Yeah it was the one in Sydney 88,000 kms on it compliance plate say's Aug 2008 , it wasn't quite as stick as the dealer said it was , I have spent prob $1000 getting it roadworthy , the front brake discs were undersize , the Pirelli tyres were scrubbed out on the inside so I put Toyo C1S on it and had a back and front wheel alignment done with minimum caster , now it is registered and drives real nice , my wife is a happy driver

Given the asking price of your car the assumption was that it was near factory perfect, disappointing you had to then throw more $$$'s at it.  I am pretty sure your car is an MY09 in that it has the upgrade features for the 2009 model released in July 2008. This was the last model of this car imported into Australia. I cannot find any reference to the 2010 model ever being imported.  I bought mine from a lady in North Queensland who was the original owner and had the receipt for $167,000. It still had the "Original Spanish Leather" tags hanging on the seats .... Look after the car, it's a collectible.

Wow! that looks clean. Not many came to Australia so it is hard to find a good one. That looks like the Silver/Pink one that was for sale in Sydney????? It was pricey and being sold as an 08' but is an 09' (turn signals integrated into mirrors for 09). I just bought a second one from Adelaide. It is being car transported up now and I won't get it till next week. I have owned many cars in the past including the latest model E class Cabriolet but the SC430 has stolen my heart. I also like tinkering so the SC430 gives me room to play :) Congratulations

  3. Australian Design Rules

Dash Mats must have cutout areas for airbags.

Non compliant dash mats inhibit/reduce/deflect effectiveness of airbag. Compliant dash mats have either a cutout or a flap designed for the car and location of airbag. In an accident the passenger, and maybe driver, could get slapped in the face with a big bit of flying dash mat blown out by the airbag........ :)

  4. An alternate to the "Go Fast" track day............... which lets' everyone join in

    You like driving?

    You like twisty, windy roads?

    You like coffee?

    Got cobwebs in your pipes?

Meet at McDonalds Rouse Hill, cruise up the twisting Putty Road to very popular Grey Gum Cafe, about 80km run, for coffee/lunch......a few country pics   ....... then cruise home. Lots of twists and turns, amazing scenery, not many cars on the road, good fun, toilets, a bit of country fun but not too far away.................... The whole thing is half a day so not stealing too much of your xbox time.... very family friendly

Better that standing around in a parking lot and a lot more fun....

    Just a thought

  5. Ian,

You may have missed the "C" after the IS250 in my reply or my new pic of a red car instead of a pearl white one. I now have the convertible which has a smaller/narrower boot than the sedan. Imagine taking the armrest out of the backseat of your 250, that's what it is like. So far, my international websurfing has not rendered anyone making a rubberised/waterproof boot liner for the convertible. If i put the roof down after it rains, all the water and other crap (leaves etc) on the roof goes into the boot !!!!

I liked the idea of the OEM bootliner covering all the pockets and the first aid kit, it made for "secret" spaces, less accessible to dust and the kids.

  6. The bootliner and the cargo net have been the most practical items I have bought for the car. Cut the slots into the liner and hook up the net. We get six bags of groceries in the net and no rolling cans around the boot on the way home!! My car is 3 yrs old now and the original carpet and plastics look like new under the liner. I recently bought an IS250C and cannot find a liner anywhere. I made one from carpet as an interim and installed a new cargo net. With the roof down I get 4 bags of groceries in the boot (and nothing else) ;)))

  7. You have done a lot to your car but the pics aren't selling it very well. You have an expensive WALD kit but don't show the car profile. better pics might win!

Here are the latest pics that i took for my car...For all the club members, if you like my car can you please vote for me on facebook?

  8. YES!

get the car immediately treated by meguiars at Seven Hills to gtee a mirror finish and protection from the elements. Thereafter, every 6mths get a top up polish and wash with meguiars carwash in between. No swirl marks and a deep wet look to your paint........

With hindsight. i would have also put 3m film on the bonnet, cheaper than fixing paint chips especially on a black car. See here http://www.ozicozi.com.au/surfacetech/

  9. A bit of a delay while I finalised the rims....

    Lumarai chrome, Staggered Fitment - 18x8.0 5/114.3 ET40 (Front) 18x9.5 5/114.3 ET40 (Rear) Tyre size 235/40/18 & 265/35/18.

I am still trying to get continental extreme DW's but they are out of stock with tirerack.

    What do you think?

lol yeah it should be okay it'll fit well what wheels are you fitting them on?

  10. hm...try some tyre importers

    i got some Hankook V12 evo's for 240 each in 225/30/20

for my old sports tyres i payed around 280 for KU31's

you price is not too expensive

    but it aint cheap

    or try

    www.tirerack.com

take advantage of the AUD stronger than the USD

it'll probably end up being cheaper to bring your tyres from US

and plus they have more range than our small Australian market

    Hey Ilv,

My tyres are at end of life on my 250 SL. I need new rubber and saw this post. I trust your opinion, what do you think of 225/40 fronts and 255/40 rears? A bit narrower on the front and a bit wider on the back. I am chasing continental DW's from tiresales in the US. I am not an extreme driver so extreme handling is not as critical as quiet tyres.

p.s. thanks again to CEVU for the maps V17, absolute champion!
