  1. I went from Dunlop Sports Maxx to Sumitomo. I found that Sumitomo was a lot cheaper but had no RIM protection and since I damaged my RIM as it sticks out. I suggest you make sure you get tyres that have RIM protection. I also found the OEM Dunlop's were really good. Managed to get 45K out of the front and about 50K from the rear in terms of usage. Mainly city driving.

  2. Hi Guy's,

I am due for some new tyres on the front. I was told to try the Sumitomo HTRZ-III. They are 290 each for the front, compared to the Dunlop Sports Maxx which I have now which are 450 each. I don't need to replace the rear at the moment so I am not sure if I should mix ??

Also has anyone tried these Sumitomo tyres?

I have the same alloys as the X Series so I have wider tyres at the back and Sumitomo have the rears for 360 compared with Dunlop which is 650.

Considering the cost and the reviews I am thinking it looks like a good deal compared to paying top $$$ for the Dunlop.

Any advice or suggestions from your experieince?

    Thanks all :)

  3. Thanks Jom,

How do you disconnect each sensor at a time? Do you have to find some sort of hub or ECU that the sensors are connected to? Or did you pull the bumper out? I pulled the spare wheel lid and had a look around and I could not see the unit that controls all the sensors so I am not sure where to look, I have not pulled out all the carpets in the boot yet.

    Any tips are appreciated :)

Also any pictures of this rubber thing that fits on the sensors?

I got the delaer to fit it before I got the car but I am not sure if it's covered by the car warranty?

  4. Hi Guy's,

Someone has scratched my bumper when it was parked at the shops. It's a very minor scratch but I want to get it fixed as I can't stand seeing it all the time. Can anyone recommend one of those mobile bumper paint repair people around Sydney that you might have used? I can't have my car out of action for days so I don't want to take it in to a body shop.

    Thanks :)

  5. Hey Bluey!

Yeah I actually do use two buckets exactly as you describe :). I saw this youtube video about a new bucket that holds all the grit at the bottom, cant remember what it's called. I wonder if you can get that in aus? I think it was called a grit guard ?

Btw someone told me there is a laser car wash in Chatswood, I wonder how that works. Anyone been there?

  6. Hey Guys,

I got my car done by these guys http://www.paintprotectiondirect.com.au/

It's a lot easier to look after and I find dust is not as bad a problem as it used to be. You can get a DIY kit aswell or otherwise get them to do it for you. I got them to do it as I did not have the time to do it myself, and the results were pretty good, on my old black IS200 when I first got it, I had the similar problems to uad but as soon as I got the 250 I got the protection done straightaway and it makes a big difference.

However I never take my car to a car wash anywhere, always wash at home with a nice bucket :)

  7. Hi Guys,

I am sure some people in here have done a fair bit of lighting mods on their IS250 :)

I was considering changing my parkers to white LED and also getting brighter globes for my headlights. Does anyone know what I should get and where to get it from? I have read a bit about not getting cheap globes as they tend to burn out quickly.

I don't want to rewire and put in HID's as I want to keep my 7 yr warranty. I have seen a few threads on the net where people have just changed the globes.

Let me know what you guys think.

A couple of links I have seen so far:

  8. Hey Guys!

Hope all is well, I finally managed to get fast access back to this forum! I was just checking out the lexus site and noticed that they are offerring a sports suspension package. I am thinking of getting the FSport springs.

    Has anyone fitted these?

I don't want my car to be ultra low, and the 1inch drop suits me fine, also since I want to keep my warranty I would rather get Lexus to do it. Just wanted to know if anyone else has done it, also do I need to change the absorbers too?

Will this make the ride quality bad??

    Thanks :)

  9. Welcome Lextrane!! and congrats on the new IS250.

I have not heard of the L-Care product, but I have the same car as you. The first thing I did was get them to change my mats from ivory to black. That makes a big difference so the mat's don't look dirty all the time and since the interior of the car is two tone, it goes nicely. The other thing I did was to get a can of scotch guard and spray all the seats, door trims and carpet's. This makes it a lot easier to clean if there is a spill.

The only other thing I did was to get a some paint protection done from a 3rd party for around 400 to avoid things like bird droppings leaving stains on the black paint. The rest comes down to carefully washing the car and a vacuum every now and again :)

Check out the history on the forum as there are threads on maintaining your car and paint etc!

    Good luck :)
