  1. Why pay that outrageous price every year for those discs, and they can't keep up with all the tunnels being built in Brisbane?

There is an app that I run in iPad - it is called Metroview, updates free for life and often too

It is an Aussie GPS and it is awesome, only $24, never use the Lexus GPS again

But hey, Google for iTunes discounts, right now Coles have gift cards for 20% off

And at Harvey Norman, get 2 x $20 cards for 25% off

    Can't beat that :)

Moderator can delete if they think I'm selling but I'm not, I just like the product

  5. It is really tricky :D like 1 - 2 - 3

    Try :

    1. Menu not Map

    2. Click Info. Phone

    3. Click Map Data

    4. Click bottom left DVD

    Good luck :)

For me, the updates just cost way too much. I bought an App called Metroview and run it on an iPad.

It is especially mapped & designed for Australia; only $24 - highly recommended.

Another tip, Google for iTunes discount cards or watch online. Every so often Coles, and other discount 20% !!!

I bought $30 card for $24 so got the GPS app and still had $6 credit

  6. Hey all,

I am just curious to ask those people who have a Lexus RX350. How many kilometers did you get out of your brakes? I have reached 37,000kms and my car is grinding noisily to a halt, I have been using engine braking as much as possible. (Its going in tomorrow for the new system upgrade) Also could someone give me a rough estimate to how much they're going to hit me up for.

    Cheers,

By the way it is the best car I have to say I have driven. Best First Car ever!

I know this is old topic but seems to be the only one here about brake rotors & pads. My RX-350, 2010 is at dealer now, with 45,152 kms on it and they called and said the front rotors & pads needed to be changed, with a chance of getting another 5,000 kms out of them; I said leave it & I will do some research.

Anyone got any comments on this? I'm not sure if the brake pads have been changed yet, I would think so, will check on the service record when I go back this afternoon, thanks all.

Just a quick update on this, took it to another service center at the 50.000 Kms, they said they would check it out and do the necessary - turns out they replaced the REAR pads, skimmed the rotors, and told us to come back after another 10,000 Kms to check the front again - how it that for service? EXCELLENT, I think.

  7. My wife picked up the 350 Wednesday afternoon, I am overseas. Basically all the information I have is that they told her the heater core for drivers' side was blocked; now blocked with what or how would be very interesting for us mechanical types.

Also, she was told they did replace the radiator as well as a precaution so that is good too. So all you owners down in colder climates, anybody had a chance to check their heaters yet or anyone with a similar problem, please post here, regards, John

The fact that Lexus had to order more parts, and keep your car longer than expected, suggests that the cause of the problem was unexpected. So I think it's unlikely that anyone else here will have a similar problem, but let's see ...

For sure, an unexpected problem. The main thing to learn from my posting is: don't let the smooth talker in the suit at the service department butter you over with the BS they tried to give me. They actually had a list of temperatures they had taken from another RX-350 and tried to tell me that it was OK just because another car also had low readings? DOH :o

When you know you have a problem with your car, stick to your guns, get it investigated / solved / fixed or you will suffer as long as you own it!

  9. That's the sort of blunder I would expect from Land Rover not lexus.

I would have thought it near impossible for heater units to be installed in the wrong vehicle...thinking along the lines of production techniques...particularly production line assembly.

But from my experience especially with the Range Rover HEVAC (heating and ventillation & A/C)which was always having issues, it sounds to me like the blend door which seperates the hot from the cold have stopped working.

The blend doors are what give you hot on one side and cold on another. there will be multiple doors and flaps most likely controlled by electric motors. It's most probably a door motor or control for that motor in terms of a control unit (ECU).

I like you would be a little dissapointed if they really have fitted the wrong heater/cooler assembly!!!

    Thanks

    simon

    Simon,

Thanks for the reply and interesting information. Please remember that I do NOT know the exact reason the radiator & heater cores both have to be replaced: what I suggested was just off the top of my head reasoning, for sure I was like you thinking that it should only be some small defect in the control circuit either air flow or water but what do I know about modern digital, electronic cars of today? Not much it seems, give me the old mechanical stuff and I'm much better!

