,

is this the post you read some time back about burning an old nav dvd ut using the latest version maps? Link http://sr1.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272328

    Hi Raoul,

First before I answer your question I gotta say, Cevu, you a crack man!! Thanks for answering for me!!! ;)

Good stuff finding this post Raoul. Its not the post I found in the CL archives so to speak, but never the less, this one pretty much covers it!!! Thanks for finding it!!

I have the loading.kwi file for Gen 5.1, i am happy to upload it but i am not sure if it is a US version or what...I have an 08 model with V14 maps, i have not taken the disc out yet but do you know what Disk version that is suppose to be?....i dont think the loading.kwi file will work if it is from the US....I would love to get this working, can you please tell me when you do it

  14. Hello everyone,

I dont know if i labelled this topic correctly but there is a hack to get into the car diagnostics system....

    1. with the car off, press the start button once (you should hear a warning sound)

    2. hold the info button down on the Nav and while holding this button turn on and off the lights, this is done by turning on then off and then on

    3. the screen will change and you get the diagnostics menu...

    4. the menu is to check certain things about the car, but i used this to turn up the send volume on my bluetooth. Many people i talk to complain that my voice seems distant when talking to them so i set the volume to 5 and this has helped alot.

I am interested to know if anyone has any other nice hacks to share....
