  1. I'm afraid you're not going to be able to fit tyres as wide as in the X5 because the RX rims are narrower. There are 2 issues when fitting wider tyres - rubbing and speedo error. Use the link below to experiment your options.

Hey thanks mate...that's a useful tool to have. However my plan is to get wider non-Lexus rims for bigger tires but stay with 19". The calculator shows that my speedo wld read slightly fast (that's good) with wider tires but using a lower profile like a '45' or '50' tire.

Perhaps I shld have phrased my question a bit tighter...I want wider rims to take bigger 19" tires so does anyone know of any offhand...or what the offsets are for an RX 450h (or where i can find this info out) so I can talk to a few tire guys like Bob jane or Tempe Tyres?

    Thanks again for any assist...

  2. Hi all,

I have reposted this into this forum as I saw that teepee got some answers to his (her?) RX 450H queries here so I thought I'd try this too as the RX4xxh forum seems a bit empty of members at the moment.

Wondering if any one can tell me if you can fit bigger wheels to the RX 450h Sports Luxury (which I am seriously considering buying). When I compare its wheels to the BMW X5 (which I am also looking at) there's a huge size difference. I am an ex-BMW 5 series owner who moved to an IS 250 Sports Luxury & now want to move to an SUV so am tossing up between these 2 cars.

    The RX runs 235/55 R19s on 19x7.5J rims while the X5 40D runs 255/50 R19s on 19x9J rims (frt) & 285/45 R19s on 19x10J rims (rear).

Anyone have any ideas ro seen anything out there? Appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks...

  4. Hi I am new to all this, and its my first time trying this type of "blog"

I am a recent convert (from x5)- and so far like the RX450h - its very different from the diesel of the bmw - how ever I,m hoping for good things.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THE FOLLOWING?

    1. I read and have heard a lot about the Auto start function and would like to have it "activated" on my car- can some one help me ?

    2. I also saw on the forum that a RX450H owner got his dealer to turn the warning chimes for seat belt ( ding, ding, ding etc.) to turn off for front and rear passengers -can some one help me ?

    3. I have just organised for the kit to "fix the grey out " of the nav and phone - if any one wants / needs advice

    4. coming from a BMW which had a tv in it - does any one have any clues on how to get on integrated into my ML dvd screen?

Is there any way to make the mirrors angle downwards (while in reverse) to actually be of some use and let you see the ground / curb - where it should be pointing ??

    6. With regard to the seat belt warning- I have tried the “start/stop button- odo 30sec. etc. “ Procedure with no avail. Does anyone know if it will work, or if there is a special procedure for the RX450H?

thanx in advance - ( hope this post works)

Hi mate - I see you've moved from an X5 to the RX450h. I'm a Beema fan & am tossing up between the RX450H & the X5 40D Sports & wondering (a) what induced you to choose the RX over your X5 & (B) how do they compare now that you've been driving the RX for a bit?

    Cheers...

  5. Just my 2 cents worth. I bought a new 08 IS250 SL last December. After some severe bargaining I got them to throw in:

    - extra 3 yrs factory warranty (giving me 7 yrs in total).

    - locking wheel nuts.

    - iPod/iPhone connection (3rd party of course).

+ I was extremely happy with the amount of $ I was able to also bargain off the on-the-road list price.

Because I also worked for a company that was on their Corporate program list, I got the 1st 3 yrs service for free as well (all I needed was a letter on company letterhead stating I worked for them).

I think they're even hungrier out there now, so good luck.

  6. Does anyone know how to modify the auto-on headlights setting? I have an 08 IS250 SL & the manual says it can only be customised by the dealer. It comes as std set to a value of "3" but I've just come back from a recent 2 wks driving in all the rain & crappy dim conditions up north (of Sydney) & the lights were set to auto-on but never came on even when it was pouring rain so I want to adjust the setting down to "1" to make it ultra-sensitive. A silver car in rainy conditions on the highway is hard to see without lights on.

  7. Yeah, I noticed the other thread regarding the side mirrors after I posted. I'v put my two bobs' worth in.

Has anyone else specifically, then, experienced issues using an iPhone with the IS250 handsfree? I have a sneaking suspicion that it's been a signal coverage issue (Optus + calling from the same location on my way home from work each day) but wanted to see if anyone else had the same problems that might've indicated a problem with the mic.

It's probably the iPhone. I got one when they first came out and the reception was really bad, it would also drop the bluetooth connection to the car for some reason. Eventually I went back to my trusty Blackberry and flogged the iPhone on eBay.

I've never had a problem with Blackberries and the IS250 handsfree and I've had had a Blackberry since I got my car.

Hmmm - I'm not convinced. I also had the 1st gen iPhone before they released the 3g here and had the same issue. Likewise, both iPhones work equally well in my wife's RX350.

