1. Recently had similar problem with my 2000 LS430 here in Perth (235k). Had both Tappet cover gaskets replaced (leaking badly) along with PCV hose which was perished due to age, also replaced Platinum plugs. Cost exactly $628.90. Parts and labour GST incl.

Couple of weeks later temp gauge went off the dial, called out RAC - top radiator tank split???

No way it had anything to do with rocker cover gasket replacement - radiator just decided to die without warning, no previous coolant loss, replaced radiator and car has been fine ever since.

Probably not much help to you I know but maybe have rad. pressure tested to see if any leaks under pressure.

  2. G'day all, have just purchased a 2000 LS430, one owner vehicle. Previously have had a 94 and a 95 LS400 - great cars.

Problem - I only have 1 key fob. The car has a proximity system (factory) and an unusual key fob. Is anyone out there wrecking one of these 430's? or does anyone have a fob for one? Thanks, Old Bloke in WA.

Found Lexus Dealer to be best route for key replacement $500 - no too bad.

  3. Hi all ... i have recently purchased a 2008 IS250 sports ...16,000KM. I am older bloke and have moved from an LS400 to this 250 sport. My wife and I are finding the ride a bit harsh obviously due to sports suspension and 18" low profile run flat tires. Is the suspension adjustable? Would different tires help? Any thoughts? Would I be better off trading up and going for the Sports Luxury? At our age ride smoothness is everything LOL I understand that current suspension means it handles lke a go kart but I would prefer an armchair or an air suspension seat experience. I thankfully still have my old LS400 and find myself driving that more than the new toy. Perth WA

  4.
G'day .... That's big money for the screen, mine cost $350 fitted here in WA. Car doesn't sound expensive to me. I have 2 a ucf10 and a 20. Mileage is reasonable for price and age of car.

As a comparison look on Gumtree (Perth) I have my 94/5 UCF20 advertised (same car as one you are looking at with none of the problems you mention. Needs couple of stonechip touch ups and new lumbar switch on drivers seat.