If the service sheet provides an answer, a logical, understandable answer that is, not the mumbo jumbo rep speak they give you when picking up the vehicle, then I will post it here.

    Stay tuned, John

  10. Hi,

Is ok to rant it out cos we do need cry out loud once in a while. As for my car, it was fixed and the problem is just that the temperature switch was stuck and thus it was unable to switch to heater. Got a guy who specialised in fixing car aircon to help me.

If you still need someone to have a look at your car aircon, I can pass you the number of the person who fixed my car.

    Thanks

Well, that's what I thought it would be something as simple as the signal not switching the valve to allow hot water in the heater core or not opening the air flow the right way, but as long as the dealer / Lexus is footing the bill for all this warranty work, I don't mind.

What I would really like is to see the difference in the parts, or at least a logical, plain English explanation but as I will be overseas for awhile, looks like my wife will be taking it in for the repairs and probably won't get details like tht from them; be interesting to see the service sheet if they give us a copy however.

Thanks for response, so many RX-350 readers looking at this and no one has even said if there heater is working properly yet, come on guys, it is a forum, share any information! :)

If this is on facebook, I would definitely like what you wrote. Thanks for your post anyway.

Oops, when I made that last post, I thought I was in the thread about this over on the RX-350 section = Heater not HOT threrad

  12. There is an issue with our 2010, RX-350, Sports Luxury Pack, heater this winter in Brisbane, not the coldest spot in the world I know but when you pay $111,000 for a vehicle you expect the Individual Climate Controls to do do what they are designed to do, right?

Anyway, the 2 drivers side outlets (near door & center dash) only blow cool air even on the highest heat setting, meanwhile the passenger side & rear outlets are blowing hot air. The difference is very noticeable just by feel with your hand.

Anyone from say, Victoria, that would use the heater a lot and can tell me if there vents are outputting the same temperature for passenger & driver?

OK, update, they called back today & want it back in on Friday to run more checks, will keep you informed!

    Thanks, John

OK, everybody, listen up, especially Victorians and other cold area 350 owners, check your heater outlets now! They told me today that this is a RARE condition, sure, and then they say they need to order parts in and need car for 2 days to fix it.

So they have to replace the radiator & the heater core; this tells me that they installed maybe a Kluger radiator & heater core, which maybe does not have separate controls & outlets for heat & cooling.

This will be a Warranty fix, and I think it could be a recall issue or at least every vehicle need to be tested at next service as they did with the Nudge Bar thing. I know they sure tried to brush me off with some BS, but I stood my ground and now getting some ACTION !!!

Let me know what you find out, be awhile before mine is fixed, but will update when I know more.

  14. is not heating up at all. drove for like 30 minutes and is still blowing cold air.

I for one believe you; did you ever get it sorted out?

I have a similar problem with our RX-350 this winter in Brisbane, coldest for last 11 years - there is a good flow of hot air from both passenger sides outlets, the rear outlets but both driver side outlets are still cool. This is with putting both the individual temperature up to MAX of 32 degrees.

Service center tried to blow me off with some BS about the position of the heater, farther away, crikey, you can tell the difference by feel, I mean one side is really HOT and drivers side is cool, absolutely no heat at all, and the center outlets are side by side so don't buy that distance crap. So they said they tested another vehicle but it was the same, maybe something to do with perhaps it was designed for the driver on the other side? WTF, must be a design fault then, I reckon.

Pay $111,000 for a vehicle and you can't even get HEAT even though it has individual climate controls??? I grew up in Canada and cars in the 60's had better heaters for sure, where is the technology gone wrong here?

    Thanks, rant over....

  15. The rotors on mine lasted about 45,0000 - they were just about shot when I bought the vehicle, so I had them changed. I now have 89,000km up and they're still OK.

But you have so much country in WA you don't use your brakes much :D thanks for reply, I found out the discs have NOT been changed, so I guess that is a pretty good run out of them. I used to run taxis and conditioned to getting as much out of everything as I can I suppose :o