I guess there's nothing for it but to do some more testing and see if the results vary in different signal areas and with different phones.

Just came back from a trip to Brisbane (from Sydney) in my 08 IS250. Am using an iPhone 3G on Optus & around 75% of my calls had issues with the folks I called having problems hearing me...once I switched the iPhone to speak via the iPhone itself rather than the car's mike all was well...maybe it's a proble with the car mike?

  8. As far as Im aware, the auto FOLD in, is a new feature added to the 2009 Sports Lux only. All 05-08 models (P, X, S, SL) have to fold in using the button discussed above. The auto TILT function when in Reverse is only available on S and SL models.

True - I have an 08 SL & asked the dealer if it was just a computer setting to get my mirrors to auto-fold in & he said "no". The computer to do the auto-fold-in in the 09 model is actually in the mirrors themselves, so I'd need to get brand new mirrors - you can imagine how expensive that'd be!!!

  9. Hi...am looking for a set of OEM Lexus rims (with tyres if u have them but don't really care) for an 08 IS250 SL - 2 x 18"x8.0" + 2 x 18"x8.5". Am interested in (in order of preference):

    1. Blade alloys (from the IS250X) - 5 spoke

    2. Sports alloys (also called the Spider alloys I understand) - 10 spoke (5 groups of 2 spokes)

    3. F1 alloys - 15 spoke

I got the Spider available brand new still in the box.

    is2501.jpg

They look gr8, but pity they're black; they wouldn't suit my silver IS250. I want the carbon metallic versions. Thx a lot though.

  10. As i mentioned previously...unfortunately in perth, noone I have found will do it. They don't want to break the law. So i will have to do it myself...ive set aside multiple weekends...but just always run outta time. Hope this week i get a chance

I'm not sure what this concern about breaking the law is about (apart from playing DVDs whilst driving) - it seems a furphy to me. Before I bought my IS250 I had 3 x BMW 5 series' over an 11 yr period & all of those allowed me to make phone calls & changes to the satnav (enter new addresses etc.) whilst driving. The only things I couldn't do were watch DVDs or the TV (!!!) above about 4 km/h.

  11. A further query for anyone reading this post...

I know you can set the keyboard for the Nav system to a QWERTY configuration (instead of the deafult ABC config. the car comes with. But this doesn't seem to change the keyboard layout for entering phone contact details or Group names; it's still the ABC config. Anyone come across how to change this to QWERTY config.?

  12. PROBLEM RESOLVED!!!

I wondered if it had anything to do with the no. of contacts I was trying to beam over. So I organised my contacts on the N95 into Groups & then just tried to beam 1 group across to a matching group I set up on the car...& it worked. So it looks like either the phone or the car can only handle so many contacts being beamed at 1 time. Now I'm off to beam the other groups across.

  13. You wouldn't have a pic of yr car wld you - I'd like to see how the wheels look if u don't mind...thx.

I'll post some wheel prices up here shortly - just waiting for Lexus Sutherland to get back to me. It's amazing how the prices vary from dealer to dealer. Surprisingly, the guys at Melbourne City Lexus are NOT the cheapest now.

Oops - sorry Wally. Been busy so haven't looked in the forum for a while.

In the interests of not posting the same picture again:

    I am post #27.

Hey - yr Le Mans Racing LMR06 wheels look gr8! Where did u get them from & how much did they cost may I ask?

  14. How cool are these for an oem replacement!!!

What do y'all think? Personally I really don't like the oem one we got at the moment, and I thought these were perfect as they still had the reflective top for the overhead LED!

This is probably my fav. About $157.00 straight from the source and yes, local in Aus!!! Wooo Hooo!!

    MGC15511264411.jpg

Quite unique!! This one was on a car that I found in the states. He had the CF overlays and I have to say, looked pretty neat and original!!

So who is the contact for these knobs pls? Dealer name/website?

  15. Just got my new 08 IS250 sports luxury - loving it!!! I have an iPhone 3G & a Nokia N95 - they both paired with the car seamlessly but I can't get my contacts transferred across from either phone.

    1. iPhone 3G - I hit the screen button on the car to transfer the iPhone's contacts but nothing happens. Probably not surprising as the iPhone doesn't have any features (yet!!! When oh when Apple??? ) to 'push' its contacts, other than when you sync it with yr computer.

    2. Nokia N95 - I hit the screen button on the car to transfer the N95's contacts, mark all the contacts on the phone & select to transfer them as business cards. The N95 generates the formats (while it does so, the car's screen says the bluetooth connection is lost), then the N95 allows me to reconnect to the car's handsfree & seems to try to transfer the business cards but then the Nokia says the transfer failed & it goes back to the phone's contact screen.

Anyone have any ideas/experiences/tips as to what I cld do here?
